Sydney Sweeney defends controversial bathwater soap by comparing herself to Jacob Elordi: ‘It was mainly the girls…'
Before stirring the hornet's nest with her ad for American Eagle jeans, Sydney Sweeney faced backlash online for another advertising campaign which was for a bath products company, which started selling a limited-edition soap that contained her actual bathwater. Now, the actor has responded to the controversy, making it clear that she has no regrets. Sydney Sweeney has defended the limited-edition line of bar soaps made from her bathwater.(Instagram) Sydney Sweeney reacts to the backlash In June, the Anyone But You star faced backlash for her partnership with Dr. Squatch. At the time, Sweeney released a limited-edition line of bar soaps made from her bathwater. The product, officially called Sydney's Bathwater Bliss, sold out in seconds. The Emmy-nominated actor opened up about the backlash she received for her bathwater-scented soap with Dr. Squatch in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. She defended her decision by comparing herself to her Euphoria co-star Jacob Elordi. 'I think it's important to have a finger on the pulse of what people are saying, because everything is a conversation with the audience,' said Sweeney about navigating internet feedback. The limited edition soap, Bathwater Bliss, was marketed to men, but Sweeney noted that it was women who ended up having the most to say about it. 'It was mainly the girls making comments about it, which I thought was really interesting… They all loved the idea of Jacob Elordi's bathwater,' Sweeney said. Sweeney was referring to the candle that was branded Jacob Elordi's Bathwater, which was released in January 2024 amid the social media attention around Saltburn, which starred her Euphoria co-star. In the film, directed by Emerald Fennell, Barry Keoghan's character becomes obsessed with Elordi and drinks the bathwater of Elordi's character Felix. More about the backlash Sweeney, who had teamed up with the men's hygiene brand in 2024 for a body wash commercial, followed up the collaboration in May with Sydney's Bathwater Bliss. "When your fans start asking for your bathwater, you can either ignore it or turn it into a bar of Dr. Squatch soap. It's weird in the best way, and I love that we created something that's not just unforgettable, it actually smells incredible,' Sweeney said in a press release at the time. The soap's marketing theme received mixed reactions on social media, with some social media users dubbing it a "gimmick" and some questioning the item's cleanliness. Sweeney's bathwater soap isn't the only ad campaign of hers that's raised eyebrows. In July, she became the face of denim brand American Eagle's newest campaign, which featured wordplay praising Sweeney's 'great jeans.'

Taj Mahal breached? Viral video shows man filming Shah Jahan, Mumtaz's tombs, playing 'jo wada kiya' song
A video purportedly showing the inner chamber of the Taj Mahal, including the actual tombs of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal, has gone viral, triggering debate over security and public access at the world-famous monument. The clip, shared on Instagram by a popular account, appears to reveal a passageway leading to the real graves—an area long closed to tourists to preserve the sanctity and structure of the 17th-century mausoleum—as the Bollywood song 'Jo Wada Kiya' plays in the background. The footage quickly gained traction online, drawing thousands of views and comments, with many questioning how the individual managed to enter the restricted section. One user, Dipika PS (@lifewithdipika06), recalled: 'I visited Taj Mahal around 1994-95 and this area was open to the public at that time.' Another user, Twinkle Sawant (@twinkle savant), added: 'I have seen this too back in the day.' At present, visitors are only allowed to view the cenotaphs—symbolic replicas of the royal couple's graves—while the original tombs remain sealed off. The video has unsettled conservationists, who warn that such breaches could endanger the monument's preservation. The identity of the person who filmed it remains unknown, and the authenticity of the footage could not be independently verified by Mint. The Taj Mahal remains India's top tourist attraction and one of the Archaeological Survey of India's biggest revenue earners, generating ₹ 297 crore in ticket sales over five years, according to official data. In 2023-24 alone, its income far exceeded that of Delhi's Qutub Minar and Red Fort. In light of security concerns, authorities have recently deployed an anti-drone system at the site. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Taj Security) Syed Arib Ahmad confirmed that the system blocks drone signals within 200 metres of the main dome, supplementing security provided by CISF and Uttar Pradesh Police personnel.

Walking Lost On ‘Saiyaara' Track, 1952-Born Actor Asks If Dying Is Red Flag: ‘She Became Ghost'
Last Updated: Dalip Tahil shares witty Instagram Reel with dark twist on dating, popular names like Prajakta Koli, Joseph Radhik comment. Walking Lost On 'Saiyaara' Track, 1952-Born Actor Asks If Dying Is Red Flag: 'She Became Ghost'Veteran actor Dalip Tahil, born in 1952, surprised his followers with a short reel on Instagram that blended humour with a touch of darkness. In the clip, Tahil is seen walking aimlessly, looking lost, while the title track of 'Saiyaara' plays in the background. What caught the attention of fans, however, was his caption. With a tongue-in-cheek play on modern dating slang, Tahil wrote, 'Thought she was ghosting me, turns out she just became a ghost." The witty line must have surely drawn plenty of chuckles from Tahil's fans for its clever wordplay, while the unexpectedly dark twist is likely to left many others equally amused. Tahil rounded it off with the hashtag #DatingAsABoomer, poking fun at the generational gap in today's dating culture and how older generations often reinterpret modern relationship terms. Adding to the twist, he also posed a cheeky rhetorical question, 'Is dying a red flag?" This again might have sparked both laughter and raised eyebrows among viewers. The reel has so far garnered 3.5 million views and drawn a flurry of reactions in the comments section. Photographer Joseph Radhik joined in on the wordplay, writing, 'No heartbeat, no heartbreak." Actress Prajakta Koli responded with six 'face with tears of joy' emojis, while actress Ritabhari Chakraborty dropped three 'rolling on the floor laughing' emojis. It seemed as if both of them were clearly amused by Tahil's darkly comic take on 'ghosting." Known for his versatile roles across films, television and theatre, Tahil has entertained audiences for decades with his strong screen presence. With this reel, he reminded fans that his wit and sense of timing remain as sharp as ever, proving that even in the era of Instagram reels, he knows exactly how to capture attention. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
