Keith Urban to headline CBS music competition series The Road
Keith Urban will headline CBS's upcoming music competition series The Road, set to debut this fall.
The show, which aims to discover emerging musical talent, will feature Urban performing at various venues across Texas, Tennessee, and Oklahoma. Participants will compete for a chance to remain on the tour by winning over local audiences, who will have a say in which artists continue with the headlining act.
Urban, who has vast experience in live performance, is no stranger to the world of reality television. He previously served as a judge on American Idol and a coach on the Australian version of The Voice. Reflecting on his early years, Urban shared that he spent much of his underage life performing in small, low-key venues, sometimes for just a bartender. 'I love the idea of throwing artists into a real-world environment to find out if they are artists,' he stated. 'Paying your dues sucks, but there are things in this business that can't be taught, like how to put together a set list or how to work the crowd.'
The series will not only showcase Urban's performances but will also follow emerging artists as they support him on stage, hoping to win the crowd's favor. The performances will take place at various iconic venues, with free tickets available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Scheduled dates include stops in cities like Dallas, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Memphis, and Nashville, with Urban concluding the tour at the renowned Ryman Auditorium.
Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, David Glasser's 101 Studios, and Lucky Horseshoe Productions, The Road will also feature executive producers Blake Shelton and Taylor Sheridan. Urban, who released his album High last September, will embark on his High and Alive World Tour in May.
The Road will premiere in the fall.

Kyrgios 'disappointed' after Wimbledon blow
Nick Kyrgios will miss Wimbledon for a third successive year after another injury setback. The Australian has not played at the All England Club since reaching his only grand slam singles final in 2022, where he was beaten by Novak Djokovic. After more than two years on the sidelines with knee and wrist problems, Kyrgios returned at the start of this season but was forced to abandon plans to play doubles at the French Open after suffering another knee injury. And he has now revealed he will not be able to play in his favourite part of the season, writing on Instagram: "Just wanted to give everyone a quick update – I've hit a small setback in my recovery and unfortunately won't make it back for grass this year. "I know how much you've all been looking forward to seeing me out there, and I'm genuinely sorry to disappoint. This is just a bump in the road though, and I'm already working hard to get back stronger than ever. "Thank you for all your continued support – it means everything to me. See you soon!" The 30-year-old's career was put in jeopardy by a torn ligament in his wrist in 2023, which required surgery and kept him out for a year and a half. He finally returned to action in January but admitted after losing to Britain's Jacob Fearnley in the first round of the Australian Open that he might have played his last singles match at Melbourne Park. He was in tears when more pain in his wrist prompted him to retire at Indian Wells in March, although he did win his first singles match since 2022 against Mackenzie McDonald in Miami later that month in what was his most recent tournament. Kyrgios was still a draw at Wimbledon last year after moving into TV punditry, while he will be appearing at the New Wimbledon Theatre on June 24 as part of the live tour of his podcast 'Good Trouble'.

JoJo Siwa calls Mickey Rourke a ‘rat', says she's ‘head over heels' for Chris Hughes: 'You can't help who you love'
JoJo Siwa has spoken out about her dramatic Celebrity Big Brother experience, describing actor Mickey Rourke as 'some rat' after his remarks about her sexuality, and confirming that her relationship with fellow housemate Chris Hughes is no longer platonic. 'It's been a beautiful development, a beautiful connection, and I'm absolutely head over heels for him and he's the same way,' she told The Guardian. The 22-year-old pop star and business mogul revealed that the reality show not only transformed her perspective but also brought unexpected joy into her life. 'By a landslide, it is the best thing that's ever happened to me,' she said of the experience. Siwa and Hughes, who defended her during Rourke's offensive comments in the house, formed a close bond that quickly sparked fan speculation. Though she initially denied any romantic involvement, Siwa now admits the relationship has evolved. 'You can't help who you love,' she said, expressing how natural their connection has become. Despite early tabloid rumours and her recent split from Australian actor Kath Ebbs, Siwa insists her happiness is genuine. Recalling her conflict with Rourke, Siwa reflected, 'As it was happening, I just froze.' Despite the pain, she remained composed, stating firmly, 'Some rat doesn't get to ruin this for me.' She also shared how much joy Chris has brought into her life: 'Literally yesterday, I was massaging my cheeks; I've never been in pain from smiling so much.' Siwa and Hughes' relationship began during Celebrity Big Brother UK in April 2025, where their bond quickly deepened. By May, they confirmed their romance during a holiday in Mexico, followed by a rose-filled reunion at Heathrow. A recent Snapchat post showing Hughes kissing Siwa's forehead further solidified their growing closeness.

Khabib Nurmagomedov's sparks praise for Islamic commitment
During CBS's Champions League final broadcast, UFC icon Khabib Nurmagomedov once again found himself at the centre of cultural conversation—not for his undefeated record in the octagon, but for a quiet moment of religious adherence. As the post-match panel, hosted by sports anchor Kate Scott, reflected on Paris Saint-Germain's 5-0 demolition of Bayern Munich, Nurmagomedov joined the live set alongside YouTuber IShowSpeed. Greeted warmly by the panel including Jamie Carragher, Micah Richards, and Thierry Henry he offered firm handshakes all around. But when Scott extended hers, he respectfully declined. After refusing to shake hands with the female TV presenter, Thierry Henry should have refused to welcome Khabib Nurmagomedov. It would have been a powerful act # — Michaël Pilater (@mikapilater) June 1, 2025 What could have easily turned awkward was instead navigated with calm professionalism. Scott quickly offered a warm apology on-air. 'I apologise, thank you so much. Khabib, UFC fighter, it's a pleasure to have you,' she said, swiftly shifting the conversation to football. Viewers online quickly lauded Nurmagomedov for remaining true to his values. As a devout Sunni Muslim from Dagestan, he follows a tenet of Islam that forbids physical contact with women outside one's family. The act, to many, was more than etiquette; it was a visible expression of religious conviction. Khabib Nurmagomedov is a devout Muslim and a true ambassador of Islam. We admire you for upholding Islamic values, including your respectful stance on avoiding handshakes with women. Much respect, but I wish you were a Barca fan, brother! — Extraordinary Ustaz 👳🏾♂️📿 (@bapphah) June 1, 2025 Some people see boundaries as threats. They can't comprehend that respect in Islam isn't shown by physical contact, but by restraint, principle, and self-discipline. While critics may view such decisions through a Western liberal lens, many others see in him a quiet dignity and unwavering spiritual compass. The moment has since drawn praise from Muslim viewers and conservative commentators, calling Nurmagomedov a 'true ambassador of Islam' in the global spotlight an athlete whose faith shapes not only his words, but his every action.
