Minnesota Vikings announce special uniform matchups for 2025 season

USA Today2 days ago
The Minnesota Vikings announced that they will wear their two popular alternate uniforms in 2025 three times. They're hoping to find success in them once again after going 2-0 in alternate uniforms last year.
The Vikings announced they will wear their Winter Warrior uniforms on Christmas Day against the Detroit Lions. Last year was the first time the Vikings used the Winter Warrior attire, a full white-out that included a white helmet. They defeated the Chicago Bears 30-12 in Week 15.
They will wear their throwback uniforms in Week 2 when they face the Atlanta Falcons in their home opener on Sunday Night Football, and in Week 18 when they host the Green Bay Packers. Last year, the Vikings wore the throwback uniforms in a 34-7 dismantling of the Houston Texans in Week 3.
Let's hope the Vikings find the same success in 2025 that they did in 2024 when changing up their uniforms.

One International Game Every Year for Each NFL Team is on 'The Horizon'

Could an increase in international regular-season games a year be in the near future for the NFL? It's certainly a possibility. In fact, an "international game every year for every team" is "probably on the horizon," according to Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank, per NBC Sports. Blank's comments during an interview at Falcons training camp on Saturday come months after league commissioner Roger Goodell said last fall that the NFL wants to stage 16 international games per year. The league is limited to a maximum of 10 international games per year under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement, but that number is reportedly widely expected to increase to 16 in the next labor deal. With 32 NFL teams, that would be a big lift for the league to schedule that many international games every season. In May, the league announced the full matchups for all but one game in its record seven-game international slate, which includes the Minnesota Vikings playing back-to-back games in different European countries (Ireland and England). The one matchup that hasn't been announced is who the Los Angeles Chargers will play in Week 1 in Brazil. The current schedule is: Week 1 (Friday, Sept. 5): TBD vs. Chargers at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, Brazil (Time TBD) Week 4 (Sunday, Sept. 28): Vikings vs. Steelers at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland (9:30 a.m. ET) Week 5 (Sunday, Oct. 5): Vikings vs. Browns at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England (9:30 a.m. ET) Week 6 (Sunday, Oct. 12): Broncos vs. Jets at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England (9:30 a.m. ET) Week 7 (Sunday, Oct. 19): Rams vs. Jaguars at Wembley Stadium in Wembley, England (9:30 a.m. ET) Week 10 (Sunday, Nov. 9): Falcons vs. Colts at Olympic Stadium in Berlin, Germany (9:30 a.m. ET) Week 11 (Sunday, Nov. 16): Commanders vs. Dolphins in Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid, Spain (9:30 a.m. ET) Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? Commanders Star WR Reacts to Ending Training Camp Holdout

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. With his contract holdout ongoing, Terry McLaurin's absence was the biggest talking point at the start of training camp for the Washington Commanders. Though a new deal hasn't come about yet, the veteran wide receiver has made a return in some capacity. On Sunday, McLaurin was in the building with the Commanders following his decision not to arrive for the first day of training camp. This is a step in the right direction, but there are still some setbacks. Washington has placed McLaurin on the Physically Unable to Perform list due to an ankle injury. Though he won't be able to practice with his teammates, he'll still be around getting work in with the team's training staff. McLaurin has been a pillar for the Commanders organization for years and is beloved by the fan base. Despite the fact that this holdout has gone on for months now, the front office has made it abundantly clear that keeping the veteran wideout in Washington is the primary objective. Overall, he feels good to be back around the team as his off-field situation drags on. "It feels good to be around my teammates and around the fans," McLaurin told reporters. "I can't beat that at all. They showed me a lot of love and support. You lose sight of some things when the business gets involved, but I never lost sight of the way they supported me. It's business, but it has nothing to do with them. It's tough, but it's the business right now, just trying to take things day by day." On the field, McLaurin has proven he can be one of the league's top talents at his position. Now, he wants to be compensated as such. Price remains a major roadblock, but it appears both sides are working diligently to work out a proper agreement. Also: Commanders Coach Unfazed by Terry McLaurin's Holdout In the meantime, all the Commanders can do is continue moving forward in terms of preparing for the 2025 campaign. McLaurin being back in the mix should provide a boost, but there is still a lot of work to be done. He has to get himself right physically with his ankle, and his representation needs to settle things with the front office. For more Washington Commanders and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.
