Algerian X accounts share «secret document» claiming Moroccan officers «killed in Israel» [Debunked]

Ya Biladi2 days ago

On June 22, 2025, an Algerian propaganda account called Algeria Gate on X (formerly Twitter) shared an image claiming to be a «secret» diplomatic telegram from Morocco's liaison office in Tel Aviv. The message alleges that two Moroccan officers were killed and a third seriously wounded in an Iranian bombing of an Israeli military base in northern Israel known as «Meron».
The post also claims these Moroccan soldiers were involved in joint operations with the Israeli military, specifically in intelligence work tied to Unit 8200, Israel's cyber warfare unit.
According to Algeria Gate, this Moroccan military presence is part of a covert security agreement formed after the Abraham Accords in 2020, accusing Morocco of aligning itself militarily with Israeli interests in the region.
A Clear Fake
There are several obvious errors and inconsistencies that seriously call the document's authenticity into question. Moroccan officials have not confirmed or commented on it:
The document shows a red «SECRET» stamp beneath the typed text, something official documents never do. These stamps are always manually applied after printing to ensure they're clearly visible and genuine. This alone proves the document is fake.
The font and formatting don't match Moroccan diplomatic styles, which have strict rules about headers, stamps, and signatures.
No official source, credible media outlet, or independent organization has reported any Iranian strike on the Meron base or casualties among Moroccan officers.
Context: Propaganda War Between Morocco and Algeria
This misinformation comes amid rising tensions and a fierce propaganda war between Moroccan and Algerian accounts on social media:
Just days before this, Moroccan accounts on X spread unconfirmed rumors about Algerian soldiers dying in Iran after Israeli strikes.
This alleged «telegram» from Algeria appears to be a retaliatory disinformation tactic, accusing Morocco of complicity in Israeli military actions.
The Algeria Gate account has a history of spreading false information about Morocco.
Given the lack of evidence, graphic mistakes, and shady source, these claims should be rejected outright.

Morocco and France Sign Joint Security Action Plan, Hammouchi Receives Legion of Honor

Marrakech – Morocco's Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), Abdellatif Hammouchi, signed a joint action plan with his French counterpart Louis Laugier on Tuesday in Rabat. The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation between Morocco's security services and France's National Police in combating transnational organized crime. The signing took place during Laugier's official visit to Morocco, where he was accompanied by the French Ambassador to Rabat, Christophe Lecourtier, and a high-level security delegation including several directors from French National Police central directorates. According to a statement from the DGSN-DGST, this plan 'establishes a common roadmap in the field of combating transnational organized crime between the two brotherly countries.' The agreement is vital as it materializes the exceptional cooperation mechanisms that have existed for decades between Rabat and Paris' security services. The plan aims to develop and expand areas of cooperation, including the possibility of creating joint working groups to address various challenges related to organized crime. This includes tracking fugitives and internationally wanted persons. The agreement also opens promising prospects for security cooperation and mutual assistance between police services on both sides of the Mediterranean. It specifically focuses on training, information exchange, technical assistance, and operational cooperation. During the meeting, the French National Police Director General expressed his deep gratitude for the role played by Morocco's security services in supporting French security efforts. He notably pointed to Morocco's assistance in combating terrorist threats, pursuing and arresting individuals wanted by the French judiciary in organized crime cases, and securing the Olympic Games held in Paris. Laugier also expressed France's willingness to provide all possible support to assist Moroccan police with security protocols for international sporting events, as Morocco is just months away from hosting AFCON 2025 and preparing for the 2030 World Cup. Hammouchi receives France's highest honor As part of the visit, French Ambassador Christophe Lecourtier presented Hammouchi with the medal and certificate of the Legion of Honor with the rank of Officer, awarded by French authorities. As part of the visit, French Ambassador Christophe Lecourtier presented Hammouchi with the medal and certificate of the Legion of Honor with the rank of Officer, awarded by French authorities. The French delegation stressed that awarding Hammouchi France's highest honor recognizes the leading role of Morocco's security services in international efforts to combat terrorism and organized crime. This recognition comes just weeks after Interpol elected Morocco as Vice Chair of Interpol's Global Cybercrime Expert Group in early June. A significant majority of Interpol members also cast votes for Morocco to take on the role of Vice-President of Interpol for Africa during the 92nd Interpol General Assembly held in Glasgow last November. Interpol President Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi recently commended Morocco's security efforts during his visit to El Jadida in May, describing the country's security system as 'advanced, efficient, professional, and committed to respecting human rights.' Morocco is set to host the 93rd Interpol General Assembly in Marrakech later this year, having received the Interpol flag from Glasgow as the official handover. The intensive talks between Hammouchi and his French counterpart focused on evaluating bilateral cooperation in the security field and reviewing various issues of common interest. They also discussed new mechanisms to enhance mutual assistance between the two parties to ensure the highest levels of readiness in neutralizing various security risks and threats. This cooperation falls within the broader context of the strategic partnership King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron launched in October 2024. Just a day earlier, on Monday, Hammouchi noted DGSN's commitment to supporting efforts against crimes affecting forest resources. Speaking at a study day in Kenitra, he addressed the importance of using modern scientific and technological means in criminal investigations and strengthening personnel capabilities through specialized training programs. Trump Blasts Israel for Violating Ceasefire

