Deputy Agriculture and Food Security Minister heads list of Pahang award recipients
The awards were presented by the Sultan at an investiture ceremony held at Balai Mahkota, Istana Abdulaziz, here today.
Also in attendance were the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, and the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah.
Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and members of the state leadership were also present.
Arthur was among the recipients of the Sri Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (SSAP) award, which carries the title Datuk Seri, along with Pahang state secretary Datuk Nazri Abu Bakar, Bank Negara governor Datuk Seri Shaik Abdul Rasheed Abdul Ghaffour, and Army chief General Tan Sri Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan.
Also conferred the SSAP were Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) board member Datuk Seri Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin; MATRADE chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz; director of the National Budget Office, Ministry of Finance, Datuk Ab Rahim Ab Rahman; and deputy secretary-general (Finance) of the Ministry of Health (MOH) Datuk Zahrul Hakim Abdullah @ Ab Allah.
Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director-general Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad; Bukit Aman Management Department director Datuk Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid; Malayan Banking Berhad group president and CEO Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli, and head of the Cardiology Department at the National Heart Institute (IJN) Datuk Dr Azmee Mohd Ghazi were also among the SSAP award recipients.
Other SSAP recipients were B.Grimm And Co. chairman Datuk Dr. H.C Harald Link; Prima Merdu Sdn Bhd chairman and executive director Datuk Amer Hamzah Ahmad; Tong Chun Development Sdn Bhd managing director Datuk Ken Ng Chee Kean; and Magma Group Berhad Group managing director Datuk Liang Chee Fong.
The Darjah Sri Indera Mahkota Pahang (SIMP), which carries the title Datuk Indera, was conferred on three individuals, namely Pahang Finance officer Datuk Fadzilla Salleh, former chairman of the Royal Malaysian Police Family Association (PERKEP) Puan Sri Zainah Othman, and director-general of the Department of National Unity and Integration Datuk Che Roslan Che Daud.
Pahang mufti Profesor Datuk Dr Asmadi Mohamed Naim was the sole recipient of the Darjah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ahmad Shah (DSAS), which carries the title Datuk.
Eight individuals received the Darjah Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (DSAP), which also carries the title Datuk. They included Pahang Legal advisor Muhammad Saifuddin Hashim Musaimi; Pahang Land and Mines director Datuk Razihan Adzharuddin; Deputy State secretary (Development) Datuk Ali Syahbana Sabaruddin; and Commander of Air Region 2, Air Region 2 Headquarters, Labuan, Major General Datuk Norli Hisham Alwi.
Also receiving the DSAP award were Comptroller of the Royal Household of the Sultan of Pahang Major General Dato' Mohamed Zahari Yahya; fashion designer and founder of Radzuan Radziwill Boutique Datuk Radzuan Radzi; Jaxer Sdn Bhd founder and executive director Mohd Faizal Abdullah; and Sendayu Tinggi Holdings Sdn Bhd director-general Mohamad Zaidi Aziz.
The Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (DIMP), which carries the title Datuk, was awarded to 26 individuals, including Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Intelligence Division senior director Datuk Saiful Ezral Arifin and Universiti Islam Selangor (UIS) vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Mohd Farid Ravi Abdullah.
Other recipients included Malaysian Ambassador to Lebanon Azri Mat Yacob, Pahang JBPM director Mohd Razam Taja Rahim, MOH Human Resources Division secretary Noor Azman Abdul Rahman, and Sabah Public Works Department deputy director of Works Mohd Shamsul Nizam Abdul Wahid.
Also conferred the DIMP were Defence Attaché at the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta Brigadier General Azrin Iskandar Zulkaply; director-general of the Defence Operations Branch, Defence Operations and Training Division, Brigadier General Mohd Rafi Muhammad; commander of the Air Defence Artillery Group Brigadier General Azhar Mustapha; and chief of staff of the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) Air Operations Division Brigadier General Ivan John Row.
At the ceremony, Al-Sultan Abdullah also conferred the Ahli Mahkota Pahang (AMP) award on four individuals, including DSP Nik Mohammed Syukry Nik Husain, who serves as police escort to the 6th Prime Minister, and Pahang UMNO Youth vice-chief Wan Azam Wan Rosdy.
Earlier, the ceremony began with a 21-gun salute following the playing of the state anthem, Allah Selamatkan Sultan Kami. - Bernama

