Isak to return to training with Newcastle
Alexander Isak is returning to the UK and is set to resume training with Newcastle United following working individually at Real Sociedad.
Isak has been training alone at his former club's Zubieta Facilities in the Basque country, but is now set to return to Newcastle's base – although the majority of the rest of the first team squad are currently on a pre-season tour in Asia.
The news of Isak's return comes the day after The Athletic reported that Newcastle had rejected a formal bid from Liverpool of £110million for the Sweden international, who wants to leave St James' Park this summer.
Liverpool's stance is that they are not inclined to bid again after the quick rebuttal to their first offer, but their interest in the player is ongoing.
The Premier League champions initially made an informal approach to Newcastle, expressing interest in doing a deal in the region of £120m, as reported by The Athleticon July 15.
Newcastle, who will compete in the Champions League next season, have tried to tie Isak to an improved contract which would include a release clause next summer, and attempted to convince him to stay through his senior team-mates. The forward, however, has not changed his stance, which has been made clear to the club for some time.
Isak has been absent from Newcastle's pre-season tour of Asia, with sources, speaking anonymously as they were not authorised to do so publicly, saying the decision was the player's preference. The club cited a minor thigh problem for his absence.

The third stage of the cycling league concludes in Erbil governorate
INA - BAGHDAD The third stage of the Iraqi Clubs Cycling Championship concluded in Erbil Governorate on Saturday for the advanced, youth, and junior categories. "Al-Saniya Club won the overall individual race for the junior category, over a distance of 45 km, followed by Al-Nidhal Club, while third place went to Erbil Club," according to a statement from the Central Cycling Federation, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA. The statement included, "In the overall individual race for the 45 km youth category, Al-Hadba Club won first place, while Duhok Club came in second, and third place went to Awlad Raji Specialist Club. The individual results for the junior category resulted in Naft Al-Wasat Club player Ali Issam Majid winning first place, Al-Nidal Club player Ammar Ihab Abdul Khader coming in second, and Al-Saniya Club player Saif Abdul Hamza Hamid taking third place." "In the individual junior competition, Al-Hadbaa Club player Yousef Ghazal Ali took first place, while Duhok Club player Abdul Rahman Shifan Akram took second place, and Al-Hadbaa Club player Osama Qutaiba Yassin came in third. PM: Iraq's interests are paramount, as evidenced by the support of the supreme religious authority

Al-Sudani held on Saturday three meetings with groups of tribal sheikhs and dignitaries from Tikrit, Al-Awja, Al-Dour, Baiji, and Al-Sharqat, as well as other districts and sub-districts in Salah Al-Din Province. The meetings took place at the guesthouse of Member of the Parliament Haitham Al-Zahwan, in the presence of Provincial MP Zuhair Muhammed Al-Zahwan, Sheikh Hatem Abdul Karim Al-Nada, and Sheikh Yasser Shukr Mahal. These meetings were part of the PM's visit to the province to follow up on, inaugurate, and launch several service projects, according to a statement by the PM's Media Office - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA. The discussions focused on the social, economic, and service-related conditions in the province, in light of the ongoing implementation of projects across various sectors aimed at delivering essential services to citizens, as pledged in the government's program and its core priorities.
