WNBA Legend Had Four Words After Unfortunate Chicago Sky News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Chicago Sky fell to 2-5 during the 2025 WNBA season after Saturday night's 79 to 52 loss against the Indiana Fever. The Sky's 52 points were their lowest in a single game since the 2011 season. Advertisement After spending the first 12 seasons of her career in Chicago, five-time WNBA All-Star guard Courtney Vandersloot returned to the Sky this offseason after a two-year stint with the New York Liberty. She was averaging 12.0 points and 6.2 assists per contest through the team's first six games. Unfortunately, Vandersloot went down with an injury just under five minutes into the contest against the Fever. On Sunday, the Sky confirmed that she tore her right ACL and will miss the remainder of the 2025 WNBA season. Chicago Sky guard Courtney Vandersloot (22).Patrick Gorski-Imagn Images 2020 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Tamika Catchings played 15 WNBA seasons for the Indiana Fever. She and Vandersloot overlapped for six seasons and developed a rivalry playing in the Eastern Conference. Advertisement On Sunday, Catchings responded to the news that Vandersloot had torn her ACL and would miss the rest of the season. She had just four words for her former 2011 WNBA All-Star teammate. "Dang… praying for you @Sloot22!!! 🙏🏽🥰," Catchings wrote. Vandersloot is a two-time WNBA champion and has been an All-WNBA honoree on five occasions in her career. She has led the league in assists seven times and is currently second on the league's all-time leaderboard for assists. She also broke the Chicago Sky's all-time scoring record on May 29 against the Dallas Wings. The Sky will have to refocus as they'll face off against the defending WNBA champion New York Liberty on Tuesday. The Liberty will carry an 8-0 record into the game and the Sky will look to avenge their 99 to 74 loss that they suffered against New York earlier in the season. Help pick the new Tamika Catchings mural

In case there was any doubt about Indy's love for the game, the city is honoring another local hoops legend with public art. Why it matters: The Indy Arts Council wants your help choosing the final design for a mural of Tamika Catchings that will be painted along Mass Ave this summer. Driving the news: The council and WNBA All-Star 2025 Host Committee, with funding from the Marion County Capital Improvement Board, are collaborating to create the new mural ahead of the All-Star game coming to town July 18 and 19. Catchings is co-chair of the host committee for the event. How it works: The council is asking for public input on four design concepts, from which the council will ultimately choose a winner. An international call for artists last year resulted in the designs from finalists Aziza Andre (Atlanta), Nate Baranowski (South Bend), Lula Goce (Galicia, Spain) and Desiree Kelly (Detroit). An online survey is available through April 13. Catch up quick: Catchings played all 16 seasons of her professional career for the Fever.
