Billy Joel's daughter Alexa Ray reacts to singer's brain disorder diagnosis after he cancels all tour dates
The daughter of music legend Billy Joel shared a touching tribute after the 'Piano Man' singer was diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus and canceled all of his upcoming concerts.
Alexa Ray Joel, whom Joel shares with ex Christie Brinkley, praised her father for being the 'strongest and most resilient man I've ever known' as she thanked fans for the 'beautiful outpouring of love and support.'
'We love you and we got you, Pop,' Alexa captioned in an Instagram post on Saturday.
She posted the emotional message alongside a black and white painting that seemingly showed the iconic vocalist holding hands with her as a little girl.
'My Dad is the strongest and most resilient man I've ever known… and he's entirely committed to making a full recovery with ongoing physical-therapy treatments as he continues to regain his strength,' she added.
On Friday, the 'New York State of Mind' singer revealed he was forced to cancel all of his scheduled concerts amid his new health diagnosis.
'Normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) is a condition that happens when cerebrospinal fluid builds up inside your skull and presses on your brain,' according to the Cleveland Clinic.
The condition, which can cause cognitive difficulties, happens in people over 65 and can be treated with surgery and 'sometimes even reversible.'
The musician's team suggested that continuing to tour would worsen his brain disorder.
'This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision and balance,' a statement on the 'The Longest Time' performer's Instagram page revealed on Friday. 'Under his doctor's instructions, Billy is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period.'
'I'm sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding,' the 'Uptown Girl' singer wrote.
All scheduled shows until July 3, 2026, have been canceled, including his show with Rod Stewart at Yankee Stadium on July 18, 2025, and his performance with Sting at Citi Field on August 21, 2025.
'The genuine care, empathy, and concern from everyone means so much to him,' Alexa said. 'It means a lot to me, too.'
She ended her Instagram post with lyrics from the five-time Grammy winner's song 'Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel).'
'Someday We'll All Be Gone / But Lullabies Go On And On / They Never Die / That's How You And I Will Be.'
The music continues…
All My Love, Alexa Ray,' she wrote.

Bruce Willis' wife Emma Heming says she feels 'profoundly sad' on Father's Day
The wife of Bruce Willis, shared a touching message on Instagram Sunday, honoring not only her husband but also other dads "living with disability or disease." Heming Willis, who shares daughters Mabel Ray and Evelyn Penn with the actor who was diagnosed with aphasia in 2022 and frontotemporal dementia (FTD) in 2023, posted a photo of Bruce cuddling one of their girls, along with a moving caption. "Happy Father's Day to all the dads living with disability or disease, showing up in the ways they can and to the children who show up for them," she wrote in the caption. "What Bruce teaches our girls goes far beyond words. Resilience, unconditional love, and the quiet strength in simply being present. This photo says so much. Love deepens. It adapts. It stays, even when everything else changes." Heming Willis also reflected on the emotional complexity of the day. "But to be fair to myself, these symbolic days stir up a lot. I'm profoundly sad today. I wish, with every cell in my body, that things could be different for him and lighter for our family," she continued. Referencing a phrase often used in the frontotemporal dementia (FTD) community, she added, "As they say in our FTD community, It is what it is.' And while that might sound dismissive, to me, it's not. It grounds me. It helps me return to the acceptance of what is and not fight this every step of the way like I used to." Concluding the post, she wrote, "Today, let's celebrate the badass dads, those who are here, and those we carry with us 💙 Onward." This isn't the first time Heming Willis has spoken publicly about the emotional realities of life since Willis' diagnosis. Last December, she shared a throwback photo marking the anniversary of their relationship, opening up about how those milestones have changed. "17 years of us ♥️," she wrote at the time. "Anniversaries used to bring excitement -- now, if I'm honest, they stir up all the feelings, leaving a heaviness in my heart and a pit in my stomach." "I give myself 30 minutes to sit in the 'why him, why us,' to feel the anger and grief," she continued. "Then I shake it off and return to what is. And what is… is unconditional love." "I feel blessed to know it, and it's because of him," she said. "I'd do it all over again and again in a heartbeat 💞." In addition to the two daughters he shares with Heming Willis, Willis is also a father to Rumer, Scout and Tallulah, whom he shares with ex-wife Demi Moore. Heming Willis is currently working on a book about caregiving, set to be released in 2025.

Ryan Teddler On Trump Military Parade And Protests
Ryan Tedder is gaining attention for his "terrible" take on Donald Trump's military parade and the "No Kings" protests. Yesterday, demonstrators from all over the country took to the streets to protest Donald Trump and the expensive military parade he had on the same day, which coincided with his 79th birthday. While the protests drew millions, the parade appeared to have a much lower turnout than the 200,000 people that were expected. Ryan wasn't happy to see that, and yesterday, he took to Instagram to criticize people for protesting instead of "celebrating" our troops. "I have around 20 family members & grandparents that all fought in wars from the revolutionary war (actually) thru to WWII / Korea," he wrote. "All politics & parties and righteous indignation aside it's a super bummer that instead of celebrating the 250th anniversary of the USA ARMY and all those who have fought and died on our protesting." Ryan clarified that he doesn't identify as a Democrat or Republican. "I haven't been a card carrying political member of either side in over 20 years & think at this point everything is absurd 99% of the time," he wrote. "But I'd like to say THANKYOU to all of the Army service members active and retired and those who have given their lives to protect our protest." His post quickly went viral online, with many viewers criticizing the OneRepublic singer for his "ignorant" take. "Oh gosh, this is terrible," one person wrote as another said, "I'm so disappointed." "Why is everything I hear about this man proof that he SUCKS lmaoooo," wrote a third while someone else argued that he'd definitely "picked a side." "Dude mustve missed the part where veterans got dragged away by police for protesting this parade," someone else said. "They understand what fighting and protecting this country means." Another was quick to point out, "Soldiers are currently arresting civilians on American soil, Ryan." Some also noted that the military is celebrated multiple times a year, including Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and July 4, with one user writing, "You're not going to question why this event had to happen on Trump's birthday? (Yes June 14th does also happen to be the incorporation of the US Army and this year is 250, a landmark number, but he's been trying to do this parade since his first term. It's just a lucky coincidence the dates are the same that works in his favor.) You're not grateful that people didn't try to rain on his parade (Mother Nature helped with that one) and interrupt the celebration of the military, but instead chose to peacefully gather elsewhere? Loser behavior." And someone else said Ryan's post is exactly why it's important to know the artists you're supporting: "PSA that he isn't just the lead of One Republic, but he has worked closely with so many artists to write/produce their music like Taylor Swift, Tate McRae, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato the list goes ON and ON and it's IMPOSSIBLE to list all the songs he is involved in. People like this have their hands all over the music industry and looking at the credits to see who you support matters." What do you all make of Ryan's comments? Let me know below.
