Don't dream of being PM again: Pro-PAS voice tears into Muhyiddin's tax flip-flops

Focus Malaysia2 days ago
A PRO-PAS commentator, known as Tanaka Mustafa, criticised PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin for lacking a consistent taxation policy and urged him to abandon his ambition to become prime minister again.
Tanaka described Muhyiddin's governance style as outdated, warning his reputation could suffer like Mahathir's if he returns as PM11 and performs poorly.
'Otherwise, his name will end up tarnished just like Tun Mahathir when he became PM7.
'Given today's political, geopolitical, and economic landscape, TS Muhyiddin's style of governance is outdated.
He also accused Muhyiddin of flip-flopping on taxes, noting that while he now calls for abolishing SST, he maintained it when he was prime minister.
'Looking at the flowchart made by cyber troopers to mock this issue, we can see that TS Muhyiddin has no solution when it comes to taxation.
'He just uses policies as he pleases, according to his own whims. As long as he can oppose, he opposes. As long as he can exploit, he exploits. Not good,' he wrote in a post.
On July 6, Muhyiddin denied claims that PAS is trying to undermine his leadership, stating that PAS and its president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang continue to support him.
Muhyiddin said he had previously proposed a rotational leadership allowing PAS to chair PN, but the party declined and insisted he continue.
This follows reports that PAS allegedly suggested restructuring PN to grant Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin more operational authority through an executive committee managing day-to-day affairs while party presidents remain in the PN Supreme Council.
Meanwhile, in June, Hamzah dismissed claims of a rift within PN and Bersatu, calling rumours of efforts to oust party leader Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin baseless.
In an interview with Mingguan Malaysia, Hamzah said he would be the first to know if there were any such moves, but no one has approached him.
As Muhyiddin's deputy in both PN and Bersatu, he stressed it would be foolish for anyone to plan an ouster without discussing succession with him, adding that the rumours were merely outsiders trying to divide the coalition. —July 13, 2025

No greater gift than Anwar quitting, PAS mocks upcoming tribute

PAS leaders took a scathing jab at Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim following his teaser on social media that Malaysians would soon receive an 'extraordinary tribute'. In a brief Facebook post, PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari mocked the announcement, saying: 'Since yesterday, it has been reported that a major announcement - a gift for the people - will be declared.' 'There is no bigger or more valuable announcement at this moment than...

Zaid decodes PAS: 'They want Hamzah, not Muhyiddin as PM'

Reading between the lines of PAS vice-president Amar Abdullah's remarks, former law minister Zaid Ibrahim believes the Islamist party is backing Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainuddin over his superior Muhyiddin Yassin as its preferred prime minister candidate for the next general election. He told Malaysiakini this when asked to elaborate on his post on X titled 'PAS' magnanimity, Bersatu's moment of truth'.

Hamzah has key role in PN's GE16 strategy, says PAS veep

Hamzah Zainudin is the Bersatu deputy president, deputy chairman for PN, and opposition leader. PETALING JAYA : Opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin can play a key role in formulating Perikatan Nasional's (PN) strategy for the 16th general election (GE16), says PAS vice-president Amar Abdullah. Speaking to FMT, Amar said Hamzah's position as Bersatu deputy president and PN deputy chairman was enough for him to be entrusted with the responsibility, alongside other leaders. He said strategic planning was not necessarily the job of the Bersatu president or PN chairman alone, as it was typically carried out as a team. 'Strategy is usually crafted as a team, not by any individual. So the issue of changing the (Bersatu) president doesn't arise,' he said. Nevertheless, Amar said PAS did not wish to interfere in Bersatu's alleged internal rifts over whether Muhyiddin Yassin should remain as party president and PN chairman or be replaced by Hamzah. Yesterday, FMT reported analyst Mazlan Ali of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia as saying that PAS had yet to clearly commit to either side. Another analyst, Ahmad Fauzi Abdul Hamid of Universiti Sains Malaysia, said PAS appeared inclined to support Hamzah, although the party was being careful not to antagonise Muhyiddin and his allies. Fauzi also said that a smooth leadership transition was crucial for Bersatu and PN's stability ahead of GE16, and would help prevent the concentration of power in a single individual or faction. 'What happens in Bersatu, in our view, doesn't affect the ties in PN. Our cooperation is based on party-to-party relations. 'Whoever is chosen by the party, we will respect,' said Amar, who is also the Kelantan state assembly speaker. Meanwhile, PAS women's wing chief Nuridah Salleh expressed hope that the issue of Bersatu's leadership transition could be resolved. 'As part of a coalition that aspires to lead the country better, I hope and pray that all internal party issues can be resolved amicably and as soon as possible. 'Prolonged disputes will not benefit the party,' she said.
