Rapper Kid Cudi says his car was set on fire weeks after Sean Combs broke into his home

The Journal22-05-2025

RAPPER KID CUDI claimed that Sean 'Diddy' Combs broke into his Hollywood Hills home in 2011 after finding out he was dating Combs's ex-girlfriend, the R&B singer Cassie, and that someone set fire to his car weeks later.
Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, took the witness box in Combs's sex trafficking trial in New York and said he and Cassie briefly dated in 2011.
He said he took her to a West Hollywood hotel one day to get her away from the seething Combs.
While there, he said, he got a call from Combs's assistant, Capricorn Clark, who told him Combs and an affiliate were in his house and that she had been forced to go with them.
Cudi said he left the hotel to drive home, and that he called Combs en route and — using an expletive — asked him why he was in his house.
He said Combs calmly replied: 'I want to talk to you.'
But Combs wasn't there when he arrived, Cudi said.
Instead, he found that someone had opened Christmas presents he'd bought for his family and locked his dog in a bathroom.
Cudi said he wasn't sure what was going on, so he called the police.
A few weeks later, Cudi said his Porsche was destroyed by fire while parked in his driveway.
Cudi said he was at a friend's house when his dog sitter called and 'told me my car was on fire'.
Photos shown to the jury showed a hole cut in the car's fabric roof and a Molotov cocktail was found in the passenger seat.

Cassie testified last week that Combs had threatened to blow up Cudi's car and hurt him after he learned she was dating the Grammy Award-winning rapper, who is known for his alternative hip-hop style.

Combs, 55, has pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking and racketeering charges lodged against him after he was arrested in September at a Manhattan hotel.
He denies allegations that he used threats and his powerful position in the hip-hop world to abuse women and others, and force Cassie to take part in drug-fuelled sexual performances, called 'freak-offs', with other men that she said left her too drained to pursue her singing career.
The federal investigation of Combs began in November 2023, a day after Cassie sued him in Manhattan federal court, alleging years of sexual and physical abuse.
The lawsuit was settled by Combs for 20 million dollars the next day.
In four days of evidence last week, Cassie, whose legal name is Casandra Ventura, said Combs subjected her to abuse through most of the nearly 11 years she was with him from 2007 through 2018.
She said she developed a relationship with Cudi in late 2011, which she ended within weeks after Combs learned about it when he looked at her phone during a freak-off — one of hundreds she said she endured over the years.
George Kaplan, Combs's personal assistant from 2013 to 2015, gave evidence earlier on Thursday, saying that he saw Combs be violent with Cassie only once, on a 2015 trip to Las Vegas aboard Combs's private jet.
He said he heard glass breaking behind him and looked over his shoulder to see Combs standing with a whiskey glass in his hand.
'There was tremendous commotion and a scuffle, and then after the glass crashed, Cassie screamed: 'Isn't anybody seeing this?'' Mr Kaplan said, adding that neither he nor any of the security workers or Bad Boy staff on the plane responded to her call for help.
Mr Kaplan said he did not intervene because he did not want to lose his dream job.
He said that a later incident, in which he saw Cassie sitting in a bedroom with a black eye before Combs sent him to pick up anti-inflammatory medicine to treat the injury, and the attack on the plane, led him to quit.
Mr Kaplan also said he saw Combs become violent with another girlfriend, whom he referred to only as Gina, when the rapper threw green apples at her at his Florida home.

‘Spineless' – Meg Nicholls' verdict on Philip Byrnes' infamous fall as dad Charles breaks silence after horse is sold

BRAVE Meg Nicholls was praised by punters for giving her no-holds-barred verdict on Philip Byrnes' infamous Wexford fall. The jockey's 'soft' unseat at the last when clear on Redwood Queen has sparked an Advertisement Statement issued as officials launch probe into jockey's final-flight fall on leading horse who drifted in market The mare, who has since been sold to a new trainer having belonged to Philip's brother Cathal, was a huge drifter in the betting before the off. New footage has emerged of the flashpoint, which saw Philip, whose dad Charles trained the horse, fall to his knees after the horse successfully jumped the last. Nicholls was involved in a discussion with Sun Racing's Matt Chapman and former Grand National-winning rider Mick Fitzgerald last weekend. And Meg, daughter of iconic trainer Paul, didn't hold back when giving her opinion of what happened. Advertisement Quizzed by Fitzgerald: "So come on then, what are you saying, that he jumped off?" Meg without hesitation hit back: "I think it looks like it. "Watching that it looks as if he is preparing… his knee is out already. He is pushing himself out the left hand side. "It looks as if he is trying to come off." Advertisement Most read in Horse Racing Nicholls' analysis was lauded as 'superb' by ITV viewers - but some disagreed with Fitzgerald. One took exception to his 'spineless' verdict of the incident, while others thought he offered valuable insight into what the jockey was trying to do. Either way, as Byrnes senior finally broke his silence on the incident and used the opportunity to hit out at those doubting his son. Advertisement He said: "It's obvious what happened. "He was trying to get the mare to go in and pop it, because obviously she had the race won, and she came up out of his hands and blew him out of the saddle. "There's no one hurting more than Philip about it." All this came as new footage of the fall was shared online. Advertisement The camera, looking down towards the post from the track, focused in on how Byrnes' feet left their irons. Viewing it on Racing TV on Sunday morning, former jockey Adam McNamara conceded it 'looks really bad'. He said: "I'm going to be pro-jockey by nature and perhaps it's naive of me, but I want to believe it was an unseat. "If it was something more sinister why wait until last to do it? Advertisement "It looks really bad - I think it's a really bad bit of riding. "The jockey will say he should never have fallen off that." Stewards originally decided on the day that no further action would be taken over the incident. But it was only after a social media outcry that the IHRB confirmed it was being looked into. Man who fired shots in Carlow shopping centre before he died was on bail for firearm offences

