Kelsey Mitchell breaks one of Tamika Catchings' Fever records — not an easy thing to do
With her second 3-pointer against the New York Liberty night, Mitchell became the franchise leader in 3-pointers made with 607, passing Fever legend Tamika Catchings' 606.
It's Mitchell's first outright franchise record so far.

A shooting guard with a career 37.8% 3-point field goal percentage, Mitchell only needed eight seasons to pass Catchings' record, set in 2016 after 14 seasons. Mitchell was drafted to the Fever at No. 2 overall in 2018 and has spent her entire professional career with Indiana.
She is quickly becoming one of the top tenured players in franchise history — she recently passed Briann January, now a Fever assistant coach, for second in games played. Mitchell, with 254 games in a Fever uniform, only trails Catchings' 457 games.

Dan Quinn says he's glad Terry McLaurin remains a presence at Commanders camp amid contract dispute
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Commanders coach Dan Quinn said Saturday that wide receiver Terry McLaurin told him directly about his request to be traded amid a contract dispute but the coach has not addressed the matter with the other players as the team continues to prepare for the season. 'The players today, they're more aware of contracts and things than they used to be,' Quinn said before practice. 'And they recognize that business part happens as well. So, for the team, we're just rocking and going and throwing some great practices. For Terry and the trade requests, man, that's part of normal business that's happening around the NFL.' The 2024 All-Pro has been holding in at training camp. He reported to camp Sunday after skipping the first four practices and parts of the offseason program. He remains on the physically unable to perform list with an ankle injury while contract talks continue. He remain a presence at camp though he hasn't been on the field. 'I'm really glad he's here,' Quinn said. 'I love coaching him, but the business side, that's kind of where it's at. Somebody asked me, is it a distraction? It is not.' McLaurin, entering the final year of a three-year extension signed in 2022, is seeking a new deal that would make him among the league's highest-paid receivers. He had 82 catches for 1,096 yards and a career-high 13 touchdowns last season, helping Washington reach the NFC Championship game. 'We love Terry. I'm really glad he is here and hopefully he is out practicing soon,' Quinn said. 'And we also understand there's the business side of these things that (general manager) Adam (Peters) and his side and Terry and his reps are working through.' Meanwhile, McLaurin is working with the training staff to strengthen his ankle, Quinn said. McLaurin watches afternoon walkthroughs and hears the play calls while Quinn keeps everyone's focus on the work. 'It's a really cool place to come work and play football,' Quinn said. 'And we work hard at that, too, the environment. And so, (Terry is) definitely part of that … Even though he's not participating, there's still plenty to do.' Without McLaurin, wide receiver Deebo Samuel and tight end Zach Ertz are the top passing options for quarterback Jayden Daniels, the Offensive Rookie of the Year last season. 'I know that time will come,' Daniels said this week on McLaurin eventually rejoining the offense. 'Till then, if that's us getting in the film room and just talking ... we always talk. We talk ball. Luka Dončić agrees to 3-year, $165M max extension with Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers view Luka Dončić as the future of the franchise. The team inked the 26-year-old to a three-year, $165 million max extension Saturday. Per ESPN's Shams Charania, Dončić's deal features a player option in 2028, and he is now eligible for a projected five years and $417 million in 2028. Since he debuted with the Dallas Mavericks during the 2018-19 NBA season, Dončić has performed like one of the best players in the NBA. He won the Rookie of the Year Award that season, is a five-time All-Star and has five MVP finishes in the top eight. It was always expected the Lakers would sign Dončić to a long-term deal after the team traded Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a first-round pick to Dallas in February in exchange for Dončić. You don't acquire a player of Dončić's caliber and allow him to walk after just a year and a half. Prior to the extension, Dončić was set to enter what could have been the final year of his contract. He held a $48 million player option for the 2026-27 NBA season that he almost certainly would have declined in favor of receiving a massive deal on the free-agent market. The Lakers were never going to let Dončić get to that point, which is why a max extension was always assumed. The bigger question surrounding Dončić's next contract was its length. With Dončić signed, the Lakers now have their future secured. Dončić melded with the team well after being acquired in February. In 28 games in Los Angeles, Dončić averaged 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.5 assists, essentially the same numbers he averaged with the Mavericks. Following the Lakers' postseason elimination, head coach JJ Redick challenged the team to get in "championship shape," which many perceived as a challenge aimed at Dončić, whose conditioning has been questioned during his career. By all accounts, Dončić heard that message. He's reportedly dropped "significant weight" ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season. With LeBron James back, and Dončić possibly in the best shape of his career, the Lakers will enter the year with championship aspirations. While James' future with the franchise remains a question — he's 40 and only under contract for one more season — Dončić is talented enough to make the team a perennial contender after James leaves or retires. That was always the plan when the team pulled off its shocking trade for Dončić in February. Following Saturday's extension, it's now the team's reality.

Dodgers activate starting pitcher Blake Snell after 4 months on IL for Saturday's matchup vs. Rays
Pitcher Blake Snell is officially being activated by the Los Angeles Dodgers for Saturday's matchup with the Tampa Bay Rays, the team announced. Snell, 32, hasn't pitched since April 2, after which he went on the injured list with left shoulder inflammation. He made two starts to begin the season, allowing two earned runs and 10 hits in nine total innings. However, the left-hander only registered four strikeouts with eight walks, likely indicating that something wasn't right. The Dodgers were curiously quiet at the MLB trade deadline, adding reliever Brock Stewart and outfielder Alex Call. But that may have been because the team anticipated getting pitchers like Snell back. If he's as effective as he's been during his previous nine seasons, Snell could be a more impactful addition than any trade acquisition. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts announced on Wednesday that Snell was scheduled to start on Saturday. He threw a bullpen session on Thursday to get into his routine for a regular starting rotation. Snell will face one of his former teams in the Rays, with whom he pitched the first five seasons of his career. Snell started 108 games for Tampa Bay, compiling a 3.24 ERA and 42-30 record while averaging 10.5 strikeouts per nine innings. He was traded to the San Diego Padres before the 2021 season and pitched for the Dodgers' NL West rivals for three seasons, collecting a 3.15 ERA, averaging 11.9 Ks per nine innings and winning the National League Cy Young Award in 2023. After becoming a free agent following the 2023 season, Snell was one of the "Boras Four," five clients for infamous super-agent Scott Boras who had difficulty getting a lucrative long-term contract on the open market. Ultimately, Snell settled for a two-year, $62 million contract with the San Francisco Giants. But he opted out of the deal after the first year, trying free agency again after notching 145 strikeouts in 104 innings. Snell signed a five-year, $182 million deal with the Dodgers last November, joining what appeared to be a powerhouse rotation for one of the best teams in baseball. Injuries have prevented that rotation — which inclues Tyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Roki Sasaki, Clayton Kershaw, Tony Gonsolin and Shohei Ohtani — from following through on that promise. But with nearly all of those pitchers now recovering, the Dodgers could have a formidable rotation by the end of the season and into the postseason if they remain healthy.
