HOWELL TWP. — A group of teens allegedly led deputies with the Livingston County Sheriff's Office on a multi-county chase Wednesday, April 9, that resulted in numerous vehicles being damaged.
Around 4:34 p.m. on eastbound I-96, deputies tried to stop a 2020 BMW X5 that had been reported stolen in Calhoun County. The car fled at a high rate of speed, then exited I-96 in Brighton before turning onto a dead-end street.
According to a release from LCSO, the BMW struck a patrol car while trying to evade deputies, then got back on I-96, this time traveling west. Stop sticks were used multiple times during the pursuit, but were unsuccessful.
While still in Livingston County, the BMW struck two other vehicles on I-96, police said.
The pursuit entered Ingham County before ending in Lansing near the intersection of Cedar Street and Jolly Road, when the BMW crashed into multiple other vehicles. The BMW was disabled, so the five occupants exited and fled on foot. All were located and arrested.
According to the release, the BMW was reportedly involved in multiple thefts Wednesday in neighboring communities. Officers reported seeing the suspects throwing two handguns out the window. Both were later recovered and identified as stolen firearms from other counties.

Palmdale man killed in Phelan crash, potential hit-and-run charge pending

A Palmdale man died over the weekend from injuries he suffered in a possible hit-and run collision between his SUV and a big rig in Phelan last week, authorities said. Aaron Graham, 37, of Palmdale died at Arrowhead Regional Hospital Medical Center in Colton on Saturday, according to California Highway Patrol officials and San Bernardino County coroner's records. The crash took place about 10:05 p.m. Thursday along eastbound Highway 138, just east of Gramercy Road. Graham was driving a BMW X7 SUV east along Highway 138 prior to the wreck, CHP officials said. A Freightliner tractor-trailer was traveling in front of the BMW. "For reasons still under investigation, the driver of the BMW crashed into the rear of the Freightliner's trailer," the agency said in a written statement. Graham was found unconscious inside his SUV and taken to a hospital by paramedics, where he remained until he succumbed to his injuries. Upon arrival, officers found the involved big rig had "fled the scene," according to the statement. Authorities found the big rig suspected to have been involved in the crash a short time later, just over a mile away along Hess Road. A man at the wheel of the truck, as well as another man riding as a passenger, were unhurt, according to the CHP. No arrests were made at the scene, but the investigation continued, including the possibility of a hit-and-run charge against the truck driver, officials added. Intoxicated driving was not suspected to be a factor. More: Deputy critically wounded, suspect killed in Southern California shootout Any witnesses, or anyone with information, was asked to contact Officer E. Reed of the CHP's Victorville Area Office at (760) 241-1186. This article originally appeared on Victorville Daily Press: Palmdale man killed in Phelan crash, potential hit-and-run charge pending

Former Dallas Cowboys player charged after mother of two killed in crash

Kelvin Joseph, a former Dallas Cowboys cornerback, has been released from jail after he was allegedly involved in a crash in Texas that killed a female motorcyclist. Joseph, 25, was charged with a DWI and collision involving personal injury or death, according to the Richardson Police Department. Authorities responded to the scene in the 2400 block of U.S. 75 around 4.50 a.m. in Plano, Texas. The victim, Cody Morris, 27, was found deceased. No other cars or people were found nearby. Police officials said Joseph called the department an hour later and said he was involved in the crash. When officers arrived at his location, police said they 'observed signs of intoxication.' He was then arrested. Officials set his bail at $1,000 for the DWI charge and $25,000 for the collision involving death charge. He was released on bond on Sunday. It's believed Joseph was traveling in a BMW northbound when he allegedly hit Morris, the mother of two children and a wife, according to CBS News. Joseph was picked by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft and spent two seasons playing on the team. In 2022, authorities named him a person of interest in connection with a fatal shooting at a nightclub in Lower Greenville in Dallas, officials said. Joseph was cleared after police arrested two suspects. In 2023, Joseph was traded by the Cowboys to the Miami Dolphins. He then went on to play for different teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs. In February 2025, he joined the United Football League and signed with the DC Defenders.