Trade value from MD2 pineapples and suckers has hit RM4.9 million in three years, with projections of RM18.5 million in five years. Aqina Fruits, the project operator, has engaged 40 descendants of settlers as staff, integrating modern farming techniques like IoT-based automation and drone technology. Malaysia launches slow food movement in Sabah ahead of MyFood 2026

KOTA KINABALU (Aug 1): The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has officially pre-launched the MyFood 2026 programme in collaboration with Opulence Exhibition Services, setting the stage for a national push toward healthier, locally sourced eating habits through the global 'slow food' movement. Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup, officiated the ceremony today at HPPNK (Hari Peladang, Penternak dan Nelayan Kebangsaan) in Sabah International Convention Centre, a strategic lead-up to the main MyFood 2026 exhibition scheduled for 7-9 May 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). 'Although MyFood will be held next year in KLCC, Opulence made the decision to partner with the Ministry as a strategic ally and chose HPPNK as the venue for this pre-launch. We fully support MyFood's agenda, which is centred around the slow food concept,' said Arthur during the event. The slow food philosophy, a counterpoint to fast food, advocates for nutritious, unprocessed and locally sourced meals. According to the him, this is a concept deeply rooted in traditional village lifestyles, but one that has diminished with the pressures of modern urbanisation and industrialisation. 'In the past, our grandparents practised these principles naturally, eating what they grew. But as society moved toward urban lifestyles, we've often traded in health for convenience. 'The slow food movement is about reclaiming that balance,' he explained. When asked about the role of young people in rural areas, Arthur noted that these communities are well-positioned to spearhead a grassroots revival of slow food practices. He pointed out two main advantages: lifestyle and access to natural resources. 'In rural areas, people still plant rice and vegetables around their homes. This lifestyle allows for the slow food movement to flourish more naturally than in urban settings, where space constraints often hinder such practices,' he said. However, he acknowledged the need for innovation in cities, including hydroponics and vertical farming, to bring fresh, healthy food to urban residents. Arthur also highlighted new government funding to bolster the country's food ecosystem. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently announced an allocation of RM29 million to the Ministry, aimed at reinforcing the agricultural value chain, from cultivation and processing to marketing and export. 'If we can strengthen this value chain, we can deliver fresher, higher-quality food to more remote areas, benefiting communities nationwide,' he said. The Ministry and Opulence Exhibition Services are now gearing up for the MyFood 2026 event in KLCC, expected to be a major milestone in promoting sustainable, healthy and locally driven food systems in Malaysia.

RM200 million agrofood financing fund launched to boost Malaysia's food security
KOTA KINABALU: The Agrofood Financing Fund (DPA) 2025, worth RM200 million, was officially launched today with Agrobank as the implementing agency. The initiative aims to bolster Malaysia's agrofood sector by providing financial support to entrepreneurs across the agricultural value chain. Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup said the fund is designed to enhance national food security while ensuring long-term sustainability for the agrofood industry. 'This programme supports entrepreneurs involved in agricultural and agrofood production, covering activities from upstream to downstream, including support services,' he said. The fund offers financing for both fixed capital, such as asset acquisition and development costs, and working capital to meet operational needs. Arthur added that Agrobank will evaluate applications based on pre-set conditions before approving eligible recipients. Financing ranges from RM50,000 to RM5 million with a profit rate of three per cent per annum. Arthur also announced a strategic collaboration between Agrobank and TM One to enhance digital banking services, improving accessibility for rural communities and farmers. - Bernama
