After slow start, Ducks take down Oilers
April 8 - Mason McTavish scored the game-winner and Lukas Dostal tied his season high with 45 saves as the Anaheim Ducks edged the visiting Edmonton Oilers 3-2 on Monday night.
Cutter Gauthier scored twice for the Ducks (34-35-8, 76 points), who avoided a third straight loss.
Adam Henrique had a goal and an assist and Jeff Skinner also tallied for the Oilers (44-28-5, 93 points), who have lost back-to-back games and dropped to 7-4-1 over their past 12.
Olivier Rodrigue, who made his first NHL start, stopped 18 shots in the loss.
Anaheim took a 3-1 lead at 5:33 of the third as McTavish stripped Kasperi Kapanen of the puck in the Ducks' zone and beat Rodrigue with a wrist shot on a breakaway for his team-leading 21st of the season.
Edmonton pulled to 3-2 at 16:29 of the third as Skinner tipped an Evan Bouchard shot past Dostal for his 16th of the season.
Gauthier scored twice in the second period to erase Anaheim's 1-0 deficit.
The Ducks tied it 1-1 at 2:20 of the middle frame as Gauthier one-timed a Leo Carlsson feed past Rodrigue for his 16th.
The Ducks forward added his second of the period at 7:10, cutting around Bouchard and putting a backhand shot up and over Rodrigue's glove.
Monday was Gauthier's third two-goal game of the season. The 21-year-old has three goals and four assists in four career games against the Oilers.
Edmonton outshot Anaheim 14-6 in the first period and led 1-0 after 20 minutes.
Henrique opened the scoring with 2:09 remaining in the first frame, deflecting Jake Walman's point shot past an out-of-position Dostal for his 11th of the season.
Trent Frederic, who made his Oilers debut on Saturday, missed the Monday game due to an ankle injury.
Monday was the fourth and final meeting between the Ducks and Oilers. Anaheim won two of previous meetings between the Pacific Division rivals, taking a 5-3 decision on Dec. 29 and a 6-2 victory on March 4. Edmonton edged Anaheim 3-2 on Jan. 3.

Oilers' Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (undisclosed injury) game-time call for Game 3
June 8 - Edmonton Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch said Sunday that Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will be a game-time decision for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final on Monday against the host Florida Panthers. The Oilers did not disclose Nugent-Hopkins' injury. The forward missed Sunday's practice. "We think (he'll be available)," Knoblauch said. "We'll play it by ear." Edmonton's fourth-leading scorer in the playoffs at 18 points (five goals, 13 assists), Nugent-Hopkins took 31 shifts totaling 25:45 of ice time in Friday's double-overtime Game 2. The Oilers dropped that contest 5-4 to allow the Panthers to even the series at 1-1. Nugent-Hopkins, who has spent 14 seasons with the franchise that selected him No. 1 overall in the 2011 draft, tallied 20 goals and 29 assists in 78 regular-season games. --Field Level Media

Mariners CF Julio Rodriguez in lineup vs. Angels
June 8 - True to his word, Seattle Mariners center fielder Julio Rodriguez is in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim, Calif. Rodriguez was listed to bat second in the team's lineup on Sunday, one day after he needed to be helped off the field in an 8-6 setback to the Angels. The two-time All-Star was hit by batter Randy Arozarena's 98.1 mph one-hopper off the bone above his right ankle while attempting to steal third base. X-rays were negative. "There's a high chance that I should be in the lineup (on Sunday)," Rodriguez told reporters after the game. "So just seeing how it reacts through the night and like how I wake up tomorrow. But I feel very positive that tomorrow will be a better day." Rodriguez, 24, is batting .254 with 10 home runs and 33 RBIs in 62 games this season. --Field Level Media

Panthers even Cup series with Oilers on Brad Marchand's 2OT goal
June 7 - Brad Marchand scored the overtime winning goal to give the visiting Florida Panthers a roller coaster-ride 5-4 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Friday and evened the Stanley Cup Final. After the Panthers surrendered a final-minute Oilers goal to force overtime, they recovered thanks to Marchand's breakaway tally at 8:05 of the second overtime period, his second tally of the night. Seth Jones collected one goal and one assist while Sam Bennett and Dmitry Kulikov notched singles for the Panthers, who tied the best-of-seven series at 1. Nate Schmidt and Anton Lundell added a pair of assists for the defending Stanley Cup champions. Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky made 42 saves, his biggest against a Kasperi Kapanen chance off a rush minutes before the winner. Both games went to overtime after the Panthers surrendered third-period leads. The series moves to Sunrise, Fla., for Game 3 on Monday. Evan Bouchard scored once in a three-point game for the Oilers, while Leon Draisaitl netted one goal and one assist and Evander Kane and Corey Perry scored once. Connor McDavid posted three assists and goalie Stuart Skinner stopped 37 shots. Just like the series opener, both teams staked and lost a lead. Bennett kicked off the wild first period with his league-high 13th goal of the playoffs, a quick-release, power-play marker at the 2:07 mark. The Oilers responded with a pair of tallies 100 seconds apart before the midway point of the frame. Kane put the hosts on the board at 7:39 by burying a shot off the wing, and Bouchard gave Edmonton its first lead right after when his second attempt from the high slot found the sweet spot. Jones evened the score at 11:37 of the period when he found an open net after a cross-ice feed from Eetu Luostarinen. However, Draisaitl made it a 3-2 game exactly one minute later with a tap-in power-play goal set up by McDavid. Kulikov again tied the clash at 8:23 of the second period, banking his point shot off Bouchard's body, and Marchand's short-handed breakaway goal, gave the Panthers a 4-3 edge at 12:09 of the second period. But with the goalie pulled for the extra attacker, Perry chipped into the net a loose puck with 17.8 seconds remaining in regulation, the latest tying goal in Finals history. --Field Level Media
