Nneka Ogwumike climbs historic list with big night before All-Star break
The 10-time All-Star scored 22 points on 7-of-15 shooting while also tallying eight rebounds, a steal, a block, and one assist. It was a strong all-around performance that helped lift the Storm just before the league's All-Star break.
Nneka Ogwumike moves to sixth on WNBA's all-time scoring list
Ogwumike entered the night with 6,874 career points, needing 22 to pass Candice Dupree's total of 6,895. She hit that mark exactly, bringing her career total to 6,896.

At 35, Ogwumike continues to play at an elite level. Her scoring average has risen to 17.1 points per game this season, proving she remains one of the league's most consistent and dangerous offensive threats.
While reaching the top five this season may be just out of reach, she still trails Tamika Catchings by 485 points, another solid year could easily change that. If Ogwumike returns for the 2026 season and maintains her current pace, she could pass Catchings (7,381 career points), Tina Thompson (7,488), and even DeWanna Bonner (7,575), who currently sits at No. 3 but remains active.

The top two spots are safely held for now. Tina Charles (8,040 points) and Diana Taurasi (10,646) lead the all-time list, and it would take several more dominant seasons for any current player to challenge them.
Ogwumike's rise has been steady and impressive. After spending her entire career with the Los Angeles Sparks, she signed with the Seattle Storm ahead of the 2025 season, bringing veteran leadership to a younger squad. Her presence has helped Seattle stay competitive in a tight league race heading into the All Star break.
Seattle won the game 67-58 over Golden State.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Kate Martin scored 14 points, Veronica Burton had 10 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds, and the Golden State Valkyries held off the Washington Mystics 68-67 on Thursday night. Temi Fagbenle put Golden State ahead 66-65 with 5:34 remaining in the fourth quarter, but the Valkyries didn't make their next field goal until Janelle Salaun's layup with a minute left to cap the scoring. After a missed 3-pointer by the Mystics with 37 seconds left, the Valkyries worked the clock down before calling a timeout with 3 seconds left on the shot clock. Salaun missed a shot in the lane and Golden State grabbed the offensive rebound before turning it over to give the Mystics another chance. Brittney Sykes' floater in the lane bounced off the rim as time expired. Sonia Citron, coming off a career-high 28 points on Tuesday against Chicago, scored 16 points for Washington (13-14). Shakira Austin and Kiki Iriafen each added 10 points. Iliana Rupert scored all 11 of her points in the first half and Fagbenle finished with 10 for Golden State (13-13). Tiffany Hayes became the 42nd player in WNBA history to play 10,000 minutes. Golden State made 10 of 14 field goals in the first quarter, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range, to take a 30-20 lead. The Valkyries scored 38 points the rest of the way. Washington went on a 14-2 run spanning halftime to get within 46-41 on Sykes' 3-pointer from the top of the key. Anas Azizoun at 2025 PFL Europe 2 Gustavo Oliveira put his name on the map with PFL courtesy of a knockout for the ages. Oliveira (11-2) created a highlight moment that will forever be replayed throughout his career. Oliveira smashed Anas Azizoun with a spinning back elbow out of nowhere at 3:25 of Round 1 of the bantamweight bout. Azizoun (5-2) went out immediately and crashed to the canvas. Nominee: Islam Dulatov def. Adam Fugitt at UFC 318 German fighter-turned-YouTube star Islam Dulatov finally made his promotional debut and did not disappoint against Adam Fugitt. Dulatov (12-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) connected with a check left hook that floored Fugitt (10-5 MMA, 2-3 UFC) before he finished him off with follow-up punches. The stoppage came at the 4:06 mark of Round 1 of their welterweight bout. Nominee: Bogdan Guskov def. Nikita Krylov at UFC on ABC 9 Bogdan Guskov continued his rise in the light heavyweight division when be blasted through divisional mainstay Nikita Krylov inside the opening round. The opening minutes were measured as both men relied on their technique as their guide. However, a slow leg kick from Krylov (30-11 MMA, 11-9 UFC) was his undoing. Guskov (18-3 MMA, 4-1 UFC) countered beautifully with a massive punch that sat Krylov down. Follow-up punches bounced Krylov's head off the canvas. Nominee: Loai Abushaar def. Edmund Kwan at LFA 213 Loai Abushaar landed as clean a knee knockout as you'll ever see against Edmund Kwan in their lightweight bout. Less than a minute into the opening round, Abushaar (5-1) timed the absolute perfect stepping right knee that landed clean to the chin of Kwan (4-1), instantly putting him out cold with a hard fall to the canvas. The winner: Muslim Salikhov def. Carlos Leal at UFC on ABC 9 "41 years young!" Muslim Salikhov came up big as an underdog against Carlos Leal in their welterweight showdown. Salikhov (22-5 MMA, 9-4 UFC) landed a brutal overhand right to take out Leal (22-7 MMA, 1-2 UFC) at the 0:42 mark of Round 1. Salikhov, who was a 5-1 underdog, has now won three fights in a row. Meet KeAndre Lambert-Smith, the Chargers Hall of Fame Game breakout with an NFL uncle
Los Angeles Chargers rookie wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith introduced himself to the NFL world on Thursday night in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. Lambert-Smith scored a really nice touchdown during the preseason game for Los Angeles to go along with a beautiful catch from a quarterback Trey Lance pass in the first half. If you're unfamiliar with who Lambert-Smith is, he was a fifth-round pick by Los Angeles in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Auburn. He played at Penn State from 2020-2023 before transferring to Auburn for his last college season. His uncle actually played in the NFL, and you've absolutely heard of him. Lambert-Smith is former Settle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor's nephew. Talk about a football factoid to make you feel old! According to The Athletic's Robert Mays, the Chargers are quite high on the rookie receiver. Chargers fans will want to keep an eye out for Lambert-Smith throughout the rest of the preseason.
