Most everyone around baseball knows how aggressive San Diego Padres general manager can be.
Preller once again proved that Wednesday and Thursday when he made several impactful moves.

The blockbuster deal did cost San Diego its top prospect and the No. 3 overall prospect in baseball, shortstop Leo De Vries.
That was just the first of a plethora of moves made by Preller throughout Wednesday and Thursday.

As if adding Miller to the bullpen and Sears to the rotation wasn't enough, San Diego made several upgrades to its lineup.
The Padres acquired outfielder Ramon Laureano and first baseman Ryan O'Hearn from the Baltimore Orioles. O'Hearn is having a career season, as he is batting .283 with 13 home runs, 43 RBI and a career-high .837 OPS.
Much like O'Hearn, Laureano is having a career season. He is hitting .290 with 15 doubles, 17 home runs, 46 RBI and a .884 OPS.
Both of those players are expected to join San Diego's everyday lineup, and Preller wasn't done adding with those two.
The Padres have struggled mightily with production from catchers this season, so a move was made for former Kansas City Royals catcher Freddy Fermin. Fermin is having a solid season, with a .255 average and .309 on-base percentage.
By no means are those All-Star caliber numbers, but they are much better than the production provided by Martin Maldanado and Elias Diaz.
In total, the acquisitions of Miller, Sears, O'Hearn, Laureano and Fermin gave the Padres the best haul of any team at the trade deadline.

Wenceel Pérez and Dillon Dingler also homered for the Tigers, while Ryan Jeffers, Trevor Larnach and Matt Wallner had homers for Minnesota. Detroit has won six of its last eight games since losing 12 of 13. The Twins have lost five of six. Casey Mize (10-4) picked up the win, allowing three runs in six innings while Kyle Finnegan pitched the ninth for his second Tigers save. Noah Davis (0-2) took the loss in relief. PHILLIES 13, ORIOLES 3 PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Kyle Schwarber homered twice, including a grand slam Philadelphia's eight-run sixth inning, and the Phillies pounded Baltimore. Schwarber finished with six RBIs, running his major league-leading total to 94 on the season. Schwarber's first homer of the game was a two-run shot deep into the second deck that tied it at 3 in the third. He heard 'MVP! MVP!' chants when he came to the plate in the sixth. Schwarber, the All-Star Game MVP, launched his NL-best 40th of the season into the right-center seats off Yaramil Hiraldo for a grand slam that sent the crowd of 41,099 into a frenzy. Napheesa Collier out for a few weeks with sprained right ankle
MINNEAPOLIS — Napheesa Collier will be sidelined for a few weeks after spraining her right ankle against the Las Vegas Aces on Saturday, the team announced Monday. Collier will be reevaluated in the coming weeks. The MVP frontrunner appeared to step on teammate Alanna Smith's left foot and immediately went down near Las Vegas' bench with the Lynx holding a 92-49 lead late in the third quarter. She attempted to stand but sat back down on the court, writhing in pain, and was immediately surrounded by Aces starters A'ja Wilson, Chelsea Gray, Jackie Young, NaLyssa Smith and Kierstan Bell, who all held towels to shield her from exposure.
