Ruth Madeley to headline Being Heumann

Actor Ruth Madeley, of Don't Take My Baby fame, will play the disability activist Judy Heumann in Apple Original Films's Being Heumann, which is an adaptation of the activist's memoir.
The film is directed by the Oscar-winning CODA helmer Sian Heder.
Being Heumann follows Judy Heumann as she leads more than a hundred disabled people to occupy the San Francisco Federal Building for a sit-in protest in 1977, seeking the enforcement of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, enabling accessibility to federal spaces to all.
Heumann was bound to a wheelchair after being affected by polio at 18 months. Subjected to discrimination since her childhood, she turned to disability rights activism after being denied enrollment in a public school. She has led several campaigns and was instrumental in the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act through her civil rights organisation Disabled in Action. She occupied leadership positions under the Clinton and Obama administrations.
Having starred in The Almond and the Seahorse and the Netflix film Joy, Madeley's big break came with the 2015 BBC drama Don't Take My Baby. Madeley, known for championing disability representation in the arts, was born with spina bifida - a condition affecting the spine and spinal cord development. She'll next lead BBC's The Rapture, a five-part adaptation of Liz Jensen's bestseller.

What makes Saquon Barkley confident enough to laugh off the so-called 'Madden Curse' this year?

How is Saquon Barkley shrugging off the 'Madden Curse' that sidelined other stars in the past? (EA Sports) Philadelphia has a new hero—and now, a new Madden cover star. After a jaw-dropping season that saw him rush for 2,005 yards and notch 13 touchdowns, Saquon Barkley has officially been revealed as the face of EA Sports Madden 26. The announcement, made Monday, marked yet another milestone in what has been a storybook start to his Eagles career. Why does Saquon Barkley feel the ' Madden Curse ' won't touch his performance this season? Saquon Barkley didn't just silence the doubters last season—he turned them into die-hard fans. Barkley's Super Bowl-winning performance helped him transition from a division rival to a Philly legend. In a city where passion runs deep and legacies are carved by championships, he's already earned his place among the greats. His efforts were nothing short of heroic, and the Madden cover is just the latest proof that he's now a household name in Philadelphia. While the cover selection is typically a moment of celebration, it often comes with whispers of the infamous 'Madden curse'—the myth that players who appear on the game's cover experience a downturn in performance or health the following season. But if Barkley is at all worried, he certainly isn't showing it. During an appearance on NFL Network's The Insiders, Barkley reflected on the honor, the photoshoot, and of course, the chatter around the curse. With calm conviction, he dismissed the idea entirely. 'Nah, I'm a believer in God. That's my mindset to be completely honest,' Barkley said when asked if the curse impacted his decision. 'I've had injuries before. I tore my knee. I stepped on a foot and rolled my ankle, was out for four to six weeks, and there was no curse then. That's just how life works. You're going to have your ups and downs. But my mindset [coming in] is work, do what I need to do, and the rest is in God's hands. ' Barkley's faith and unwavering work ethic were on full display—not just in the interview, but in how he's preparing for the upcoming season. While the Eagles gear up to defend their title, Barkley's focus remains on staying healthy, sharp, and impactful. The "Madden curse" lore has real-life examples, like Christian McCaffrey, who missed most of the 2024–25 season after being the Madden 25 cover star. But it's far from a guarantee. Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen all graced the cover and continued to perform at an elite level. So, is it a curse or just coincidence? That debate will likely continue. But one thing's certain: Saquon Barkley isn't buying it. His story is about resilience, redemption, and relentless drive—traits that no superstition can overshadow. And come next season, Eagles fans are hoping Barkley keeps turning doubters into believers—on the field and on the cover. Captain Marvel: Shreyas Iyer one win away from his moment in the sun