Rabat – Just hours after Iran launched retaliatory strikes on US military bases in Iraq and Qatar on Monday, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a 'complete and total' ceasefire on his platform Truth Social — a claim that immediately sowed confusion about the actual state of affairs. An Iranian official swiftly denied that Iran had received any such proposal, insisting there was no reason to halt retaliatory action against the US and Israel. 'At this very moment, the enemy is committing aggression against Iran, and Iran is on the verge of intensifying its retaliatory strikes, with no ear to listen to the lies of its enemies,' the official told CNN. Ceasefire chaos This position was echoed early Tuesday morning by Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who confirmed that no ceasefire had been agreed on. However, he added that Iran would halt its strikes if Israel stopped its aggression by 4 a.m. Tehran time. While Israel accused Iran of violating the alleged ceasefire, it never paused its own aggression. The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) launched attacks in three waves, continuing until 9 a.m. Tehran time. Iran, for its part, launched 14 missiles at Israeli military sites, with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stating that its final wave of missile fire occurred just minutes before the ceasefire deadline, in retaliation for Israel's deadly strikes. According to Trump's timeline, Iran was expected to observe the ceasefire first — despite its actions being a direct response to Israel's aggression, which ignited the war in the first place. The IOF later claimed that two Iranian missiles were launched mid-Tuesday morning — both reportedly intercepted — causing air raid sirens to sound two hours and a half after Trump's ceasefire announcement. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz then declared that he had ordered the IOF to 'respond forcefully' to what he claimed was a violation by Iran — an accusation Tehran flatly denied. 'In light of Iran's blatant violation of the ceasefire declared by the President of the United States – through the launch of missiles toward Israel – and in accordance with the Israeli government's policy to respond forcefully to any breach, I have instructed the IDF […] to continue high-intensity operations targeting regime assets and terror infrastructure in Tehran,' said Katz well after Israel said it agreed to Trump's proposal. A slap on Israel's wrist In response, Trump blamed both countries for breaking the ceasefire but expressed particular anger toward Israel, instructing it to 'stop dropping bombs' and ordering its pilots to return home. 'Israel, as soon as we made the deal, they came out and they dropped a load of bombs the likes of which I've never seen before,' said a visibly furious Trump to reporters before boarding his helicopter en route to the NATO summit in The Netherlands. 'You know, when I say you have 12 hours, you don't just go in the first hours and say you're going to drop everything you have on them,' he added. Trump also took to Truth social to reprimand Israel: 'ISRAEL. DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!' he wrote in all caps. Al Jazeera analyst Ali Hashem highlighted the shift in tone, noting that Trump's framing — treating Iran and Israel on equal footing — could resonate in Tehran and lend credibility to the ceasefire. 'It might give the impression that Trump is serious about this ceasefire,' Hashem said, questioning whether it might open the door to genuine diplomatic efforts between the two sides. 'You cease, we fire' As both Iran and Israel continue trading accusations, few believe this ceasefire — if it can be called that — will result in any concrete change. As many observers pointed out in Israeli doctrine, the word 'ceasefire' often translates to: 'you cease, we fire.' Israeli security officials claimed earlier on Monday that Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is the main obstacle to any settlements and renewed their threats to assassinate him – doing away with any pretense of sincerity to uphold truce. Although this blatant disregard for ceasefire terms may come as a 'shock' for Trump, the reality is that this immoral act is nothing new for Israel. Netanyahu's colonial state has violated its ceasefire with Lebanon over 1,000 times — a record of impunity that is largely ignored by international media institutions. Just yesterday, Israel bombed multiple areas in southern Lebanon, including the villages of Zrariyeh, Kfar Milki, and Ansar. Its record in Gaza is no different. Even before it resumed its openly genocidal campaign on March 18, Israel had already violated its January 20 ceasefire agreement with Hamas nearly 1,000 times. A desert for aid Though bombardments continue, most Palestinians in Gaza now face death not only from airstrikes, but while attempting to access food at so-called 'aid centers' that are backed by the US and Israel — not only inefficient but dangerous centers that have replaced trusted institutions like UNRWA. While it was still under a ceasefire agreement, Israel imposed a total humanitarian blockade on March 2, unleashing a deliberate famine on a population already enduring a livestreamed genocide for over a year. By late May, Israel allowed the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) to distribute an abysmal amount of aid. The imposed lack of food and medicine are not the only things annihilating Palestinians. Over 450 Palestinians have been killed by the IOF while trying to access these 'humanitarian' sites — sites that the UN itself has labelled 'death traps' and 'an abomination.' ' Israel's militarized humanitarian assistance mechanism is in contradiction with international standards on aid distribution,' said United Nations' human rights office spokesman Thameen Al-Kheetan on Tuesday. 'The weaponization of food for civilians, in addition to restricting or preventing their access to life-sustaining services, constitutes a war crime.' Meanwhile, the genocide in Gaza continues, largely fading from headlines and public discourse. Ceasefire talks have been shelved. And with public attention drifting, the sense of urgency has also dissipated as the world seems to have accepted Gaza's fate and adapted to Israel's crimes.
