Four people were killed in a shooting near a corporate building in New York City on Monday evening. Eyewitness has shared a video from the shooting scene, showing horror unfolding.
Four people, including a New York Police Department official, were killed in a shooting inside a Midtown Manhattan skyscraper on Monday evening (local time), sending shockwaves in the entire city. A woman who witnessed the horror at the scene said that it reminded her of the 9/11 attacks.
The gunman, identified as Shane Tamura, 27, was gunned down by the cops soon after the shooting, according to local media reports.
The incident took place as Tamura opened fire in a corporate building housing NFL headquarters and offices of several major financial firms, such as hedge fund giant Blackstone. Several people were injured in the incident.
Eyewitness Account
Kathleen Benanti, an eyewitness, shared a video of the incident on Facebook and informed people about the real-time situation outside her building.
'There is an active shooter outside or near my building (park ave between 53rd & 54th). Park Avenue is a sea of cop cars, fire engines, and ambulances. We're being told to shelter in place and stay away from the windows. I am safe but shaken," she wrote on Facebook, sharing two videos on her timeline showing visuals from the scene.
She later told NBC that the entire sequence of events reminded her of the horrific attacks on the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001, also known as the 9/11 attacks.
'I had a bit of a ptsd response that came out of the blue. I lived through 9/11, and all the sights/sounds reminded me of that day. I'm ok now," she told the outlet in a message.
Describing the horror, she said, 'Some people came running back inside, saying people were shouting on the street that there was an active shooter."
Benanti said that the safety director issued the alert to shelter in place and stay away from the windows.

Trump offers $50 mn reward for arrest of Venezuela's leader Nicolas Maduro for drug smuggling

US President Donald Trump has offered $50 million in reward for the arrest of Venezuela's leader Nicolas Maduro, who is accused of running one of the world's largest drug smuggling networks targeting the United States. The reward is double the bounty once put on Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden's head. read more Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro speaks as he presents a proposal to reform the constitution in a session of the National Assembly in Caracas, Venezuela on February 15, 2025. Reuters File The Trump administration is doubling to $50 million a reward for the arrest of Venezuela's President Nicolás Maduro, accusing him of being one of the world's largest narco-traffickers and working with cartels to flood the US with fentanyl-laced cocaine. 'Under President Trump's leadership, Maduro will not escape justice and he will be held accountable for his despicable crimes,' Attorney General Pam Bondi said Thursday in a video announcing the reward. Maduro was indicted in Manhattan federal court in 2020, during the first Trump presidency, along with several close allies on federal charges of narco-terrorism and conspiracy to import cocaine. At the time, the US offered a $15 million reward for his arrest. That was later raised by the Biden administration to $25 million — the same amount the US offered for the capture of Osama bin Laden following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Last month, the Trump administration struck a deal to secure the release of 10 Americans jailed in the capital, Caracas, in exchange for Venezuela getting home scores of migrants deported by the United States to El Salvador under the Trump administration's immigration crackdown. Shortly after, the White House reversed course and allowed US oil producer Chevron to resume drilling in Venezuela after it was previously blocked by US sanctions. Bondi said the Justice Department has seized more than $700 million in assets linked to Maduro, including two private jets, and said 7 million tons of seized cocaine had been traced directly to the leftist leader. Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil released a statement characterizing the reward as 'pathetic' and accusing Bondi of orchestrating a 'crude political propaganda operation.' 'We're not surprised, coming from whom it comes from. The same one who promised a nonexistent 'secret list' of Epstein and who wallows in scandals for political favors,' Gil said, referring to the backlash Bondi faced after the Justice Department announced last month that a long-rumored 'client list' of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein does not exist. Kap's Café, located in Surrey, British Columbia, is owned by comedian Kapil Sharma and his wife Ginni Chatrath. A purported video of the attack surfaced on social media in which at least 25 gunshots were heard. The cafe came under a similar attack on July 10, which authorities believe was orchestrated by the Laddi gang linked to the banned Khalistani terrorist outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). When Kapil Sharma Reacted To The Attack At His Cafe Last week, Kapil Sharma, in a collaborative post with his wife, Ginni, shared a video of officials visiting his café as they enjoyed a peaceful meal. However, what caught everyone's attention was the caption of the post, in which Kapil made it clear that they do not support any sort of violence. 'Thank you Mayor Brenda Locke, @surreypoliceservice and all the officials who visited @thekapscafe_ to show their love and support. United we stand against violence. We're truly grateful," the comedian wrote. Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
