Mohamad Orfali's Three Bros is finally open in Dubai

Time Out Dubai6 hours ago
The Orfali brothers have a new project on the pass.
The award-winning trio have launched Three Bros – a 22-seater restaurant right next door to the OG Orfali Bros. in Jumeirah's Wasl 51.
They've successfully spun fine dining with the fun and flirty in the kitchen. Mohamad's running the show and working the room, while Wassim and Omar are on pastry duty, and together they've ditched the stiff white tablecloths for 70's décor, a storytelling menu and a lab-like approach to soft drink pairings.
This is a restaurant that refuses to be governed by a single culture. Instead, Three Bros becomes a hotbed of life, a rare anomaly otherwise known as 'Dubai cuisine'. The menu is in full technicolour – a glorious mash-up that refuses to pick sides.
Loud fusions and flavours from around the world draw on the simplicity of the Mediterranean, the precision of French gastronomy and the deep traditions of Syria.
Here, you'll snack on comté and celeriac croquettes while keeping an eye on the chefs making your 'pidza' (a pizza-pide hybrid). There's also morel chawanmushi, adobo chicken wings, gem and roquefort salad and TNT patatas. Pair these alongside fermented white grape juice and olive oil drinks in delicate glasses.
Definitely don't miss out on incredible desserts, such as the peanut and raspberry jam sando cake.

Despite this proximity to Orfali Bros., Three Bros throws out the delicacy of its flagship, letting us enjoy the glamour of excellent cuisine not from Dubai's latest shiniest new rooftop, but from a familiar, charming and giddy little spot in the heart of Jumeriah.
Three Bros is where you go for food that's serious without taking itself too seriously – proof that the Orfali brothers know exactly how to keep Dubai talking (and eating).
Open daily noon-6pm and 7pm-11.30pm. Wasl 51, Jumeirah, threebros.ae (04 238 6677).

Sandi Toksvig goes adventuring to get over 'boredom' of The Great British Bake Off

Sandi Toksvig goes adventuring to get over 'boredom' of The Great British Bake Off When Sandi Toksvig quit The Great British Bake Off after three years she admitted she'd found it 'boring' and that it made her "unhappy" - despite it being the best paid job she's ever had. ‌ Now the big-brained host of BBC2's QI is making two new travel series for Channel 4, and both have adventure firmly at their heart. ‌ The comedian and broadcaster will front Sandi Toksvig's Great Riveria Rail Trip, which sees her exploring the part of the French coast much-loved by A-list stars including Elton John and Brad Pitt. ‌ The four-part series, to air later this year, takes viewers on one of the world 's most glamorous train journeys – from the bustling port of Marseille to the lemon-scented serenity of Menton on the French-Italian border. Along the way Sandi visits the region's most iconic destinations including Monaco, Cannes, Nice, and Saint-Tropez, also taking in super yachts and casinos and uncovering stories of the kings, queens, artists and celebrities who transformed the Côte d'Azur into one of the world's dream holiday destinations. Full of Sandi's 'signature wit', the show has been made by Cornelia Street Productions, the team behind Julia Bradbury's Irish Journey and John Torode's Ireland. And a second new commission, Sandi's Hidden Wonders, from Salamanda Media, is set to follow on from her previous travel series Extraordinary Escapes and sees her exploring some of the world's best kept secrets. ‌ One insider said: 'Sandi may not have felt she was intellectually challenged enough on Bake Off, but her new shows are full of adventure so there's no room, or time, for boredom. Far from it! This is Sandi at her warm and witty best.' Having filmed both the new series, it is clear Sandi has made a full recovery from bronchial pneumonia, which she caught while touring in Australia two years ago and was so severe she 'thought she was dying'. When she quit Bake Off in 2020, Sandi confessed that she hadn't enjoyed working on the series, despite appearing to have fun with co-host Noel Fielding. ‌ Branding her time on the show as the "three longest years of my life' and saying she could feel her brain 'atrophying', the 67-year-old explained last year: 'I make no bones about the fact I did not enjoy it. I walked away from the biggest pay cheque of my life, but that's fine. 'I mean, no disrespect to people, but watching meringue dry and being told how many different kinds there are, I honestly thought I was going out of my mind.' ‌ And she added: 'I'd never watched it. I still haven't watched it. I didn't understand it. Cakes are readily available in the shops.' At the time of her departure, in 2020, Sandi said: 'When stepping down from a job, it is quite common for people to say they are doing so in order to spend more time with their family. Unusually, I am departing from T he Great British Bake Off so I can spend more time with my other work.' She has since revealed that the only person from Bake Off that she remains in touch with is Prue Leith, with whom she is 'joined at the hip'. Alison Hammond.

