One of his straightforward but ingenious culinary tips includes adding just a dash of salt to your black coffee. Dr Rajan advises: "The salt blocks the bitterness receptors on your tongue, making the coffee taste way smoother and requiring less sugar."
The experts at Espresso Works concur, pointing out that salt doesn't just highlight the nutty notes in certain coffee varieties but also accentuates their natural sweetness, resulting in a flavour that's less bitter and more balanced, even sans sugar, reports the Express.
Salt can also enhance the aromatic experience of black coffee, not just its flavour.
Drinking your coffee black can have a number of important health benefits. One of these is a potentially reduced risk of developing type 2 diabetes in the long-term, according to Healthline.
It might even contribute to warding off various neurodegenerative conditions, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.
Black coffee might also affect fat storage and boost gut health, both of which could assist in weight management. It's also good for heart health, with one study suggesting that drinking three to five cups of coffee daily could reduce the risk of heart disease by 15 percent.
How much black coffee is safe?
Despite being a relatively healthy option, like everything else, black coffee should be enjoyed in moderation. According to Healthline, healthy adults should try to stick to 400 mg of caffeine per day or less. If the only caffeinated drink you have is coffee, that's about four cups.
Overconsumption of caffeine can lead to headaches, insomnia and a rapid heart rate, so it's crucial not to have too much.

Her post really resonated with other users, who left hundreds of comments about how they feel they are in a strange grey area of their jab journey, even if they have lost enormous amounts of weight. One wrote: 'The middle is so hard, I have lost ten stone, which is a massive achievement but because I started out at 26 stone, it doesn't look like the massive transformation I see on other people.' Another added: 'The middle is hard. I've dropped 54 lbs but I still feel and see a fat girl in the mirror. Certain body parts bother me so much more now than they did before.' There were scores of similar messages from other people who had found themselves not feeling familiar with their new, evolving, bodies. '80lbs with 40 to go, it's great but it's so odd to see my stomach now that loose skin is starting to take effect. I don't feel like my body matches me and everything I do at all ,' said one. But those boring moments are the real, steady progress that doesn't always get the spotlight, even though it's what really lasts.' The mentally draining ennui is one of many 'unofficial' side effects of weight loss jabs shared online. Recently, users have been discussing hair loss and last year there was a swathe of jabbers claiming they now always feel cold. Mounjaro, also known as tirzepatide, will be offered to around 220,000 people over the next three years under new NHS prescribing rules. Previously the potent drug, which helps patients shed up to a fifth of their body weight in a year, was available privately and at a small number of specialist NHS weight loss clinics. GPs can now prescribe the drug to patients with a BMI over 40—classed as severely obese—and at least four obesity-related health conditions, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure or sleep apnoea. Mounjaro is a GLP-1 injection, which mimics the effect of a hunger hormone that is released by the stomach in response to eating and tells the brain when it is full.

Dan Kelly has to be cautious when he's flying because of his severe nut allergy. In a video, posted to his TikTok account @_maycontain, Dan can be seen onboard an easyJet flight, asking the cabin crew whether it's okay to make an announcement to the whole plane to warn them the flight should be nut-free for his safety. In the clip, the flight attendant can be seen asking Dan whether he has an EpiPen - which he confirms he does - and where he's sitting. Dan captioned the video: 'I love it when flight attendants understand straight away. 'Surely people can go without nuts for a few hours if it could save someone's life! 'Honestly, I don't understand why some people still don't take food allergies seriously. 'If it were you or your child living with a life-threatening allergy, you'd hope others would show a bit more empathy and recognize just how serious it really is!' But, while most people were very sympathetic towards Dan, he revealed the video 'caused quite a stir' and he received some very negative comments from 'a few small-minded people who seem to have nothing better to do than try to provoke a reaction'. One of the comments was: 'I would make all people with allergies sit in a toilet the whole flight. So annoying as I love peanuts with my Gin and tonic.'