THE MAN AT the centre of the Fairgreen Shopping Centre shooting incident in Carlow last night was on bail for serious firearms offences. The man in his early 20s was before the courts last year when he was charged with offences associated with an assault rifle he bought on the dark web. The Heckler and Koch G3 rifle was seized along with a Remington M1911 handgun and multiple types of ammunition. He had since been charged with possession of other guns and with ammunition possession. He was arrested last year in Co Kildare by specialist gardaí from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, who were assisted by armed officers from the Emergency Response Unit. Advertisement He was set to hear a date for his trial, having appeared before court again last month. Sources have said that he went to the shopping centre armed on Sunday evening at around 6.15pm and fired a number of shots. It is believed that he was killed by his own firearm. The firearm found in Carlow yesterday is believed by gardaí to have been legally held. An Irish Defence Forces soldier (face blurred) at the scene in Carlow with a bomb disposal robot. At the scene in Carlow, an EOD team assisted gardaí to search the man's remains because he had a bottle shaped object strapped to his body. That examination was ongoing last night. A garda spokesman confirmed a young girl received minor injuries in the incident but it is not known how she was injured. Eight injured in firebomb attack on Colorado rally for Israeli hostages

EIGHT PEOPLE WERE injured in the US state of Colorado yesterday when a man used a makeshift flamethrower to attack demonstrators as they demanded the release of Israeli hostages held in Gaza. The FBI called the assault a 'targeted terror attack,' identifying the suspected perpetrator, who has been taken into custody, as 45-year-old Mohamed Sabry Soliman, but providing no further details about him. The White House deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller, posted on X that the man was a foreign national who 'illegally overstayed (his) visa.' We are aware of and fully investigating a targeted terror attack in Boulder, Colorado. Our agents and local law enforcement are on the scene already, and we will share updates as more information becomes available. @FBI — FBI Director Kash Patel (@FBIDirectorKash) June 1, 2025 Police in the city of Boulder were cautious in presuming a possible motive for the attack, which multiple sources said was committed against Jews during a peaceful gathering. The Anti-Defamation League, a Jewish activist group, said on X that the attack occurred at Sunday's 'Boulder Run for Their Lives' event, a weekly gathering of the Jewish community in support of the hostages seized during Hamas's attack on Israel on 7 October 2023. 'This attack happened at a regularly scheduled weekly peaceful event,' FBI agent Mark Michalek confirmed to reporters. 'Witnesses are reporting that the subject used a makeshift flamethrower and threw an incendiary into the crowd,' he said, adding that 'the suspect was heard to yell: 'Free Palestine!' Molotov cocktails In one video apparently of the attack, a shirtless man holding clear bottles in his hands is seen pacing as the grass in front of him burns. He can be heard screaming 'End Zionists!' and 'They are killers!' towards several people in red t-shirts as they tend to a person lying on the ground. Other images showed billowing black smoke. The eight people injured were aged between 52 and 88, and had all be transported to local hospitals, Michalek said. Boulder Police Chief Steve Redfearn told reporters that 'at least one victim was very seriously injured, probably safe to say critical condition.' Advertisement The suspected perpetrator had also been injured before being taken into custody, Redfearn said. He hailed the bravery of the responding officers, who 'immediately ran into a chaotic situation where a man was throwing Molotov cocktails and using other devices to hurt people.' Asked if it was a terror attack against the protesters, Redfearn insisted it was 'way too early to speculate motive' behind the violence, which took place shortly before 1:30 pm (19:30 Irish time). There had initially been reports of a possible second perpetrator, but Redfearn stressed that 'at this point, we do not believe that there is an additional suspect at large.' 'We're fairly confident we have the lone suspect in custody.' FBI chief Kash Patel immediately described Sunday's incident as 'a targeted terror attack,' while Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser labeled it 'a hate crime.' 'People may have differing views about world events and the Israeli-Hamas conflict, but violence is never the answer to settling differences. Hate has no place in Colorado,' Weiser said. The White House said President Donald Trump has been briefed on the incident. 'Antisemitic attack' US Secretary of State Marco Rubio like Patel described the incident as a 'targeted terror attack,' while lawmakers on both sides of the political aisle condemned the attack. 'Tonight, a peaceful demonstration was targeted in a vile, antisemitic act of terror,' top Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer said in a statement. 'Once again, Jews are left reeling from repeated acts of violence and terror'. Several organisations also decried the apparent hate-fueled violence. 'Our community was targeted in a violent, antisemitic attack,' the Israeli-American Council said in a statement. 'This is an attack on all of us – and we will not stay silent.' The Boulder violence comes almost two weeks after the fatal shooting of two Israeli embassy staffers outside a Jewish museum in Washington, where a 31-year-old suspect was taken into custody by police.
