SINGAPORE — Today, Multiplier Holdings, a technology company building AI-native professional services firms, publicly launched with $27.5 million in Seed and Series A funding. The Series A round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners with participation from Ribbit Capital (led the Seed), EDBI, and SV Angel. Multiplier is helping to overcome the AI adoption hurdle by acquiring specialized professional services firms and integrating custom AI automation to deliver better results for clients, drive efficiency and fuel growth.

Globally, the professional services market is valued at over $6 trillion, and is projected to grow significantly in the coming years (e.g., tax advisory services are forecasted to grow at 11.2% CAGR). Tax, accounting, specialized advisory and other high-stakes professional services firms face more demand than they can supply with a declining workforce, alongside high labor costs and legacy technologies.

Multiplier acquires ambitious boutique services firms, onboards them to its AI-driven practice management platform, and then iteratively and diligently works with the firms' domain experts to uplevel the client experience and improve the scalability of the business.

'Vertical SaaS might not be the best path to modernize an industry. Building an AI-native professional services platform from the ground up creates the most technological leverage and captures more incentive alignment between domain and technology experts than traditional SaaS,' said Justin Overdorff, Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners. 'The Multiplier approach—an AI-first software company acquiring existing service firms to compete directly in the services business by using proprietary technology—allows us to elevate the client and staff experience in a radical way. As it scales, Multiplier can become the preferred buyer in these categories by underwriting the largest and most repeatable post-acquisition improvements to the business while ensuring firm owners and staff participate in the upside.'

Multiplier partners with the firms it owns to directly embed its technology, iteratively developing new features and offering hands-on technical support as a long-term owner, working alongside the firm's staff to create customized AI-driven solutions to fit the exact needs of each specialized firm. This approach enables Multiplier to build customizable solutions to automate critical but time-consuming tasks and free up time to deliver better outcomes for clients.

'We believe the market will reward players who compete on technology-enabled client service through an integrated platform of people and tech. While our portfolio firms maintain operational independence, we align incentives across all stakeholders—from Multiplier leadership to firm leaders and staff—creating hybrid technology firms with exceptional client service, automation, and quality that traditional firms using off-the-shelf AI solutions simply cannot match,' said Noah Pepper, CEO of Multiplier Holdings and former Stripe executive.

The model is working. Within the first eight months since starting their tech build-out, Multiplier's AI-powered platform helped Citrine International Tax multiply cash flows by approximately 2.5 times and eliminate large swaths of highly manual work. A significant portion of this lift was shared back with the staff of the firm in the form of performance bonuses while delivering enhanced service to clients.

'When Noah approached us, we saw Multiplier as a unique opportunity to become part of a technology firm and deliver a truly differentiated level of client service– all while growing the business together,' said Gregory Trotman, founder of Citrine International Tax. 'The Multiplier team immersed themselves in our workflows, built a custom end-to-end technology platform and worked with our staff to streamline everything from client onboarding to billing, resulting in a huge lift in productivity.'

Clients are noticing the impact of the technology too: 'Citrine has been a major upgrade compared to prior firms we used. Emily, our advisor at Citrine, is more responsive and easier to work with, and the tools she's using help us gain clarity and confidence about where our return is in the workflow – and rapidly confirm when things have been submitted to the authorities,' said Keith Robinson, an American technology investor and former C-level executive living in London who became a Citrine client in the last year.

Adobe vs. Apple: Which AI-Driven Tech Stock is a Better Buy Now?