"I felt I didn't receive the recognition I deserved after winning the IPL, but at the end of the day, as long as you have self-integrity and you continue doing the right things when no one is watching, that's what truly matters – and that's what I kept doing," Shreyas Iyer said, reflecting on why he chose to leave KKR despite leading the side to an IPL wasn't a quote made for the cameras. It was a sentence soaked in silence — the kind that lingers after the lights have dimmed and the applause has faded. Iyer wasn't just talking about cricket; he was speaking about what it feels like to be invisible in plain Kolkata Knight Riders captain, he barely put a foot wrong during their 2024 IPL-winning campaign, but the presence of Gautam Gambhir, Chandrakant Pandit and Abhishek Nayar in the dugout meant Shreyas's leadership was often overshadowed. And yet, by leading Mumbai to the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title against Madhya Pradesh on Sunday, he proved there's more to his captaincy than merely executing instructions from the Read: IPL 2025 final preview, RCB vs PBKS: 17-year wait, 18th attempt, one dreamadvertisementA few months later, Shreyas Iyer became Punjab Kings' 17th captain — yes, seventeenth. If that doesn't tell you everything about the franchise's identity crisis, nothing after years of chopping and changing, of false dawns and fleeting hopes, with one win away from their maiden title, PBKS finally found their Sarpanch — a leader the fans worship, the coach trusts, and the owners can't stop smiling leader that CSK has always had in MS Dhoni, MI have in Rohit Sharma and RCB in Virat Punjab Kings fans are going gaga over Shreyas. Shreyas Iyer, once a mainstay in the Indian team, was overlooked for a central contract in 2024 after missing early-season domestic matches – a requirement set by the BCCI. He had withdrawn from a Ranji Trophy match in February 2024 due to injury concerns, prompting disciplinary response? returned to domestic cricket and played a pivotal role in Mumbai's successful run — lifting the Ranji Trophy, the Irani Cup, and the Syed Mushtaq Ali then made his way back into India's ODI side for the England series and carried that momentum into the title-winning Champions Trophy campaign, where he emerged as India's leading scorer with 243 runs in five matches, including two three months later, well past midnight on June 2, Shreyas Iyer played a gladiator's knock to seal Punjab Kings' spot in the final. With this, he became only the second captain — after MS Dhoni — to take more than one franchise to the IPL final. More remarkably, he's the only one to lead three different teams to the final in successive PONTING CONNECTION Shreyas Iyer has flourished with Ricky Ponting as coach. Courtesy: PTI Shreyas Iyer's stock soared to Rs 26.75 crore — the second-highest IPL auction bid in history — as Punjab's dogged pursuit finally succeeded. It took the vision and persistence of newly appointed head coach Ricky Ponting to secure Shreyas Iyer and steer PBKS to their first final since 2014."I was pretty keen to work with him again," Ponting said. "It was obvious how much I valued him – we had a great working relationship at Delhi and even made the final in 2020 under his captaincy. He's a quality person. When you're trying to build a winning culture, you need people like that."Since his recall into the Indian ODI side in February, Shreyas has made it a habit to deliver match-winning and impactful innings across formats. In IPL 2025, as Punjab's captain, he has led from the front. After losing the Qualifier 1, Shreyas said his team had lost the battle and not the war. And boy, he batted like a true champion in the very next game against Mumbai Indians, battling the Jasprit Bumrah-led bowling attack to score match-winning 87: probably one of his finest innings of his IPL ANCHOR TO ENFORCERLast year at KKR, Shreyas often played second fiddle. At Punjab, he's had to carry more responsibility — as their designated enforcer in a line-up without high-profile overseas match one, Ponting spoke about witnessing a new version of Shreyas: confident, assertive, and numbers back it up. For the first time, Iyer has crossed 600 runs in an IPL season. Most tellingly, his strike rate — 175.80 — is far above his career T20 average of 133.40. Having struck just 30 sixes across his last three seasons, he's smashed 39 this year last year, Shreyas has won every major trophy he's chased — IPL 2024 with KKR, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with Mumbai, and the ICC Champions Trophy with SHREYAS IYER INDIA CAPTAINCY MATERIAL? He's that good,' wrote Robin Uthappa on Gavaskar, too, feels Iyer didn't get due credit for KKR's title win in 2024 — possibly hinting at Gambhir's dominant presence."All the plaudits were given to someone else. It's the captain who influences what happens on the pitch, not someone sitting in the dugout,' Gavaskar said on Star Sports. 'This year he's getting the credit. Aashima Mahajan talks about her experience of working with A. R. Rahman in ‘Thug Life'

Playback singer Aashima Mahajan, who has crooned the song 'Jinguchaa' from the upcoming film 'Thug Life', has spoken up on the process of recording the track, and working in tandem with the Oscar and Grammy-winning music composer A. R. Rahman. Aashima has sung both the Hindi and Telugu versions of the song. The singer admitted that Telugu being a new language, posed a challenge for her as she required more takes to record the song compared to its Hindi version. The singer told, 'For the Hindi version, we recorded two to three takes, and based on the requirement of the song, he chose the one he liked. The Telugu version was a bit tougher for me and took more time and effort'. 'Jinguchaa' is a vibrant and celebratory song that has captivated audiences with its infectious energy and star-studded visuals. Aashima Mahajan shares the vocals with Sukhwinder Singh, Ronkini Gupta & Vaishali Samant, adding to the festive spirit of this foot-tapping number. The lyrics are penned by veteran megastar Kamal Haasan and the video features performances by Silambarasan TR, Sanya Malhotra, and Kamal Haasan. 'Since I don't speak Telugu, I had a pronunciation guide who helped me with the diction, learning how to pronounce the consonants and vowels correctly. I already knew the melody and emotions in the Hindi version, but switching to Telugu meant learning a new language, where even the word placement changes depending on the meaning. So, it was a bit of a challenge, but I really enjoyed the process. We ended up recording and had a lot of fun', she added. The word 'Jinguchaa' translates to 'celebrations'. Aashima is an alumnus of A.R. Rahman's KM Music Conservatory. Talking about her experience of working with A.R. Rahman, the singer said, 'It's incredibly rewarding to be part of such a beautiful and globally acclaimed project, especially with maestros like A.R. Rahman and Mani Ratnam were involved. I feel truly overwhelmed to see that the track is still trending and receiving so much love from audiences. My heart is filled with warmth and gratitude for all the appreciation the song has received'. 'Working with A.R. Rahman Sir has been nothing short of a dream come true for any singer. He is a force of music, almost a celestial soul, yet his aura is both empowering and calming, he has a way of instantly putting you at ease. I will never forget the moment when, after listening to my album track, he said I have the potential to be the Indian version of Adele. That compliment means the world to me and I will keep that in my heart forever,' she added.
