NCAA softball has exploded in popularity over the last few years. So much so that the television ratings have surpassed those of the College Baseball World Series in recent seasons. The game is faster than its male counterpart and folks are taking notice.
To that end, the 2025 NCAA Softball Tournament field was announced on Sunday, so we got our first look at the 64 teams that made the bracket and the top 16 teams that will host regional play beginning this weekend. Of course, we are interested in Ohio State's fate and path -- which just so happens to be a very difficult one -- but we're here to bring you the entire bracket and schedule that will all kick off this weekend in places like Knoxville, Tallahassee, Gainesville, and College Station.

2025 NCAA Softball Tournament format
If you aren't used to how the NCAA Softball Tournament works, it's an interesting format. Each of the top 16 seeds hosts a mini, four-team double-elimination tournament. The winner of each of those then advances to eight different Super Regional, where two of the regional champions participate in a best-of-three series for the right to advance to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City. Those eight teams will participate in another double-elimination tournament to crown a champion.

Ohio State Athletic Director Ross Bjork meets with media to discuss state of program

Ohio State Athletic Director Ross Bjork meets with media to discuss state of program College athletics continue to be transformed at breakneck speed. Over the last few years, we've seen conferences re-align, Name, Image and Likeness become prevalent and extremely meaningful, the transfer portal turn college athletics into free-agency, and now, we have direct revenue sharing taking center stage after the approval of the House Settlement. With all of that going on, and with the recent news that will again change things, Ohio State Athletic Director Director Ross Bjork took some time to meet with the media to give a state of college athletics, what it means for Ohio State, and provide some direction of the program given the size and impact of such a massive athletic department. He also took time to field some questions from the media that made their way to the banks of the Olentangy. It was a long and wide-ranging press conference, but we felt it necessary to provide the full video and audio of Bjork's time at the podium on Thursday to give you the full scale of all of his comments. Watch and listen to Bjork discuss things like the House Settlement, how revenue sharing will be funded, expanding the College Football Playoff, the status of night games, and much more. Thanks to WBNS 10TV, the CBS affiliate in Columbus for the video. This won't be the last time we hear from Bjork with the everchanging landscape of college athletics. Ohio State had a really good AD with Gene Smith prior to Bjork's arrival, and so far the newest AD seems to know what he's doing and is ready to also knock it out of the park. WATCH: Former Ohio State golfer eagles Par 4 on opening hole of U.S. Open

WATCH: Former Ohio State golfer eagles Par 4 on opening hole of U.S. Open For those golf fans out there, another major event has come to a television or streaming device near you in the form of the U.S. Open. Things got started at Oakmont Country Club on Thursday, and former Ohio State golfer Maxwell Moldovan is a part of all the action once again. That in itself is newsworthy, but even more noteworthy is how Moldovan opened up the tournament. He hit a drive in a good spot off of tee No. 1, then proceeded to knock one stiff onto the green on the Par 4 hole. What happened next would be hard to believe if there weren't cameras to catch the action. The ball rolled onto the green and slowly made its way to the hole, where it trickled in for a two-shot eagle to open his round of the 125th U.S. Open. If you didn't get a chance to catch this unbelievable shot, you can re-live it thanks to the U.S. Open "X" account (formerly Twitter). Unfortunately for Moldovan, he couldn't keep a consistent round going and shot an opening round 76 (+6) and sits in a tie for No. 99 as the field gets ready for the second round on Friday. He is right on the projected cut line, so there is work to do coming home on Friday if Moldovan wants to make it to the third round on Saturday.
