Every player in Philadelphia 76ers history who has worn the No. 35
It's summertime in the NBA, so it's time to learn some history. The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the older franchises in the NBA. Their history dates to the 1949-50 season. With that longevity, the team has had hundreds of players come through the City of Brotherly Love. Sixers Wire looks at the No. 35 which has been worn by 16 of those players in the history of the franchise. This running series will go through all of the uniform numbers worn in franchise history. Here is the list of the 16 players who have worn No. 35 in Sixers history: Bill Gabor This goes back to the franchise's Syracuse Nationals days, but Gabor only wore No. 35 during the 1949-50 season. He switched to No. 7 the following season. He made an All-Star game and averaged 9.8 points in his career with the team. Art Heyman Heyman only played six games for the Sixers in his career and averaged 1.7 points and 0.7 rebounds during his time in Philadelphia. Bob Weiss Weiss, known mostly for his coaching career, played two seasons for Philadelphia. He wore No. 35 in the 1965-66 season before switching to No. 12 the following season. He played in 13 games and averaged 1.4 points and 1.1 assists. Barry Yates Yates played in just 24 games for his entire NBA career, all with the Sixers, and he averaged 2.9 points and 1.7 rebounds while wearing the No. 35. Dave Sorenson Sorenson, playing for Ohio State from his college days in the above photo, averaged 5.9 points and 3.6 rebounds in 48 games for the Sixers in the 1972-73 season. Armen Gilliam Gilliam played in 211 games with 157 starts across three seasons with the Sixers, and he averaged 14.7 points and 7.2 rebounds. He was a very productive player for them. Clarence Weatherspoon Weatherspoon wore No. 30 in his rookie season before switching to No. 35. He averaged 15.3 points and 8.3 rebounds in 488 games with the Sixers before being moved to the Golden State Warriors. Deng Gai Gai played in two games with Philadelphia, and he did not record a stat across five minutes played. Henry Sims Sims was acquired from the Cleveland Cavaliers in the middle of The Process era, and he played in 99 games with 57 starts. He averaged 9 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 47.9% for Philadelphia. Christian Wood Before he made strides in the NBA, Wood was a member of the Sixers. He played in only 17 games before he was waived. He had issues with then-coach Brett Brown who did not give him the proper playing time. Trevor Booker Booker was acquired from the Brooklyn Nets in the Jahlil Okafor deal, and he averaged 4.7 points and 3.7 rebounds across 33 games. He was a player who did the dirty work for Philadelphia. Marial Shayok Shayok played four games for the Sixers in the 2019-20 season, and he averaged 2.8 points and 1.8 rebounds. Insider Sheds Light on AJ Brown's Chances of Facing Cowboys
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The season opener is around the corner for AJ Brown and the Philadelphia Eagles. Soon, the Super Bowl champions will be hosting the Dallas Cowboys, where they hope to pick up where they left off. Will AJ Brown be in the mix with the team at the start of the regular season? That will be one of the biggest question marks going into the game. Lately, Brown has been dealing with a hamstring injury. He's been in and out of the Eagles' practice sessions this summer. This week, Brown has been sidelined as the Eagles prepare for their final outing of the preseason. A.J. Brown #11 of the Philadelphia Eagles reacts during the Philadelphia Eagles Training Camp at NovaCare Complex on July 28, 2025 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A.J. Brown #11 of the Philadelphia Eagles reacts during the Philadelphia Eagles Training Camp at NovaCare Complex on July 28, 2025 in Philadelphia, chances of Brown playing in the Eagles' matchup against the New York Jets seemed low with or without the setback. The fact that he hasn't been suited up is pretty telling about his status. As far as Week 1 goes, the NFL Insider Mike Garafolo expressed confidence in Brown's availability for that matchup against the Cowboys. "I'm gonna say yes!" Garafolo said, predicting whether Brown would play or not. "Barring some setback, we've been telling you that there hasn't been a great concern about his status for Week 1. It's just making sure that they're not going to suffer some kind of setback." From The