Will the Hulk Hogan Bar Partnership Become a Midtown Homage?

Just weeks after the controversial Hulk Hogan announced a partnership for his Midtown wrestling-themed bar, the professional wrestler has died of a heart attack at the age of 71 in Clearwater, Florida, TMZ reports.
Spearheaded by nightlife veteran Rich Rosen in a licensing deal with Hogan, the $7 million, 9,000 square-foot space, named Slam, is due to open in the fall across from Madison Square Garden at 461 Eighth Avenue, at 31st Street, offering wings, beer, and big-screen wrestling highlights under Hogan's banner. It was set to be the first licensed Hogan concept in New York City, with a name meant to echo both wrestling and the MSG arena down the block.
Now, Slam may open as something different than originally planned: not just a fan-fueled bar and restaurant but a posthumous tribute. Hogan, born Terry Bollea, has been a pop culture fixture since the 1980s, a mainstay at Madison Square Garden, where he headlined countless WWE events. He was also known for his racism caught on the infamous sex tape, for which he sued Gawker for what ended up to be $140 million — and won, which led to the demise of the publication. Most recently, he had aligned himself with President Donald Trump, having ripped off his shirt during his speech at the RNC convention and said he'd like to be vice president someday.
In Rosen's pitch to Hogan, he said the Midtown location 'was his story,' referring to the bar's close proximity to the arena where much of Hogan's fame was forged. Slam was designed to be 'big, bold, and nostalgic,' with Hogan's Real American Beer on tap and walls covered in memorabilia. Construction is still underway, and as of this writing, the team hasn't announced changes to the concept or opening timeline.
Eater has reached out to Rosen for an update.

