Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis Set as Netflix's Next Big Livestream Boxing Match
Most Valuable Promotions and Netflix announced the matchup Wednesday. Jake 'El Gallo de Dorado' Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) will fight undefeated three-division champion Gervonta 'Tank' Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) — billed as 'the modern-day Mike Tyson,' who has knocked out 28 of his 31 opponents to date.

The fight is set for Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, and will stream live globally exclusively on Netflix at no additional cost to subscribers. Additional information, including the co-main event and undercards, will be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets for the event are slated to go on sale next month via Ticketmaster.
Paul, the online influencer turned pro boxer, will return to Netflix following his record-breaking fight against Mike Tyson in November 2024, which drew an estimated average minute audience (AMA) of 108 million live viewers globally — making it the most-streamed sporting event to date, according to Netflix. 'Jake vs. Tank' marks MVP's third live event on Netflix in 12 months, following Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 3 in July 2025, the first all-women's professional sporting event on the service.
The Paul-Davis fight is 'the culmination of four years of callouts and a brewing rivalry' between the two boxers, according to MVP. Both have 'battled to claim the title of modern boxing's biggest star, setting the stage for this monumental showdown.'
Paul, in a statement provided by Netflix and MVP, said: 'Gervonta is an angry little elf who has been disrespecting my name for too long. His nickname might be Tank, but I'm an FPV drone and I'm about to disable his ass. Yes, he is one of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the world, but my motto is anyone, anytime, anyplace, against all odds. And I like my odds. First, I am going to kill David, then I will go on to slaughter Goliath, and you are all going watch me do it, breaking viewership records again. Atlanta. Friday, Nov. 14th. The worst night of Gervonta's career, live only on Netflix.'
MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian said, 'Jake Paul and Tank Davis have redefined the professional combat sports landscape as the top fighters among Gen Z and Gen Alpha audiences. Now they will collide to determine the true face of boxing's next generation.'
'This isn't just a fight, it's a spectacle that brings together two of the most electrifying figures in boxing today,' said Brandon Riegg, Netflix's VP of nonfiction series and sports. 'We're building on our momentum with live sports and giving our members exactly what they want: a massive, can't-miss event with global appeal.'
Ahead of the Paul-Davis fight, Netflix on will livestream the Sept. 13 super middleweight bout between Canelo Álvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) and Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) in partnership with Zuffa Boxing.