Adobe ADBE and Apple AAPL are infusing artificial intelligence (AI) into their core offerings. While Adobe is incorporating AI into its creative products, Apple is adding Apple Intelligence to its core operating systems that power iPhone, iPad, Mac and Wearables. According to IDC, global spending on AI-supporting technologies will surpass $749 billion by 2028. IDC expects 67% of the projected $227 billion AI spending in 2025 will come from enterprises embedding AI capabilities into their core business operations. This bodes well for both Adobe and Apple stocks. However, both stocks are playing catch-up in the AI domain against the likes of Microsoft, Amazon and Alphabet. Shares of Adobe and Apple have suffered from challenging macroeconomic conditions and volatility related to higher tariffs. Year to date, Adobe shares have lost 13.9%, outperforming Apple's drop of 21.8%. Adobe and Apple Stock's Performance So, Adobe or Apple, which has an edge under the current scenario? The Case for Adobe Stock Adobe has expanded its AI portfolio with Adobe GenStudio and Firefly Services, which help brands and their agency partners collaborate on marketing campaigns. Adobe launched Firefly Video Model-powered Generative Extend in Premiere Pro, which leverages AI to instantly generate and expand the length of video and audio clips. Early in the fiscal second quarter, Adobe launched the new Firefly Image Model 4 for life-like images and the Firefly Image Model 4 Ultra for impeccable detail in complex visuals. Adobe Firefly is improving the potency of Creative Cloud desktop applications. The Firefly App is attracting users for AI-powered content ideation, creation and production, and its support for third-party models, including from Google, OpenAI and Black Forest Labs, is a key catalyst. First-time subscribers of the Firefly app grew 30% sequentially in the fiscal second quarter. Acrobat AI Assistant is unlocking new levels of productivity by cutting time to insights through conversational interfaces. Adobe Express is using AI to enable consumers to quickly design and publish engaging content through conversational AI in an easy-to-use, all-in-one application. Adobe is integrating these solutions to facilitate a smoother creation-to-consumption process across mobile apps, web browsers and desktop offerings. Adobe's monthly active users across these categories surpassed more than 700 million users at the end of the second quarter of fiscal 2025. Adobe's AI book of business from AI-first products, including Acrobat AI assistant, Firefly App and Services and GenStudio for Performance Marketing, is tracking ahead of the $250 million ending Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) target by the end of fiscal 2025. The company exited the fiscal second quarter with Digital Media ARR of $18.09 billion, up 12% year over year. The Case for Apple Stock Apple is seeing better iPhone 16 sales in regions where Apple Intelligence is available. Apple expanded the availability of Apple Intelligence with iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4 updates in new languages, including French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (simplified) — as well as localized English for Singapore and India — and are accessible in nearly all regions around the world. At the end of 2025, Apple Intelligence will be available in eight more languages: Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese, Swedish, Turkish, Chinese (traditional) and Vietnamese. At this year's annual Worldwide Developers Conference, the company announced new Apple Intelligence features like Live Translation, updates to visual intelligence, as well as enhancements to Image Playground and Genmoji. Shortcuts can access Apple Intelligence directly. Developers also get access to the on-device large language model, which is at the core of Apple Intelligence. The latest features are now available for testing and are expected to be generally available this fall with supported devices. Apple Intelligence is now getting added to Apple Wallet, and users can make purchases with Apple Pay. Powered by Apple Intelligence, Apple Wallet can now automatically identify, summarize and display order tracking details from emails sent from merchants or delivery carriers. Meanwhile, Apple Pay expands the ability to pay with rewards and installments to in-store purchases for added flexibility and choice. Adobe Earnings Estimate Revision Positive, AAPL's Goes South The Zacks Consensus Estimate for Adobe's fiscal 2025 earnings is pegged at $20.41 per share, up 5 cents over the past 30 days, indicating a 10.8% increase over 2024's reported figure. The consensus mark for Apple's fiscal 2025 earnings has declined by a penny to $7.11 per share over the past 30 days, suggesting 5.33% growth over fiscal 2024. Valuation: Adobe is Cheaper Than Apple Both Apple and Adobe are overvalued, as suggested by the Value Score of D. In terms of forward 12-month Price/Sales, Adobe shares are trading at 6.62X, lower than Apple's 7.04X. AAPL and ADBE Valuation Here's Why Adobe is a Better Buy Than Apple Apple is expected to suffer from the underwhelming performance of Apple Intelligence and a delay in launch in important markets like Mainland China. Higher tariffs negatively impact Apple's China supply chain. Tariffs are currently expected to have a negative impact of roughly $900 million in the third quarter of fiscal 2025. Meanwhile, Adobe's growing focus on improving monetization from Firefly and GenStudio is noteworthy. GenStudio for Performance Marketing is empowering teams to create their own on-brand content, supporting ad creation and activation for Google, LinkedIn, Meta, Microsoft, Snap and TikTok. In the customer experience domain, Adobe is gaining prominence with Amazon, Microsoft, SAP and ServiceNow choosing it as their preferred partner. These factors are expected to drive top-line growth for Adobe, which is now expected between $23.5 billion and $23.6 billion (up from previous guidance between $23.30 billion and $23.55 billion). Currently, Adobe has a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), making the stock a stronger pick compared with Apple, which has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Unifor slams DHL's attempt to evade federal anti-scab law Français

