HIT 3 script entirely original, accusations are false, says Nani
Actor Nani has filed a counter affidavit in response to a recent petition by Tamil scriptwriter and author Vimalavelan, who alleged that the actor's recent Telugu film HIT: The Third Case was plagiarised from his script (Agent 11) and novel (Agent V).

claimed that the accusations are 'false, misleading and unfounded'.
Since Vimalavelan's script is written in Tamil, Nani and the other respondents stated that they are not familiar with the language and have requested for its official English translation so that they can give an effective and informed response on the alleged similarities between both scripts.
They also claimed that the similarities pointed out by Vimalavelan are standard tropes and recurring motifs in the thriller, crime, and investigative genres.
'These elements are not unique, distinctive, or original to the plaintiff's work, nor are they protectable under copyright law,' stated the affidavit while opposing the writer's request for an interim injunction.
Vimalavelan had claimed that he sent the synopsis of his script to Nani's mail ID that was mentioned on his Facebook page in 2022, and that's how the actor accessed his script.
Responding to the same, the affidavit countered the claim and stated that the email address is 'not actively monitored for unsolicited creative submissions, nor is it used as an official channel for receiving or reviewing story/scripts'.

1 2 Bhubaneswar: The higher education department has asked colleges and state public universities to establish a 'Shaktishree empowerment cell' by Aug 25 and select a 'Shaktishree Sathi' (peer leader) by Aug 20 to ensure holistic safety and well-being of girl students on campuses. The two initiatives are part of the Shaktishree initiative launched by the state govt a few days ago to bring transformative empowerment and carry out self-defence programmes for all undergraduate and postgraduate girl students. Shaktishree initiative focuses on ensuring the holistic safety of female students — physical, legal, mental and digital — while safeguarding campuses of higher education institutes across the state. Higher education director Kaliprasanna Mahapatra said the cell will be established as a permanent, year-round body in all higher education institutes across the state. The student-led cell aims to promote security, empowerment and a safe environment for female students and staff. The cell will comprise the 'Shaktishree Sanjojika' (coordinator), 'Shaktishree Saathi', and female class representatives. To ensure a transparent and participatory selection process, a screening committee will be formed at the institute level for the selection of the 'Shaktishree Saathi'. Cop from Nilgiris jailed for abusing dog trainer by caste name
Coimbatore: A police constable attached to the Nelakottai police station in the Nilgiri district was arrested on Saturday for abusing a 33-year-old man using his caste name. The arrested cop is identified as S Marutha Vinayagam, a native of Tirunelveli. According to a police officer, S Sivagnanam, a dog trainer from Mayiladuthurai district, moved to Coimbatore in 2007 and was residing at Lakshmi Nagar at Bommanampalayam near Vadavalli. He was working at a kennel owned by Ravichandran at IOB Colony in the city. "In 2021, when Sivagnanam attended a dog show in Rajapalayam in Virudhunagar district, Ravichandran introduced him to Marutha Vinayagam. Subsequently, the cop asked Sivagnanam to train his dog for upcoming shows. Sivagnanam handled the cop's dog at the (dog) shows held in Coimbatore and Ooty from 2022 to 2024." a police officer said. According to the officer, Ravichandran bought two Kanni (breed) dogs from the police constable in 2024. Unsatisfied with the quality of dogs, Ravichandran attempted to return them to the cop, who refused to take them back, he said. "Ravichandran then gave the two dogs to his friends. "Later that day, Marutha Vinayagam sent abusive messages to Sivagnanam's friend Franklin, mentioning Sivagnanam's community name. He also insulted his superior police officers and claimed that no one could take action against him." the officer said. On Friday night, Sivagnanam lodged a complaint with the Vadavalli police, who registered a case against Marutha Vinayagam under section 296(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and sections 3(i)(s) and 3(2)(vii) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Dalit women survivors seek separate law for caste crimes
1 2 Madurai: Dalit women survivors of caste violence, especially murder of spouses, have emphasised their demand for a separate law to deal with crimes involving inter-caste love marriages or relationships. In several such cases, the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act may not be applicable, they said. At a programme organised by the dalit rights NGO, Evidence, in Madurai on Saturday, activist and survivor Kausalya said that even now, the state and central govts do not have any data on caste ('honour') killings. Her husband Shankar was murdered in a gruesome instance of caste violence in 2016. "When there is no separate law to deal with these cases, some of the accused named remain free. Every time a caste killing happens, I feel depressed and saddened. Recently, I reached out to the girl who was Kavin's lover as I knew the pain she must have been feeling," she added.