Insiders on @nflnetwork: #Eagles WR A.J. Brown is working his way back into action well ahead of Week 1. Barring an unforeseen setback, he's on track to face the #Cowboys in 16 days. — Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) August 19, 2025 The Eagles seem to be taking it easy with Brown for obvious reasons. Being that the star wide receiver is among the best at his position, he's critical to the Eagles' offensive success. Since he's a proven All-Pro, the Eagles don't need to see much out of Brown in training camp. Their best bet is to keep him off the field if he's not one-hundred percent for now. Brown landed on the Eagles following his 2021 run with the Tennessee Titans. He appeared in 13 games, catching 63 passes for 869 yards and five touchdowns during his final run with the Titans. Once Brown got to the Eagles, he instantly had a career year. In 2022, Brown caught 88 passes for 1,496 yards and 11 touchdowns in 17 games. During the 2023 NFL season, Brown followed up with 1,456 yards and seven touchdowns in 17 games. Last season, the Eagles' passing game took a bit of a hit. Struggles and a heavy dose of Saquon Barkley nearly prevented Brown from missing the 1K mark for just the second time in his career. However, he got it in 13 games. With 67 catches, Brown totaled 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns. Being in his prime, Brown remains a critical piece for the Eagles. The team hopes to have him on board for their first game of the season. For more Philadelphia Eagles and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.

Andy Reid's Family Still Dealing With Unspeakable Tragedy
Andy Reid's Family Still Dealing With Unspeakable Tragedy originally appeared on The Spun. Andy Reid's family is still dealing with an unspeakable tragedy. The Kansas City Chiefs head coach is gearing up for yet another NFL season. Reid, 67, is entering his 13th season leading the AFC West franchise. He's won three Super Bowls and has appeared in seven straight AFC Championship Games. Reid, who previously coached in Philadelphia, is one of the best head coaches in the history of the game, with a 273-146 career record. But while Reid has accomplished a lot on the field, he and his family are still dealing with an unspeakable tragedy, that comes up each NFL preseason. Reid and his family's unspeakable tragedy was the recent focus of Episode 2 of "The Kingdom" on ESPN. The ESPN original series is six parts and focuses on Kansas City's quest for a three-peat. Back in 2012, Reid and his family suffered an unspeakable tragedy, that they continue to live with today. Reid's family suffered heartbreak in 2012 Andy Reid's son, Garrett Reid, was serving on the Philadelphia Eagles coaching staff in 2012. Tragically, during training camp, Reid's son was found dead in his room at the team's training camp facility. Garrett Reid died from an accidental overdose. ESPN NFL insider Louis Riddick, who was working for the Eagles, still remembers the tragedy to this day. "I had just seen Garrett the day before," Riddick recalled on "The Kingdom." "Garrett was one of those stories where you rooted for him because of everything he had been through with drug addiction. "But he was such a frickin' likable guy. He had this big personality. "He was a kid who had an addiction who was trying to kick it and was trying to get his life in order and was living in a dorm room right across the hall from his father at training camp. "Those demons got him. Simple as that." The Reid family remains heartbroken Andy Reid's family continues to be heartbroken in the wake of the devastating, unspeakable tragedy. An autopsy confirmed that Garrett Reid died from overdose. "These results sadly confirmed what we had expected all along," the family said in a statement. "We understood that Garrett's long-standing battle with addiction was going to be difficult. "He will, however, always have our family's love and respect for the courage he showed in trying to overcome it. "In the end, we take comfort in our faith and know that he's in a better place." Reid has pushed forward through tragedy Reid, who would leave Philadelphia following that 2012 season, has become one of the greatest coaches ever in Kansas City. The Chiefs fell short of a three-peat in 2024, losing to the Eagles in Super Bowl 59, 40-22, but they'll head into the fall as serious contenders. Kansas City will open the 2025 season on the road, in Brazil, taking on the Chargers.
