EXCLUSIVE Passengers clap and cheer as young woman is hauled off Jetstar flight from Vanuatu after alleged vile act in mid-air
The Sydney-bound flight had just landed from Port Vila, Vanuatu, on Saturday night when Australian Federal Police officers boarded and escorted the woman off in front of a full cabin.
Flanked by three AFP officers, the woman was seen strutting confidently down the aisle, waving at fellow passengers and smiling for cameras as she filmed the dramatic moment on her phone.
'She didn't seem bothered by any of it,' said passenger Clint Williams, who was returning from a holiday with his children.
'They made everyone wait to get off the plane while the police got on, arrested her, and dragged her out.
'It actually looked like she was enjoying the attention. Multiple passengers started filming and she was waving and even poked her tongue out smiling.'
The mid-flight commotion allegedly began shortly after take-off from the tiny Pacific island, when a family sitting near the woman raised concerns about her behaviour.
Mr Williams said cabin crew intervened after the woman was suspected of vaping, breaching aviation law which can result in a hefty fine or court appearances.
'I asked the family what was going on and they said she was being really abusive to the staff when they tried to talk to her,' he said.
As tensions boiled over during the three-hour flight, raised voices could be heard from the rear of the aircraft, prompting the crew to call ahead for assistance.
Upon arrival at Sydney's Kingsford Smith Airport, all passengers were told to remain seated while authorities boarded the plane.
In a video provided to the Daily Mail Australia, one officer could be heard asking: 'Did you vape? That's the allegation.'
The woman defiantly unzipped her bag and pulled out a packet of cigarettes, insisting she didn't have a vape.
'Let's look in my whole bag and see if I have a vape,' she said rummaging further. 'I have cigarettes, not a vape.'
When an officer reached for the phone she had been using to film the encounter, saying, 'I will take that for you,' the woman quickly snatched it back, claiming it was for her safety.
Moments later, she was placed under arrest and escorted off the aircraft as she yelled and tried to wrestle free.
Once she had been removed, the remaining passengers clapped and cheered in delight at finally being allowed to disembark.
The family who initially raised the alarm were later seen talking to the AFP officers.
It is not known who the woman was travelling with, but a male passenger was seen carrying her bag from the aircraft.
The AFP confirmed their officers responded to reports of a woman allegedly causing a disturbance on a flight from Vanuatu.
'The passenger was allegedly intoxicated, verbally abusive, and aggressive towards other passengers and crew members,' the spokesperson said.
'AFP members met the flight when it arrived at Sydney Airport and escorted the woman off the aircraft.
'After investigations, the AFP issued the woman with a court attendance notice for two charges'
The woman is now due to appear in court on one count of offensive disorderly behaviour on board an aircraft during flight and one count of conduct causing public nuisance.

The leader of the NSW Liberals, which Ward was formerly a part of, said: 'Every day he clings to his seat from a jail cell, taxpayers are footing the bill and the people of Kiama are left voiceless. It's not just wrong, it's offensive.' Ron Hoenig, the leader of the House, said the government would seek an urgent hearing this week to have the injunction lifted. He told reporters: 'The issue is, as you would appreciate, of considerable significance. 'The House needs to be able to make its judgment to protect itself. And we will be seeking a review of the judge's decision.' Ward said he planned to appeal his convictions, and should remain in parliament until this appeal is heard. Bizarre law change sees an accused murderer on bail without any monitoring
A man accused of planning a fatal suburban shooting will remain free without monitoring after the NSW government banned ankle bracelets for people on bail. Police believe that the deadly July 2023 shooting of three people in their cars on a street about 2am in Greenacre in Sydney 's west was sparked by a dispute between two of the city's criminal gangs. Adam El-Shaimy, 36, has been charged with murder and two counts of shoot with intent to murder but was granted bail in October 2024 after putting up $2.2 million in surety. One of his strict conditions was wearing an ankle bracelet. After the NSW government banned electronic monitoring via private firms because of concerns about their effectiveness in May, crown prosecutors sought to place El-Shaimy back on remand. Leaving the 36-year-old outside prison without an ankle bracelet would pose a unacceptable risk of flight, prosecutor Damien Hannan told Justice Andrew Coleman on Tuesday. The judge noted that El-Shaimy couldn't be fitted with electronic monitoring run by NSW Correctives Services as that could only be done in prison. CCTV footage was played on Tuesday of El-Shaimy and others charged over the alleged murder plot meeting up before and afterwards, and the movements of cars around the time of the shooting. The hit was allegedly carried out after a tracker was found on a vehicle belonging to one associate Ammar Chahal, 40, leading the gang to believe that a rival crime organisation was after him, the court was told. A plan was allegedly formed to park the tracked car on the street near Chahal's Greenacre house setting a trap. However, the alleged gunman Anthony Pele was told not to shoot at anyone in their cars and instead to wait until anyone tried to grab Chahal from his home, El-Shaimy's barrister Philip Strickland said. A conversation recorded by an undercover police officer showed that the shooter worked alone, the barrister argued. 'What did you do that for?' Chahal allegedly asked. 'Deal was you do it outside my house so you've got an alibi.' Pele - who is overseas and has a warrant out for his arrest - then said he acted on his own, Mr Strickland told the court. 'It was Pele on his own bat,' the barrister said. Ahmed Al Azzam, 25, was shot and later died in hospital while a couple in a separate car were also hit with bullets, leaving the man with life-altering spinal injuries. While El-Shaimy was not there when the shooting occurred, he is accused of agreeing to the deadly plan and participating in it. He was allegedly part of a convoy of white BMWs escorting Pele's vehicle to act as a distraction for police and rival gangs before the gunman's car peeled off and headed to the shooting. Mr Strickland urged his client's continued release without monitoring, saying that El-Shaimy did not know anything about the murder plot. In October 2024, Justice Robertson Wright described aspects of the crown case as 'verging on the speculative' when he granted bail. Justice Coleman agreed with his colleague's assessment, dismissing the detention application and leaving El-Shaimy out on bail. Shadow attorney-general Alister Henskens told AAP this showed the transition of private monitoring out of the system had been botched. 'Clearly the government's public electronic monitoring is failing because the court should've been given the option of putting this person on public monitoring in place of private monitoring,' he said. El-Shaimy has not yet entered formal pleas. His matter will return to Burwood Local Court on September 10.

Four-week-old baby is found with broken bones in sickening alleged case of child neglect
A man and a woman have been charged after allegedly assaulting a four-week-old baby in Adelaide 's south, leaving the newborn with serious injuries. Police allege the newborn was taken to hospital with a swollen leg on May 3 where a medical examination identified injuries including bone fractures. Detectives from the Southern District Criminal Investigation Branch launched an investigation into the child's injuries. Following investigations, a woman, 34, and a man, 33, both from Reynella East, in Adelaide's south, were arrested on Tuesday. They were both charged with criminal neglect and recklessly causing serious harm. Police said the parties were known to one another. They were granted bail to appear at Christies Beach Magistrates Court in September.