Peter Andre is labelled a 'hero' after clambering through a window to rescue son Theo, 8, from a locked toilet during family break in Cyprus

Peter Andre proved he's no flush-in-the pan on Wednesday after rescuing son Theo from a locked toilet. The Mysterious Girl singer is currently enjoying a summer break in Cyprus with his family, but he was forced to step in after Theo, eight, was caught short during a trip to a local animal sanctuary. The youngster found himself locked inside a set of public toilets at Camel Park, prompting Peter, 52, to take action by climbing through an open window at the rear of the outhouse. Holidaymakers cheered the pop star on as he clambered through to retrieve his son, before helping lower the child to the ground. But despite having no trouble forcing his way into the locked toilet, Peter - dressed in beach shorts and a pair of flip flops - needed help of his own after struggling to climb back through the narrow window after rescuing Theo. 'Saved the day, and I'm still embarrassed,' the red-faced singer later admitted. In a separate video, shared with Instagram followers, Theo - Peter's son with second wife Emily MacDonagh - was seen complaining about the heat inside the unventilated toilet as his father peered through the window. The incident took place as Peter and his children paid a visit to Mazotos and the largest camel park in Europe, described on its Instagram platform as the 'place to visit for a different day out.' The Australian singer is also taking a rather different approach to music after ditching his mainstream brand of pop in favour of reggae, a decision that could potentially risk further controversy after his recent foray into acting. Earlier this year, Peter faced inevitable backlash for his starring role in Jafaican, a new film in which he plays a fraudster charged with mastering Jamaican culture in order to commit a major fraud on the Caribbean island. The problematic premise demanded his character wear fake dreadlocks and adopt a somewhat shaky Jamaican accent while attempting to pass himself off as black, a hard sell for outraged viewers. Peter has since brushed aside the controversy by returning to music, and his latest reggae infused offering appears to be inspired by his experiences on set. Sharing a teaser with Instagram followers on Monday, the father-of-five can be seen singing wistful lyrics about his 'island girl' while stripped to waist. In one choice verse, he croons: 'Said I wanna girl, wanna girl, wanna girl from the island. We pull another drink and move till the sun's up.' Peter faced inevitable backlash for his starring role in Jafaican, a new film in which he plays a fraudster charged with mastering Jamaican culture in order to commit a major fraud Captioning his post, Peter confirmed there was even more where that came from, adding: 'If summer was a song, this would be it. Heatwave incoming… new album dropping soon.' In May, the singer defended his decision to star in Jafaican - which has been described as 'profoundly disrespectful' - by recalling the racial abuse he experienced as a child growing up in Australia. The singer was born in London to Greek-Cypriot parents Savaas and Thea Andre before the family emigrated to Sydney on Australia's east coast when he was six. Peter said he was once tied to a fence by blue-eyed, blonde-haired school-children who 'threw stones at his head because of his darker skin tone'. He told The Sun: 'I remember the bullying and the racism we suffered as kids in Australia and how tough that was. 'But it gave me a deep understanding of what's truly offensive and what's not. If someone dressed up with a curly wig and a big nose, doing a Greek accent, I'd probably laugh – it depends on the intention. 'But if someone said "I hate you Greeks" or made hateful comments about our skin, that's where the line is. That's racism.'

And her Cheltenham Festival target has already been decided. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Willie Mullins and billionaire Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary had a public falling out a few years ago but they are big mates again now and could have a superstar on their hands in the shape of £300,000 Poetisa Credit: Sportsfile - Subscription The latest Horse Racing Ireland update showed Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary's Gigginstown House Stud as the owner of Poetisa. Mullins and right-hand man Harold Kirk saw off Nicky Henderson to land the Cheltenham winner at the Goffs sales in May. Formerly trained by Toby Bulgin, Poetisa won a mares' bumper at the home of jumps in April. Sent off 20-1 under former champion jockey Brian Hughes, she stayed on well up the hill after meeting trouble to win by a neck. Poetisa commanded a price tag of £42,000 as a three-year-old but her value soared after the Cheltenham victory. And Mullins clearly liked what he saw, with her pedigree suggesting big things lie in store in the future. Poetisa is from the same family as multiple Grade 1-winning superstar Macs Joy. The Jessica Harrington-trained hurdler won over half a million quid from 31 career races, which included nine victories. And O'Leary will be hoping for something similar from his newly-acquired mare. Gigginstown House were also listed as the new owners of French import Mino Des Mottes, who it is thought is also in training with Mullins. But it's Poetisa who Kirk has big hopes for. And he had already decided her target for the Festival when splashing the cash a few months ago. The bloodstock expert said: "She's a Cheltenham winner already and she'll only improve. "She was very classy when she won. She's a lovely mare and hopefully she'll go down the mares' route over hurdles as there's a big programme for these mares now." Poetisa can be backed at 10-1 for the Mares Novices' Hurdle, with Mullins' Champion Bumper winner Bambino Fever the 3-1 favourite.
