PALISADE, Colo. (KREX) — WesternSlopeNow has obtained new information regarding the deadly roll over crash that killed one and took five others to the hospital.
According to Colorado State Patrol (CSP) Trooper Sherri Mendez, the driver of the Kia Sorento struck a delineator post, leading to the deadly crash.
'It went off the right side of the roadway and struck a delineator post before striking a dirt embankment. The Kia Sorento flipped over, ejecting the driver side passenger before rolling over on top of the driver side passengers' leg. The driver side passenger was pronounced dead on scene. The five other occupants were transported to the hospital with moderate to life threatening injuries.'
What caused the driver to hit the delineator post is still under investigation.

CSP did not immediately respond to a request for more information. There was also no word on the condition of the three injured people.

The Colorado State Patrol and local law enforcement are investigating a fatal crash on I-25 north on Saturday afternoon. According to CSP, the crash happened near milepost 165 north of Woodmoor around 12:15 p.m. Authorities said it involved two vehicles, a silver Honda Accord and a grey GMC Yukon. One person involved in the crash was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger in that vehicle has been flown to an area hospital for treatment. All northbound lanes of the interstate are closed while authorities investigate the scene. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said there is currently no estimated time for when the interstate will reopen and advised drivers to take an alternate route. The Colorado Department of Transportation said traffic is passing on the left shoulder and warned that long delays are expected.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Around 10 p.m. Monday, the driver of a Lexus sedan was traveling westbound on Highway 6 and 50 near 25 Road when it struck several objects before rolling and crashing into Holman House Furniture. Two of the occupants fled the scene on foot but later returned to the location. GJPD reports that three individuals were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Authorities are still investigating the incident and believe that alcohol, and excessive speed, may have played a role in the crash.
