Gurugram city bus service set to hire 600 more employees for new buses
A senior GMDA official said that the proposal to buy 200 buses for Gurugram and Faridabad will be presented in the upcoming meeting of the high powered purchase committee, chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The proposal is likely to get approved.
According to a proposal submitted to the Town and Country Planning Department, the GMCBL has sought Finance Department's nod to engage 649 new personnel through Haryana Kaushal Rojgar Nigam Limited (HKRNL). The city bus service has also sought approval for the continuation of 612 existing employees.
'It is clarified that GMCBL is generating revenue through ticket sales. Any shortfall between the total revenue and expenditure is being covered by GMDA through Viable Gap Funding (VGF). Therefore, no financial support is required from the Finance Department,' the letter by GMCBL CEO, Vishwajeet Chaudhary said.
Currently, the GMCBL is operating 200 buses under its aegies, of which 50 are being operated in Faridabad.
Presently, the city bus service has sanctioned posts of 580 bus conductors of which 480 posts have been filled through HKRNL. Out of the sanctioned 611 posts, including the conductors, the bus service has filled 477 posts while 134 posts are lying vacant, as per the GMCBL data.
A senior GMDA official said key infrastructures such as bus depot and electricity substations will be completed by end of October. Once the new buses are procured, they will be immediately deployed on different routes.
'The process to hire new staff has been initiated. To operate one bus, there is needs for more than two bus conductors and the manpower will be hired in a ratio that buses can run in two shifts. We are working to build more bus depots across the city to accomodate more buses,' he said.

Gurgaon: GMDA has hired a consultant to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed 40 MLD sewage treatment plant (STP), which is set to be built on 2.9 acres in Naurangpur. The proposed STP aims to address sewage management in newly developed areas in sectors 77 to 80. GMDA has deposited Rs 9.8 crore for a 2.9-acre land parcel transferred to it by the Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM). The authority has already sanctioned Rs 75 crore for the project. Although 3.75 acres were originally required for the project, only 2.9 acres were available, as a proposed 24m road passes through the site. According to officials, the technical aspects of the DPR were drawn up earlier, but a fresh exercise will finalise the layout plan and optimise land use. GMDA operates six STPs across the city with a cumulative treatment capacity of over 408 MLD. But with new residential clusters coming up along Southern Peripheral Road and Dwarka Expressway, the demand for sewage treatment capacity is set to rise sharply. Officials said the Naurangpur STP will cater to new sectors 77-80 while ensuring treated wastewater can be used in the forest area, NSG campus, and other green areas for horticulture purposes. Citing irregularities, Haryana bans GPF advance in last 6 months of service before retirement
The Haryana Government Tuesday directed all administrative secretaries that officers and employees should not be granted approval for General Provident Fund (GPF) advance during the last six months of their service before retirement. Officials said the instructions have been issued to 'prevent irregularities in procedures related to GPF'. In a letter, Anurag Rastogi, Chief Secretary, said, 'Details of any advance or withdrawal sanctioned within 12 months before the date of retirement must be mandatorily recorded in the prescribed forms and duly certified by the Administrative Department'. 'If in any exceptional case an advance is sanctioned after the final payment case has been forwarded to the office of the Principal Accountant General, such sanction must be immediately communicated through official email or other formal means so that necessary adjustment can be made in the payment,' said Rastogi, who also holds the charge of Additional Chief Secretary (Finance Department). Citing reasons for the decision, Rastogi said the Finance Department has noticed that some administrative departments and Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) have been 'sanctioning recoverable or non-recoverable advances even after sending the GPF final payment cases to the office of the Principal Accountant General (Accounts & Entitlement)'. 'It has also been observed that in many cases, mandatory details regarding advances or withdrawals—especially those relating to the 12 months before retirement—are either not filled properly in PF-09 and PF-10 forms linked with GPF final payment, or are not certified by the Administrative Department'. The Haryana Finance Department said such 'lapses increase the risk of errors in payment and excess disbursement, which can cause financial loss' to the state government. The letter added, 'Submission of GPF final payment cases is done only through the Online Diary Management System (ODMS), whereas advances and withdrawals are processed on the Government's E-Billing Portal (T&A)/NIC. Since there is no data integration between these two portals, and some DDOs are not following the prescribed instructions, this problem is occurring repeatedly'. The Haryana Government instructed all treasury officers and DDOs to ensure strict compliance with the order.

IITians develop digital platform to address Gurgaon civic issues
Gurgaon: Unhappy with broken roads and poor civic amenities in the city, a group of young IITians, who have made Gurgaon their home, developed a digital system to report civic issues like broken roads and stray cattle menace to. Users can open the website the group has developed ( and upload pictures of the issue they would like to report along with location tags. The system does not require citizens to reveal their identity or details in order to report issues. After the photos are uploaded, AI agents map and route each complaint to the department concerned. The announcement was made at a meeting between the group behind the platform and Rajesh Khullar, chief principal secretary to the chief minister of Haryana in the city on Monday. Pravin Kaushal, an IIT alumnus, said the idea behind the system is to give back to the city which has now become his home. "Many IITians are working in Gurgaon's tech and startup ecosystem and they want to contribute to the betterment of the city," he said, adding that they want to develop transformative collaboration between govt, startups, and civic leaders. Pointing out that RaastaFix is a citizen-driven platform, he said issues can be reported on it in 30 seconds. Each report is geo-tagged, time-stamped, and instantly shared with GMDA, MCG, NHAI, PWD, RWAs, MLAs, and councillors — ensuring faster action, he added. Vinay Krishna Gupta, founder and CEO of Antino, the product development company which took a lead in the project, said as a Gurgaon resident, he did not know which department to approach to report issues like potholes, sewage, or garbage collection. "RaastaFix makes it simple — I can just upload a photo, and the system automatically routes the complaint to the right authority. I don't even have to share my name or number, and I know my complaint is being tracked. It gives people like me a voice and ensures the govt can respond faster," said Gupta. Saurabh Mishra, a resident of Sector 50, said the multiple agencies working in Gurgaon make it confusing for the residents to find out which roads come under which agency. "A common platform for raising the civic issues will be a great help; I hope the authorities will pay attention to the reports and fix the issues raised on the platform," said Mishra.