WWE SummerSlam 2025 Full Card, Date Time And Watch Info - Nights 1 & 2

As we head into the final episode of SmackDown before the two-day SummerSlam extravaganza, there appear to be six matches set per night. Here are the matches, what to expect, as well as viewing information for both SummerSlam 2025 – Night 1 - August 2 at 7pm ET on Peacock World Heavyweight Championship Gunther (c) vs. CM Punk This seems like a great spot for Punk to win his world title. However, I do envision his wife AJ Lee returning to WWE sometime soon. I'm not sure when that will happen, but I'd be shocked if she isn't a part of a major angle teaming her with Punk against Seth Rollins and his real-life wife Becky Lynch. As it is, this is Gunther's second reign as the World Heavyweight Champion and he doesn't have much else to prove at this point. I wouldn't be surprised to see him turn face at some point over the next Women's Championship Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jade Cargill I'm picking Cargill to go over and win her first world title. I also expect Bianca Belair to return to action either on SmackDown or at SummerSlam. No matter when she returns, the potential Bianca-Jade feud is likely coming late in 2025 or early in 2026. Stratton's title reign has been mid and it's time to spice up the scene around the Orton & Jelly Roll vs. Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul I almost always hate the celebrity match, but there have been a few exceptions. Just about every match Logan Paul has been in has been strong, but we're doubling up here by adding Jelly Roll. I have all the respect in the world for the work it appears Jelly is putting in, and I acknowledge how good his mic work has been during the build. That said, there's a lot of work to be done if anyone is going to make him look good in the ring. Perhaps there will be a massive storyline shift, like an Orton heel turn that adds to the show. That might be quite the Women's Tag Team Championships The Judgment Day (Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez) (c) vs. Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair I fully expect to see Bliss and Flair win. Teaming with Bliss has put Flair over with the fans again, and she deserves it after a long rehab for her injured knee. For my money, she's still the greatest women's wrestler of all time, but Becky Lynch has dramatically closed that Reigns & Jey Uso vs. Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed Some are predicting a Jey Uso heel turn here. Perhaps, but there won't be two huge heel turns on the same day at SummerSlam. And I'd prefer to see Orton flip at this point. As it is, I'm excited to see what kind of show these four men put on, as it is my favorite for match of the night on the first day of Zayn vs. Karrion Kross This could be a huge match for both men. Kross needs something big and memorable in this spot. WWE has placed him in another PLE and he needs an in-ring moment that will make re-signing him a SummerSlam 2025 – Night 2 - August 3 at 7pm ET on Peacock Undisputed WWE Championship – Street Fight John Cena (c) vs. Cody Rhodes There is no doubt in my mind this will be one of the more memorable matches from Cena's farewell tour. It seems like a match that Rhodes could win, but I almost think it would be better if Rhodes' next title run comes as a heel. In any case, this one is going to be special. Cena's character is beginning to soften and it's been a pleasure to watch the World Championship – Triple Threat Naomi (c) vs. Iyo Sky vs. Rhea Ripley The pressure is on Naomi in this one. It's not about defending the title. The pressure comes from the resurgent veteran being faced with the task of helping Iyo and Rhea deliver a match as good or better than the one the latter two had with Bianca Belair at WrestleMania. If they bring it similarly, we could be looking at another Intercontinental Championship Becky Lynch (c) vs. Lyra Valkyria Becky has pulled more out of Lyra than I thought she was ready to deliver at this stage of her career. However, I don't know if it is time for Lyra to regain her title. The women's IC belt still needs to be put over a bit more, and Becky is the best person for that task. I'm hoping they have an excellent match that Becky still States Championship – Steel Cage Match Solo Sikoa (c) vs. Jacob Fatu I expect this match to be physical but slow-paced. The interference is going to come in some way, but it'll be interesting to see if anyone besides Jimmy comes to Jacob's aid when the numbers game swings in Solo's Championship Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. AJ Styles If Dom is going to spend more time with AAA, it would make sense for him to drop the title. That said, Styles doesn't need it. He's already been the IC Champion in his career. As his career winds down, the only thing that really makes sense is a World Heavyweight Championship run. That's not what this is, so I'm a little stumped when it comes to predicting the end of this Tag Team Championship – TLC Match Wyatt Sicks (c) vs. #DIY vs. Street Profits vs. Fraxiom vs. Motor City Machine Guns vs. Andrade & Rey Fenix It's a tag team match and those haven't seen a bunch of love of late in WWE. However, the amount of athleticism and absolute chaos that is possible in this match makes it one of the ones I'm most looking forward to this weekend. Andrade and Rey Fenix or Fraxiom would make great champions. Everyone else in the match has already had their time as champions.

Katy Perry Raises Eyebrows As She's Seen On A Date With Justin Trudeau After Split From Orlando Bloom

