Mom goes into labor dressed as the Grinch—and finds joy in the chaos
The 19-year-old from Vernon, British Columbia, went into labor while trick-or-treating with her younger brother and ended up rolling into the hospital in full costume: green face paint, Santa suit, and even an onion in hand. 'It was really hard for me to walk, so my husband grabbed me a wheelchair, and I wheeled into the emergency room in full costume,' she told Newsweek. 'We couldn't stop laughing because I was dressed up, and other people in the ER started laughing, too.'
Nurses laughed right along
Her due date wasn't until November 28—nearly a month away—so the whole scene caught everyone by surprise. Nurses at Vernon Jubilee Hospital tried to keep it professional, but Katelyn encouraged them to join in the laughter. 'It made me feel more comfortable and made the experience more fun,' she said.
At one point, staff even snapped a photo of her mid-contraction, still trying to smile through the green paint.

TikTok moms know the feeling
Katelyn's TikTok has now been viewed more than 7.1 million times, with thousands of parents chiming in to say her story captures both the comedy and chaos of labor.
'I think you had an original experience,' one user posted.
'And then imagine the face while pushing for the baby omg,' another added.
And one summed it up: 'Trying to steal Christmas, but ended up stealing our hearts.'
The birth didn't follow her script
Though the costume moment was unforgettable, labor stretched far longer than Katelyn imagined. She was admitted at 4 centimeters dilated and endured 18 days of contractions before giving birth to her daughter, Olivia, on November 18. By then, the Grinch makeup had worn off—but the story was sealed as family legend.

Why this resonates with every mom
For every hilarious detail, there's a bigger truth moms recognize instantly: labor is unpredictable. You can write a birth plan, pack the perfect bag, or time your due date down to the week, but babies have their own timelines. And sometimes, you find yourself laughing through contractions in green face paint because humor is the only way through the chaos.