TORONTO, June 18, 2025 /CNW/ - Unifor has responded to a brazen attempt by DHL Express Canada to circumvent new federal labour laws. The company sent a letter to the federal government requesting a special exception from the ramifications of Bill C-58, the anti-scab legislation that comes into effect on Friday. "Let's be clear—DHL is not the victim here. This company locked out its own workers, forcing members to respond with strike action, and now they want the government to override the collective bargaining rights of workers," said Unifor National President Lana Payne. "They chose confrontation. Now, instead of negotiating a fair agreement at the table, DHL is running to Ottawa to ask for special treatment to get around a law designed to protect workers and safeguard the integrity of collective bargaining. Unifor will stand firm, and we expect the federal government to do the same. No exemptions. No bending the rules." Unifor members at DHL Express Canada were locked out by their employer on June 8, after the workers refused to accept concessions put forth by the company. Members were forced to respond with strike action. Anti-scab legislation takes effect June 20, 2025, following years of advocacy by Unifor and the labour movement. It levels the playing field and prevents employers from dragging out disputes by using replacement workers. DHL, it seems, neither wants to negotiate fairly, nor face the consequences of a lockout. DHL has aligned itself with the 'Moving Economies' coalition —a group of employers actively working to roll back workers' bargaining rights and weaken federal protections. This latest request for exception to allow DHL to keep using scabs and/or excessive government intervention in the bargaining process is part of that broader effort to undermine the tools that workers rely on for fair and meaningful negotiations. Throughout bargaining, DHL has demanded significant concessions that would severely hurt workers. These include: Changing the driver pay system in a way that would result in less money for drivers. Forcing drivers to travel up to 100 km just to reach their routes or pick up freight—with no compensation. Proposing language that would allow the company to refuse WSIB and general workplace accommodation requests. Refusing to acknowledge and provide wage adjustments to customer service and other classifications – some of which are just barely ahead of minimum wage. Seeking the ability to lay off employees more easily. No recognition for job loss that may occur through the use of AI. Attempting to reduce the daily minimum guarantee for drivers. Rerouting pickups across the country while cutting pay for owner-operators. The German-based parcel delivery giant's annual profit is roughly $3.3 billion Euro ($4.6 billion CDN) and revenue from its significant and growing North American enterprise is worth approximately $6 billion Euro ($9.4 billion CDN). "DHL's decision to lock us out has already disrupted operations—and they want the government and the public to believe that workers are at fault," said Quebec Director Daniel Cloutier. "The power to resume full service and support customers is entirely in DHL's hands. This is a crisis of their making. The only place this dispute will be resolved is at the bargaining table." Unifor represents over 2,100 DHL Express Canada workers who as truck drivers, couriers, warehouse and clerical workers across Canada, at Locals 114 in British Columbia, 700 in Quebec, 755 in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, 4005 in Nova Scotia, 4457 in Ontario and members in DHL Alberta. Read Unifor's response to DHL's application here. Unifor is Canada's largest union in the private sector, representing 320,000 workers in every major area of the economy. The union advocates for all working people and their rights, fights for equality and social justice in Canada and abroad, and strives to create progressive change for a better future.

Honda conducts surprise reusable rocket test, aims spaceflight by 2029

Signage displayed at the Honda Motor Co. headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, Photographer: Kiyoshi Ota/Bloomberg TOKYO — Honda succeeded in a launch and landing test of its prototype reusable rocket on Tuesday, the Japanese company said in a surprise announcement, marking a milestone towards its 2029 goal of achieving a suborbital spaceflight. Honda R&D, the research arm of Japan's second-biggest carmaker, successfully landed its 6.3-meter (20.6-foot) experimental reusable launch vehicle after reaching an altitude of 271 meters (889 feet) at its test facility in northern Japan's space town Taiki, according to the company. While 'no decisions have been made regarding commercialization of these rocket technologies, Honda will continue making progress in the fundamental research with a technology development goal of realizing technological capability to enable a suborbital launch by 2029,' it said in a statement. Honda in 2021 said it was studying space technologies such as reusable rockets, but it has not previously announced the details of the launch test. A suborbital launch may touch the verge of outer space but does not enter orbit. Studying launch vehicles 'has the potential to contribute more to people's daily lives by launching satellites with its own rockets, that could lead to various services that are also compatible with other Honda business,' the company added. Reusable launch vehicles have been the driver of emerging commercial space missions over the past decade, led by SpaceX's Falcon 9, while its U.S. rivals including Blue Origin and companies in China and Europe also have reusable rocket plans. Tokyo-based startup Innovative Space Carrier last month said it will test-launch a prototype reusable rocket in the United States in December using an American engine. Honda's rival Toyota, the world's biggest automaker by sales, earlier this year announced an investment by its research arm in Taiki-based rocket maker Interstellar Technologies to support mass production of launch vehicles. Japan's government has established a multibillion-dollar space venture fund to subsidize private rockets, satellites and other missions, targeting to double its space industry's size to 8 trillion yen (US$55.20 billion) by the early 2030s.
