Arab Times08-05-2025

NEW YORK, May 8: Brad Arnold, the lead vocalist of the rock band 3 Doors Down, has revealed that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 clear cell renal cell carcinoma, a type of kidney cancer. In a video shared on his Instagram on Wednesday, Arnold disclosed that the cancer has spread to his lung.
'That's not real good,' Arnold said in the video, though he emphasized that he has 'no fear' and is 'sincerely not scared of it at all.'
Clear cell renal cell carcinoma is the most common form of kidney cancer, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Due to his diagnosis, 3 Doors Down has canceled their upcoming tour, which was scheduled to begin on May 15 in Daytona Beach. All tour dates have been removed from the band's official website and replaced with Arnold's video announcement.
In his message, Arnold asked fans to 'lift me up in prayer every chance you get,' humorously referencing the band's 2008 song 'It's Not My Time.'
Support poured in from fans and fellow musicians, including Creed frontman Scott Stapp, who commented, 'If anyone has the FAITH and STRENGTH to face this fight, it's YOU brother... we are lifting you up in prayer right now believing without doubt for your total healing!'
3 Doors Down was formed in the mid-1990s, with Arnold as a founding member. The band rose to fame with hit songs such as 'Here Without You,' 'When I'm Gone,' and their breakout single 'Kryptonite,' which reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Kuwait and China expand renewable energy cooperation

It's been over three years since Zac Brown Band bassist and songwriter John Driskell Hopkins was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease). Now, he's offering an update on his condition, and sharing an emotional new song that he wrote for his wife and daughters, "I Love You Forever." According to the Mayo Clinic , ALS is a "progressive nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, causing loss of muscle control." There is no cure for ALS. The average life expectancy for a person with ALS after diagnosis is about 2-5 years. When he first announced his diagnosis, Hopkins described his symptoms as "slow-progressing." Today, Hopkins continues to perform with Zac Brown Band. He and the band launched a foundation called Hop on a Cure that supports research to prevent, reverse and cure ALS. Hopkins has made some modifications to his performances, like slowing down his guitar parts, and he no longer jumps onstage like other members of the band. "I really wish I could run out into the thrust and jump, but I am parked over at my microphone," he tells People . "And they come run over to me and they never let me feel like I'm not involved. And that's wonderful." He also says that he believes his continuing involvement in his music career is having a positive impact on his health. "For me, keeping going is really important," he says elsewhere in his People interview. "I feel like if I did sit in a recliner and play the whole 'woe is me' card, I would be a lot worse off." He tells Us Weekly that he was inspired to write "I Love You Forever" as a way to bottle up everything he wants his family to know after he loses the ability to communicate with them verbally. "The only thing I could think of was, 'What do I say to my girls that will wrap everything up in one phrase?'" he explains. "'I Love You Forever' was the only thing that made sense. I've turned the song into a bit of a fatherly advice piece." Here Are the Lyrics to John Driskell Hopkins' "I Love You Forever": Today is the only day that we are given / Life is a festival, you should be livin' / Don't worry, baby / When things get crazy True friends are loyal, they love us in spite / Of our faults and bring joy all throughout our whole lives / The slings and arrows are weak / And shallow Chorus: And I love you forever / Alone or together / Perfect days, stormy weather / I love you forever Boys don't need nearly as much as they tell you / Patience is prudent when all hell breaks loose / Children need holding / Even when scolding And I don't know how long this body will hold me / But my hope for you is you will grow old / We will be together in the ever after Repeat Chorus Wait / There's love all around you / Reminds you that all is not lost / Oh, wait / You girls and your mother / You have one another to hold and lean on / Always know that Repeat Chorus You are my sunshine in stormy weather / Forever together / I love you forever Carly Pearce, Mark Chesnutt and Colt Ford have all made headlines recently for serious medical problems, but they are not the only country stars living with chronic illness. Selena Gomez shuts down body shamers, reveals health struggle

LOS ANGELES, Nov 6: Selena Gomez has once again shut down social media body shamers, revealing a health condition in the process. The Only Murders in the Building star and founder of Rare Beauty responded to comments about her weight on TikTok, disclosing that she lives with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). Her disclosure came shortly after attending the red carpet for the premiere of her film Emilia Pérez at the American French Film Festival in Hollywood on October 29. At the event, Gomez, 32, wore a black, body-hugging gown. However, some TikTok users, in a now-deleted post, commented on her posing with her hands across her stomach, claiming she was hiding her body, according to TMZ. The actress, who has previously confronted body shamers, responded to the video by saying, 'This makes me sick.' In her reply, Gomez shared her SIBO diagnosis, explaining in several screenshots that the condition flares up. She emphasized, 'I don't care that I don't look like a sick figure. I don't have that body. End of story.' She also added, 'No I am NOT a victim. I'm just human.' According to the Mayo Clinic, SIBO occurs when there is an abnormal increase in the bacterial population in the small intestine, including bacteria typically not found there. This condition often results from circumstances such as surgery or disease that slow the movement of food and waste through the digestive tract. Gomez had previously shared in 2017 that she had undergone a kidney transplant due to lupus nephritis, where lupus, an autoimmune disease, caused her kidneys to fail. Symptoms of SIBO can include bloating, abdominal pain, and nausea. Gomez has been open about her physical and mental health struggles, including her ongoing battle with lupus, and her experiences with bipolar disorder, anxiety, and depression. In a September interview with Vanity Fair, she revealed that due to her health conditions, she is unable to carry a child. She shared that she would likely pursue surrogacy or adoption when she decides to start a family. 'That was something I had to grieve for a while,' she admitted. Earlier this year, in February 2023, Gomez addressed her body and weight issues again, acknowledging that the medication she takes to manage lupus causes her to retain water. "Not a model. Never gonna be," she said in a TikTok live, while reminding her followers of their own beauty. "I just want people to know that you're beautiful and you're wonderful, and yeah, we have days where maybe we feel like s—, but I would much rather be healthy and take care of myself," she said, adding that her medications are essential and help her manage her health.