Pumpkin spice lattes return with the new Dunkin' fall menu
This is not a drill. The iconic pumpkin spice latte (A.K.A. PSL) has landed. The unofficial start to 'sweat-uh weather-uh' has begun, as fall flavors — love 'em or hate 'em — have officially landed at Dunkin', along with the return of an even sweeter collab from two-time Grammy Award-winning superstar, Sabrina Carpenter. While espresso isn't one of the ingredients in her new refresher drinks, it is in Dunkin's new Cereal N' Milk Latte mixed with marshmallowy cereal milk. The nostalgic drink even has its own merch. With Dunkin's fall menu available now, it has beaten out PSL-trendsetter Starbucks to the punch this year, with the upscale coffee chain releasing its fall menu on Aug. 26. Here are the new and returning favorites on Dunkin's fall menu. 🥣 Cereal N' Milk Latte The fast food chain is serving up bottom-of-the-bowl cereal goodness, and a kick of caffeine in a cup with its Cereal N' Milk Latte. Available hot or iced, the drink 'combines espresso with cereal milk for a marshmallow-cereal flavor that's creamy, rich and unmistakably nostalgic,' according to the company's news release. 'The idea came from the best part of eating cereal, that last bit of milk. We all remember finishing a bowl just to enjoy those final, sweet sips, which inspired our new Cereal N' Milk Latte,' said Anthony Epter, vice president of menu innovation at Dunkin', according to the release. 'With our very own cereal milk blended with rich espresso, the Cereal N' Milk Latte brings that marshmallow-flavored, bottom-of-the-bowl taste in every sip. Just like the Dunkalatte, it gives the classic latte a fun new twist.' For lovers of all things cereal and milk, Dunkin' released its own line of Cereal N' Milk gear, including T-shirts, sweaters and hats on its website. 🍓 Sabrina Carpenter's trio of Daydream Refreshers Singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter is back for an encore with her Daydream Refresher collab with Dunkin'. The drink is crafted with oatmilk and topped with cold foam and now comes in a trio of flavors, with mixed berry joining mango and strawberry. Dunkin' customers can create their own refresher by customizing their own drink bases, including green tea, black tea, lemonade, sparkling water, water or oatmilk, and flavors and amount of sweetness. 'More fun is brewing next month,' the company teased in the release, 'so fans can stay tuned to Dunkin's social channels for what's next.' 🎃 Pumpkin' at Dunkin' The Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte has entered the room, crowned with whipped cream, caramel and cinnamon sugar. For customers who don't want to take the plunge into fall just yet, a pumpkin flavor swirl can be added to any hot or iced coffee, cold brew or espresso drink. Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis Set as Netflix's Next Big Livestream Boxing Match
It's official: Netflix's next big live boxing match will feature Jake Paul taking on reigning WBA world champ Gervonta Davis in a showdown in Atlanta. Most Valuable Promotions and Netflix announced the matchup Wednesday. Jake 'El Gallo de Dorado' Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) will fight undefeated three-division champion Gervonta 'Tank' Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) — billed as 'the modern-day Mike Tyson,' who has knocked out 28 of his 31 opponents to date. Can't Answer Its Title Question: TV Review The fight is set for Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, and will stream live globally exclusively on Netflix at no additional cost to subscribers. Additional information, including the co-main event and undercards, will be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets for the event are slated to go on sale next month via Ticketmaster. Paul, the online influencer turned pro boxer, will return to Netflix following his record-breaking fight against Mike Tyson in November 2024, which drew an estimated average minute audience (AMA) of 108 million live viewers globally — making it the most-streamed sporting event to date, according to Netflix. 'Jake vs. Tank' marks MVP's third live event on Netflix in 12 months, following Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 3 in July 2025, the first all-women's professional sporting event on the service. The Paul-Davis fight is 'the culmination of four years of callouts and a brewing rivalry' between the two boxers, according to MVP. Both have 'battled to claim the title of modern boxing's biggest star, setting the stage for this monumental showdown.' Paul, in a statement provided by Netflix and MVP, said: 'Gervonta is an angry little elf who has been disrespecting my name for too long. His nickname might be Tank, but I'm an FPV drone and I'm about to disable his ass. Yes, he is one of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the world, but my motto is anyone, anytime, anyplace, against all odds. And I like my odds. First, I am going to kill David, then I will go on to slaughter Goliath, and you are all going watch me do it, breaking viewership records again. Atlanta. Friday, Nov. 14th. The worst night of Gervonta's career, live only on Netflix.' MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian said, 'Jake Paul and Tank Davis have redefined the professional combat sports landscape as the top fighters among Gen Z and Gen Alpha audiences. Now they will collide to determine the true face of boxing's next generation.' 'This isn't just a fight, it's a spectacle that brings together two of the most electrifying figures in boxing today,' said Brandon Riegg, Netflix's VP of nonfiction series and sports. 'We're building on our momentum with live sports and giving our members exactly what they want: a massive, can't-miss event with global appeal.' Ahead of the Paul-Davis fight, Netflix on will livestream the Sept. 13 super middleweight bout between Canelo Álvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) and Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) in partnership with Zuffa Boxing. Man Tries To Make Presentation, Cat Decides 'It's Her Time To Shine'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The moment a cat took over during her owner's practice presentation for school left viewers in stitches. An August 16 TikTok video posted by user @kayboltsmith showed a husband, Nathan Smith, standing in front of the camera with his wife, Kayla, sitting on a padded table. Nathan needed to film a presentation for his physical therapy program and used Kayla as his patient. But with a "needy kitten" in the house, those plans got interrupted. In the midst of recording his presentation, the couple's cat, Bee, began circling around the table. Their mouths dropped when she hopped up. Trying to keep the laughter in, Kayla used her hand to cover her mouth. Knowing there could be distractions as a physical therapist, the show went on and Nathan continued to present. Meanwhile, Bee climbed over Kayla and made herself comfortable. The text on the video read: "It's her time to shine." The couple lost it when the cat began cleaning herself, angling herself perfectly in the frame. Kayla told Newsweek via TikTok that the cat's interruption went on for about five minutes before her husband finally picked Bee up and shooed her off-screen. "This was our first PT video we had to make since adopting her so I knew something was about to happen!" Luckily, Nathan was not presenting live. He had the option to rerecord, but decided this version would work. "He said his professor is chill and will likely find it funny," she said. Viewer Reactions People are obsessed with the cat's interest in the couple's activities, and as of Wednesday, the TikTok video reached over 27,800 views and 5,839 likes. "She just wanted to be involved," a viewer wrote, while a second person commented: "No, but I wish my PT's office had a cat." Another added: "I would be giving bonus points for the cat assisting." Many laughed at how Nathan "scooped her up" after she made herself comfortable on the table and others wondered what grade he received. Kayla responded: "I told him he's gonna get points off for twisting her spine. Bad PT." Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share?
