Fatima backs Pakistan to stay unbeaten after Thailand win
Pakistan's dominant 87-run victory over Thailand secured their qualification for the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, set to be held later this year in India.
The team has remained unbeaten throughout the qualifiers, and with just one match left, skipper Fatima Sana is hopeful of finishing the tournament unbeaten.
"We have qualified, and the main credit goes to our team — they supported me a lot and gave me the opportunity to captain this side," said Fatima Sana after the match.
"Hopefully, we will try to win the final match as well and aim to remain unbeaten throughout the qualifiers, finishing at the top of the table."

All-round contributions led Pakistan to fourth-straight win.
Pakistan had a slow start to their innings while batting first, but a resilient knock from Sidra Amin and solid lower-order hitting by Fatima Sana helped them post a total of 205/6.
"Before the 40 overs, we were under a lot of pressure because the Thailand team bowled really well against our batting lineup," said Fatima Sana.
"But after the 40th over, we started to see opportunities. I got a few chances to contribute with the bat, and Sidra Ameen played really well during that phase."

"The main thing is that she stayed at the crease and kept the innings going.
"I know people might have thought the run rate was a bit slow, but she played sensibly when we were just trying to survive. The way she stayed on the ground and held the innings together was really important for us."
The skipper then went onto lead from the front with the ball, joining forces with Nashra Sandhu and Rameen Shamim. The trio picked up three wickets each, sealing a convincing victory and securing qualification for the Qualifier hosts.
With this win, Pakistan have secured victory in all four of their matches in the tournament.
Pakistan will now face Bangladesh in their final match of the tournament on April 19 at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground, where the Nigar Sultana Joty-led side will be aiming to secure their own qualification to the marquee event in India later this year. The first match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 is set to be held at Edgbaston, Birmingham on 12 June with the hosts England kicking off the tournament. Five venues including one in Sri Lanka announced for ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 being hosted by India from 30 September to 2 November Dates and venues of opening matches and knockouts of both the Women's World Cup and the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 to be hosted by England confirmed The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made key announcements regarding the venues and dates for its two upcoming global women's events, which will be hosted by India and England within a span of some nine months this year and next. The dates and venues for the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 have been confirmed, along with the schedule for the opening matches and knockout rounds of both the Women's Cricket World Cup and the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026. ICC Chairman Mr. Jay Shah said: "We are excited to make some important announcements regarding two global women's tournaments to be hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the England and Wales Cricket Board in the coming months. The ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, featuring eight teams in a round-robin format with 28 league matches, will be played from 30 September to 2 November at five venues: M. Chinnaswamy Stadium (Bengaluru), ACA Stadium (Guwahati), Holkar Stadium (Indore), ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam) and R. Premadasa Stadium (Colombo, Sri Lanka). The tournament kicks off with India playing in Bengaluru as the Women's Cricket World Cup returns to the country after 12 years. The last ICC global women's event hosted by India was the ICC Women's T20 World in 2016 when it was held along with the men's event. The venues for the knockouts are dependent on Pakistan qualifying as two alternative venues have been identified for one semifinal and the final. The final will be held either in Bengaluru or Colombo on 2 November, the first semifinal in either Guwahati or Colombo on 29 October and the second semifinal in Bengaluru on 30 October. Colombo will be the venue for the first semifinal and the final only if Pakistan qualify for those stages. Meanwhile, Edgbaston in Birmingham has been announced as the host for the opening match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 with England women kicking off the tournament on 12 June. Tickets for the opening game will start at £15 for adults and £5 for juniors Beyond Birmingham, the tournament will continue its nationwide journey, before heading to London where The Oval is set to host both semi-final clashes, while the final will take place at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground on 5 July 2026. Both semi-finals will light up London at The Oval on 30 June and 2 July 2026, with tickets from £20 for adults and £10 for juniors, while final tickets start at £30 and £15. Over the course of 24 days, a total of 33 matches will be played across seven top-tier venues, including Old Trafford Cricket Ground (Manchester), Headingley (Leeds), The Hampshire Bowl (Southampton), and Bristol County Ground. The expanded competition will see 12 teams descend on England and Wales to compete for the prestigious trophy that is currently held by New Zealand.