Katy Perry was spotted enjoying a dinner date with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as her tour stop in Canada gets underway. The "Roar" hitmaker, who recently split from her ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom, has been struggling to keep her "composure" while performing breakup songs during her shows. Katy Perry recently sparked concern when she nearly fell off a flying prop during her tour stop in San Francisco. Katy Perry Seen On Date With Justin Trudeau Katy Perry isn't just in Canada for her tour, as she has also taken time to enjoy the company of the country's former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. According to photos obtained by TMZ, the 40-year-old singer was seen on a dinner date with Trudeau at Le Violon in Montreal on Monday night. Perry looked so invested in their conversation and often leaned in across the table as they spoke. Sources told the news outlet that the pair sipped cocktails and shared several dishes, including one with lobster. They weren't alone in the private establishment, as security guards reportedly hung around to keep tabs on them and monitor things from the mirrored glass. At some point, the chef came over to their table to exchange pleasantries with them, and after their meal, they returned the gesture as they headed to the kitchen to thank the staff. It remains unknown if this was a romantic date or just a friendly hangout. The Singer Has Had Some Challenges In Her Personal Life Amid Her World Tour Perry is currently in Canada as part of her ongoing "Lifetimes" world tour, and would be performing tonight at the Canadian Tire Centre (formerly Scotiabank Place) in Ottawa, before heading to Montreal tomorrow for another show. Her tour was earlier plagued with issues of low ticket sales as well as unfinished venue construction, which led to some of her shows in Mexico being cancelled. Things compounded for the worse as she suffered a very public backlash following her all-female trip to space with Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin. Just when fans thought she'd be getting a break, her relationship with longtime fiancé Orlando Bloom ended. Despite the emotional setback, Perry hasn't stopped giving fans the time of their lives and took things to new heights when she rode on a flying prop during her show in San Francisco on July 18. Katy Perry's Prop Malfunctioned Mid-Air In multiple fan videos seen on social media, the pop star was performing her 2013 hit "Roar" while riding on the prop. It then tilted and dropped, causing her to lose her balance for a bit. In some clips, Perry looked back up at the prop wires and down at the audience before continuing with her performance, per USA Today. She later took to her Instagram stories to share a blurred, zoomed-in picture of her reaction to the incident, captioning the post "Good Night San Fran." The Singer Struggles To Keep Her 'Composure' Performing Breakup Song Following her split from Bloom, the "California Gurls" singer has seemingly found it difficult to maintain her "composure" while having to perform her breakup songs on tour. Perry usually gives fans the chance to choose a song for her to perform, but was quite uncomfortable with those who voted for her to sing "Not Like the Movies" during her Inglewood, California, concert earlier this month. "You're gonna make me sing this song in this time in my life?" she asked, referencing her and ex-fiancé Bloom's recent split, per People Magazine. "OK, we'll do it! Because you voted for it. … I'm gonna try not to cry. Don't worry. I won't cry." She explained that the song dated back to her "first divorce" from ex-husband Russell Brand. Perry told fans, who also voted for her to perform "The One That Got Away," that she would "try and hold [her] composure while sing[ing] it a week before [her] period." Katy Perry And Orlando Bloom Are Focused On 'Coparenting' According to Us Weekly, the "Teenage Dream" singer and the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor confirmed their split in a joint statement where they shared that they're now focusing on raising their daughter, Daisy. "Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry's relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting," a statement from their reps read. "They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is – and always will be – raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect," they added. According to Page Six, a source shared that their split had been "a long time coming" as things between them had been "tense" more recently. "It's not contentious at the moment. Katy is, of course, upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life," the insider shared at the time. Solve the daily Crossword

Cody Rhodes pays tribute to Hulk Hogan on WWE SmackDown

The post Cody Rhodes pays tribute to Hulk Hogan on WWE SmackDown appeared first on ClutchPoints. Though WWE committed the opening on Friday Night SmackDown to an expansive tribute to the late Hulk Hogan, from a 10 bell salute to a near-seven-minute long video package highlighting his entire career, Cody Rhodes wanted to spend a little extra time focusing on the 'Hulkster' before getting down to business. Taking the ring to talk SummerSlam, his feud with John Cena, and everything else along the way, Rhodes dedicated some time to Hogan, thanking him for his contributions to sports entertainment, wrestling, and entertainment as well. 'Yesterday, WWE and pro-wrestling lost one of its giants in Hulk Hogan, and I know emotions and feelings regarding it are complicated, but what is not complicated is his accomplishments and his contributions to WWE to sports entertainment, to pro wrestling, to entertainment as a whole,e they are staggering and they are indisputable,' Rhodes declared. 'So, as someone who gets to stand here and say that I'm a WWE Superstar, he was the original, and I just want to take a moment to say thank you, Hulk Hogan.' Did Rhodes and Hogan ever share the ring? Nope, but Hogan did wrestle his Cody's father Dusty a number of times back in the day, including eight matches in New Japan Pro Wrestling – if you can believe it – a Royal Rumble in WWE, and one final time on an episode of WCW Thunder in 2000, according to Cagematch. Despite being from very different generations, the way Rhodes and Hogan present themselves to the WWE Universe is remarkably similar, with the 'American Nightmare' taking more than a few cues from the 'HulkaManic' in his red, white, and blue babyface presentation post-AEW. While Rhodes' time as a babyface may rapidly be coming to a close, with Cena's redemption coming at some point, maybe as soon as SummerSlam, when that day comes, he will almost certainly take cues from Hogan there too, using the 'Hollywood Hogan' character as a template from which to tell his own story.
