Bengaluru Traffic Inspires Newton's Fourth Law: ‘Auto At Rest Will Remain...'
Stuck in traffic near Brookfield, an X user posted a screenshot of his Google Maps, which estimated 48 minutes to travel just 3.6 kilometres.
Bengaluru, often referred to as the IT capital of India, continues to draw professionals from every corner of the country with its countless job opportunities. But for all its growth and tech boom, the city has long been infamous for one thing – its unbearable traffic. Getting from one part of Bengaluru to another can often feel like a never-ending mission. And once again, the city has made headlines for its traffic troubles.
Recently, a man named Lalit Gour shared his real-time struggle on X (formerly Twitter), and his post has been getting a lot of attention. Stuck in traffic near Brookfield, Lalit posted a screenshot of his Google Maps, which estimated 48 minutes to travel just 3.6 kilometres.
'Newton's fourth law of motion: A Bangalore auto at rest will remain at rest," he wrote along with the screenshot.

The post struck a chord with many people who couldn't help but laugh at the shared struggle.
One user said, 'No words when it comes to Bengaluru traffic," while another added, 'Walk is the only solution."
Someone shared, 'Damn. 48 mins for 3.6km. I just drove to the office, 19 km in 50 mins."
A person asked, 'Why??? Don't auto drivers want to earn money or they happy with freebies given by the government?"
Even people outside Bengaluru could relate like an individual from Gurugram who said, 'Even here in Gurgaon, 16-lane roads get jammed."
'Crazy bro. When an interviewer asks, 'Where do you see yourself in 5 years?' I just think… still stuck in Bangalore traffic…," he wrote.

To tackle Bengaluru's ever-growing traffic problem, the government is working on several big infrastructure projects. Back in March, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar shared details about some of these upcoming developments aimed at improving the city's roads and traffic flow.
'We are planning double-decker flyovers wherever new metro lines are being developed. The BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) and BMRCL (Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited) will share the cost equally. It costs Rs 120 crore to construct one kilometre of a double-decker flyover, and we have allocated Rs 9,000 crore for the project," he said, in a release issued by his office.
Apart from flyovers, he said the city will also see 300 km of 50-feet-wide buffer roads built along stormwater drains. These are expected to ease congestion in areas that often get choked with traffic. For this, an additional Rs 3,000 crore has been set aside.

Bihar govt to spend Rs 35.64 crore on interstate bus services for migrant workers
Patna: Migrant workers from Bihar living in other states will soon find it easier to return home during major festivals like Chhath, Diwali, Holi and Durga Puja, with the state government announcing a Rs 35.64 crore initiative to provide smoother transport facilities. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, in his Independence Day address, said the move aims to reduce the annual rush and ticket shortages faced by people travelling back to Bihar during the festive season. Under the plan, the government will launch interstate bus transport services on a Public–Private Partnership (PPP) model, ensuring more buses, regulated fares, and improved connectivity between Bihar and major states such as Delhi, Gurugram, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Rajasthan. 'This will significantly reduce problems of high fares and non-availability of bus tickets,' Kumar said, adding that the scheme is expected to be operational before the festive season. Every year, thousands of Biharis working outside the state face long waits and inflated fares to return home for celebrations. The new interstate service aims to ease that journey and make festive homecomings stress-free. To encourage operators, the government will provide grants of Rs 150 per seat during peak season and Rs 300 per seat in the off-season. This is expected to increase the number and improve the connectivity of buses running between Bihar and major states such as Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. The total estimated expenditure over five years is Rs 35.64 crore, with an additional 2 per cent contingency fund of Rs 71.28 lakh, bringing the overall cost to Rs 36.35 crore. For 2025-26, Rs 7.27 crore will be drawn from the Bihar Contingency Fund. Passenger groups have welcomed the initiative, saying it will help end the long-standing issues of ticket shortages and inflated fares during the festive rush. The government believes the scheme will ensure stability in fares and significantly reduce travel hassles for those returning home for celebrations.

Meghalaya targets $16bn economy by 2032; $100bn by 2047: CM Conrad Sangma
Shillong: Meghalaya is on course to become a $16-billion economy by 2032, with an ambitious target of $100 billion by 2047, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma announced during Independence Day celebrations in Shillong. By 2047 — marking India's 100th year of independence and Meghalaya's 75th year of statehood — the government aims to place the state among the country's top 10 in both per capita income and Sustainable Development Goals. 'We aspire for a developed Meghalaya, one that stands among India's most prosperous states,' Sangma told the gathering. The Chief Minister outlined major strides in infrastructure, connectivity, health, tourism, agriculture, and governance reforms. Since 2018, the state has sanctioned 3,500 km of roads and 126 bridges, increasing road density from 43 km to 63 km per 1,000 sq km. A Rs 22,864-crore high-speed corridor linking Mawlyngkhung in Ri Bhoi to Silchar in Assam — 86 per cent of it in Meghalaya — has been cleared. Plans include expanding Shillong Airport, operationalising Baljek Airport in Tura, and launching a new regional transport scheme. In rural development, over 5.39 lakh households now have tap water connections, compared to fewer than 4,500 in 2019, covering 82.84 per cent of village homes. Housing coverage under PMAY(G) has reached 99.71 per cent of sanctioned units, while MGNREGS generated 321 lakh person-days in 2024-25. Tourism projects worth Rs 200 crore — such as Umiam Lake redevelopment and a ropeway to Shillong Peak — are underway. The state recorded over 16 lakh tourist arrivals in 2024 and raised homestay subsidies to 80 per cent. Preparations for the 39th National Games in 2027 include a Rs 732-crore, 40,000-seat stadium in Mawkhanu. Healthcare indicators have improved sharply, with maternal deaths down 51 per cent and infant deaths down 37 per cent over five years. The Shillong Medical College is set to open soon, alongside expanded dialysis centres, upgraded labs, and improved health facilities. Agriculture exports are growing, with black pepper sent to Mumbai and premium pineapples to Dubai. Entrepreneurship schemes such as PRIME and CM-ELEVATE have supported over 8,300 ventures, while Ryndia fabric has secured Geographical Indication status. On the environmental front, the Green Meghalaya PES scheme now covers 51,000 hectares, complemented by Rs 344-crore catchment protection projects. Urban renewal plans include upgrades to Ward's Lake, Iewduh Market, and Polo Grounds. The Shillong Technology Park (Phase II) and Tura Tech Park are projected to create 24,000 jobs in the IT and services sector. Calling for collective effort, Sangma said: 'Together we can place Meghalaya among India's top 10 states by 2032.'
