Spartans reportedly in communication with high-end 4-star SF prospect
A major small forward prospect in the 2026 class has reportedly been in talks with Michigan State basketball recently.
Michigan State was one of a few schools Southside Hoops recently mentioned as being in contact with four-star small forward Anthony Felesi. According to Southside Hoops, Felesi has been "hearing" from Michigan State, Kentucky, Duke, Purdue, Michigan and Missouri recently.
Felesi is a high-end four-star prospect, with a recruiting rating of 98.27 in 247Sports' composite system. He ranks as the No. 20 small forward and No. 47 overall prospect in 247Sports' composite rankings. He is also listed as the No. 2 player from Utah.
Michigan State has not yet formally extended an offer to Felesi, per 247Sports. He does, however, hold offers from more than 10 schools, including Louisville, UCLA, BYU, LSU, Cal, Oregon, UNLV, Utah, Villanova, Utah State and USF.
Michigan State currently holds one commitment in its 2026 class in point guard Carlos Medlock Jr. So we should keep an eye on the Spartans potentially further pursuing Felesi as a small forward prospect.

Report: Notre Dame to unofficially host 5-star Penn State commit in hopes of a flip
The recruiting battles between Notre Dame and Penn State continue, and this time it's the Irish attempting to flip a 2027 Nittany Lions commit. Kemon Spell made his verbal to PSU in August of 2024, but according to a report by 247Sports Tom Loy, the 5-foot, 9-inch and 205-pound star running back will make an unofficial trip to South Bend when they host Texas A&M on Sept. 13th. That's not the only visit the country's No. 9 overall prospect according the 247Sports Composite will visit, as trips to see Penn State, Florida State and Alabama will happen during the season as well. The report also states that Spell will try and make it out to a game against Ohio State, all of which means that he most likely could be heading towards flipping to another school. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out, but the Irish would love to have another 5-star prospect entering its program. At the current moment, Notre Dame has three commits in the 2027 class, highlighted by quarterback Teddy Jarrard. We are sure that he'd love to see Spell in the backfield with him in South Bend. Iowa football QB Mark Gronowski named to 2025 Maxwell Award watch list

The Maxwell Award is presented annually to the most outstanding player in college football. At 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, the native of Naperville, Illinois, will be in his first and final season with the Hawkeyes after transferring from South Dakota State, where he led the Jackrabbits to a pair of FCS national championships in 2022 and 2023. Gronowski was the 2023 FCS statistical leader in passing efficiency (179.67) and compiled a 49-6 career record as the Jackrabbits' starting quarterback, with the 49 wins tying for the most wins in history by an FCS quarterback. Gronowski has already won the FCS equivalent of the Maxwell Award, when he secured the 2023 Walter Payton Award with South Dakota State. The Maxwell Award has been awarded to College Football's Player of the Year since 1937 and is named in honor of Robert Maxwell for his contributions to the game as a player, sportswriter, and official. Only two Hawkeyes have ever won the high distinction in the award's history: halfback Nile Kinnick in 1939 and quarterback Chuck Long in 1985. Semifinalists for the award will be announced on Nov. 11, while finalists for the distinction will be revealed on Nov. 25. The winner will be announced on Dec. 11. While the list is quite expansive at the moment, Gronowski will have an excellent opportunity to prove he is worthy of the award with a potentially historic Iowa season on the horizon. Notre Dame will host in-state 5-star WR for an unofficial visit this fall vs. Texas A&M
While Notre Dame football hasn't had the best luck with some of the in-state wide receiver prospects over the last few classes, but there could be a change coming to that in the 2027 cycle. Monshun Sales is one of the top prospects nationally, not just in Indiana, and on Monday it was reported by On3's Steve Wiltfong (subscription required) that he will make an unofficial visit to South Bend this fall for the contest against Texas A&M. The 6-foot, 5-inch and 195-pound receiver is a 5-star prospect, ranking as the No. 13 overall player in the 2027 class by the 247Sports Composite. The Irish are battling multiple teams for Sales' commitment, as he will also take trips to see Ohio State and Indiana this fall, while other schools like Alabama, LSU, Michigan, the Aggies and Missouri are also recruiting him hard with hopes of setting up a trip to see their campuses. There aren't many in-state prospects that are must-gets for Notre Dame, but in my estimation, Sales is one of them. Hopefully this visit is the start of many more to South Bend, and eventually Sales calls it his home for multiple seasons.