There is no one in the NFL like Commanders TE John Bates
You don't often pay backup tight ends $21 million over three seasons when they have 61 career receptions in four NFL seasons. Not every tight end who averages 15 receptions per season is Washington Commanders tight John Bates, either. After last season, Washington's top two tight ends, Zach Ertz and John Bates, were free agents. The Commanders prioritized both. Ertz was brought back on a one-year deal, something he's comfortable with at this stage of his career, while Bates signed a three-year extension. The fifth-year tight end from Boise State is one of the few draft success stories from the Ron Rivera era. The Commanders showed Bates the love he deserves. So why is a fifth-year tight end with only 61 career receptions so in-demand? We'll show you. Longtime for NFL offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz: Nobody breaks it down like Brian Baldinger: You get the point. Bates is good at what he does. In fact, he's the best at what he does, which is why he would've had numerous suitors in the offseason had he chosen to entertain offers from other teams. Please make no mistake, he can make plays in the passing game, too, when his number is called. Bates is the reason Kliff Kingsbury loves to keep two tight ends on the field. He's like an extra offensive lineman. While he's a solid pass blocker, Bates is a difference-maker in the run game. When you look back at Washington's surprising offensive success last season, Bates was an integral part of that success. This offseason, the Commanders prioritized upgrading the offensive line, which should help the run game. Bates' return, much like his career, goes under the radar. He wouldn't have it any other way. Earlier this offseason, Ertz called Bates the best blocking tight end he'd ever been around. Washington is happy to have Bates, as keeping him was quietly one of its best offseason moves. A Woman Attended Her Best Friend's Backyard Nuptials. Then, She Found Out the Bride Secretly Had a Second, More Lavish Wedding
"I honestly feel duped," the woman wrote on Reddit NEED TO KNOW A woman attended her best friend's small backyard wedding — then, she found out the bride secretly had a lavish "secret second wedding" the next day and didn't invite her "Turns out, the one I went to was the 'pre-wedding' for friends who 'wouldn't fit into the real event,' " she explained on Reddit The woman said she now feels "duped" by her friend A woman attended her best friend's intimate backyard nuptials, only to later find out the bride secretly had a more lavish second wedding — and didn't invite her. The woman shared the story on Reddit's "Wedding Drama" forum, beginning by explaining that her friend had a "cute" and "intimate" backyard ceremony last weekend, with about 40 people in attendance. "We all assumed it was her actual wedding," the OP (original poster) wrote. But then, days later, the OP found out something that shocked her. "I saw someone post photos from a second wedding she had the following day — same groom, completely different location, guest list and vibe. Big white dress, expensive venue, live band, plated dinner," she wrote. "Turns out, the one I went to was the 'pre-wedding' for friends who 'wouldn't fit into the real event,' " the OP added. She said the situation left her feeling "duped." "I bought a gift, traveled 3 hours, and now it feels like I wasn't invited to the real thing," she concluded her post, which was titled "The Secret Second Wedding." In the comments section, fellow Redditors weighed in. Many described the bride's behavior as "tacky" and "rude." Some even suggested that the bride treated the first wedding like a "gift grab." "You have every right to feel slighted and dismissed," one reader wrote. "This person hosted an elaborate gift grab from her 'lesser than' friends. Even friends should be in quotes because she couldn't even be honest with you about the second wedding." Sympathizing with the OP's position, another commenter said, "That is not a real friend. Personally, I would cut this person off after this, especially since you 'don't fit in' to her standards." Still, others tried to give the bride the benefit of the doubt, suggesting there may have been practical reasons why she had two weddings with different guest lists. One user cautioned the OP to "get more context [about the situation] before assuming the worst." Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. "Weddings are expensive. And each guest costs the bride and groom $$$$, especially at a nice venue," they wrote. "I bet the other wedding was for family and a few select friends. And how they choose those select friends likely has a lot of factors." The same person continued: "But they wanted 40 other people they care about to share in their union as well! It's possible (even if it was a faux pas) that the bride didn't know how to communicate the two weddings info because people might take it wrong — like is happening here. Context is key, and honestly the most important thing is you were invited to celebrate their union and did so." Read the original article on People Solve the daily Crossword

Instant noodle giant Nongshim to launch 'KPop Demon Hunters' products
SEOUL, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Nongshim, South Korea's largest instant noodle maker, will release a line of products featuring characters from the Netflix hit animated movie KPop Demon Hunters later this month. Packaging for the company's popular Shin Ramyun instant noodles and Shrimp Crackers snacks will showcase images of characters from the film, including Rumi, Zoey, Saja Boys and Derpy the tiger, the company said Wednesday. Nongshim will also launch a new Shin Toomba Sauce and special cup noodles modeled after the snacks eaten by the fictional K-pop group Huntrix in the movie. The company will promote the collaboration through a series of global events, including social media campaigns, digital content and offline pop-ups. "KPop Demon Hunters' realistic depiction of various Korean cultures, including K-Pop and K-Food, went viral and is creating a global fandom," the company said in a statement. "The frequent appearance of ramyun, a quintessentially Korean food, naturally drew attention to Nongshim." The animated film, which centers on a K-pop trio who secretly battle demons, has been a massive hit for Netflix since its release in June. As of last week, it has become the second-most-watched film of all time on the streaming service, with more than 210 million views. The Kpop Demon Hunters soundtrack has also crossed over onto the global music charts, with the single "Golden" by Huntrix topping the Billboard Hot 100 list for the week of Aug. 16. Nongshim said that the partnership was sparked by the film's realistic depiction of Korean ramyun and snacks, which many fans said resembled the company's products. "This collaboration was possible thanks to fans who identified our products in Kpop Demon Hunters and shared their excitement," a spokesperson said. "Just as KPop Demon Hunters introduced K-culture to the world, we will also work to genuinely inform global consumers of the taste and value of K-snacks." The limited-edition products will be available in South Korea and major markets across North America, Europe, Oceania and Southeast Asia.
