BJP MLA demands renaming of Faridpur to ‘Pitambarpur'

, demanding that the town and its Nagar Palika Parishad be renamed Pitambarpur,citing historical and religious significance.
In the letter sent on Sunday, Lal claimed that the name Faridpur was given during the Mughal era, while the local railway station continues to be known as Pitambarpur, indicating its older roots. "There are several ancient temples in the region, including the Panchreshwar Nath Temple and the Pahlau Nath Temple, as evidence of the area's heritage," he said.
"People here have always referred to the town as Pitambarpur, feel more connected to that name, and want it restored in keeping with the region's cultural and religious identity," he added.
Lal said the area was originally known as Poora before it was renamed Faridpur by Sheikh Farid--also known as Baba Farid or Fariduddin Ganjshakar--a prominent 12th-century Sufi.

Bandi challenges Congress for debate on BC quota
Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay on Wednesday criticised Congress BC leaders for holding a rally in Delhi, stating that it was the BJP that made a BC leader the Prime Minister. Challenging the Congress leaders for a debate on BC reservations, he pointed out that no BC leader was ever appointed chief minister by the Congress govts. In a statement, he alleged, "There is a conspiracy to increase BC reservations by 5% and provide an additional 10% for Muslims. Did Congress ever make a BC leader the Prime Minister during its 50-year rule? Did it ever appoint a BC chief minister during its 48-year rule in united Andhra Pradesh? Shall we discuss how many BCs were given positions in the state cabinet and nominated posts?" he said. He further claimed that the Congress protest lacks support from BCs. "We will only support only if 42% reservations are implemented for BCs. We are ready for an open debate on what each party has done for BCs. "Our stance is clear: religious reservations are against the Constitution. We have consistently opposed Muslim reservations. We will only support if 42% reservations are fully implemented for BCs. Otherwise, we will definitely block this bill. If such a poisonous tree is not stopped in Telangana, it risks spreading across the country," he said.
