A MAJOR card chain has launched a closing down sale as it shuts more shops.
Clintons closed 38 stores leading to over 300 jobs losses in the previous financial year.

During its latest financial update, the company acknowledged the possibility of additional closures.
One of its branches in Rugby Central is set to close after it recently launched a closing down sale.
While they haven't yet confirmed a date, staff told Warwickshire World that "it could be next April".
Last month its Keighley, West Yorkshire store closed its doors on June 14.
In the run up to the closure, the store offered 20 per cent discounts across items.
Another store in Leamington Spa was offering discounts of up to 50 per cent as part of an "everything must go" sale.
The Warwickshire branch is yet to announce a final closure date.
Two other stores - in Halifax and Andover - shut for good in April.
The closures come even after a financial turnaround that saw it return to profit.
Clintons said that rising costs driven by labour tax hikes and the increasing minimum wage continued to make some of its stores financially unviable.
The popular card shop announced a pre-tax profit of £8 million for the financial year ending 29 June 2024.

It was a notable turnaround from the previous financial year which saw a £5.3 million pre-tax loss.
In March 2024, the company was acquired by Pillarbox Designs.
A statement from Clintons read: "The company has continued to close loss-making stores and the portfolio of retail stores is now down to approximately 170 stores.
"The high street continues to be unpredictable and the company is seeing reduced footfall in the stores year on year.
"The company continues to monitor the performance of the existing estate and to close the poor performing stores, which, whilst impacting on turnover, should improve profitability moving forwards."
Like many businesses, Clintons now faces higher employer national insurance contributions, which have risen from 13.8% to 15%.
Additionally, the threshold at which these contributions must be paid has been lowered from £9,100 to £5,000.
These changes to the tax system were confirmed by the Chancellor in the Autumn Budget last October and came into effect on 1 April.
At the same time, the national minimum wage saw a notable increase, rising to £12.21 per hour. For workers aged 18-20, the minimum wage increased by £1.40 to £10 per hour.
Clintons was first launched back in 1968 - and quickly became a go-to for Brits looking for greetings cards.
At its peak the chain boasted more than 1,000 branches across the country.
This has now dropped to just 163 brick-and-mortar stores.

For Brits, this meant they could be exploring the Brandenburg Gate, the Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie "in just a matter of years", according to Transport Secretary, Heidi Alexander. The secretary added: "This landmark agreement – part of a new treaty the Prime Minister will sign with Chancellor Merz today - has the potential to fundamentally change how millions of people travel between our two countries, offering a faster, more convenient and significantly greener alternative to flying. "A new task force will bring our nations closer together and create new opportunities for tourism, business and cultural exchange, building on a landmark deal we signed earlier this year to explore introducing direct services to Switzerland." The plans are also set to give the UK a big economic boost, with the creation of jobs and strengthened trade links. Alexander added: "This is central to our Plan for Change – breaking down barriers, thinking boldly about the future, and making long-term decisions that better connect Britain to the world. It has not been made clear where the new train service would depart from in London. Currently, St Pancras International is the only London station that provides direct international passenger trains, including ones that connect to Germany - via a change in Brussels. This is due to St Pancras being the terminus for High Speed 1 (HS1) - the only high-speed rail line in the UK that connects to the Channel Tunnel. Currently, St Pancras International is the only London station that provides direct international passenger train services, including those that connect (via a change in Brussels) to Germany. This is because St Pancras is the final station for High Speed 1 (HS1) - the only high-speed rail line in the UK that connects to the Channel Tunnel on the UK side. However, Stratford International and Ebbsfleet International stations both sit on the HS1 line. In theory, both of these places could handle international services. A new high-speed line known as High Speed 2 (HS2) is under construction in the UK. Whilst the line will primarily be used for travel within the UK, such as linking London to the West Midlands, there have been some discussions about a link between HS1 and HS2. If this link were to be built, it could allow for direct international services from other parts of the UK via HS2. New European rail service A NEW European train service, launching next year, will connect Prague, Berlin, and Copenhagen, marking the first direct route between Prague and Copenhagen in a decade. Operated by Czech, German, and Danish rail companies, the service will primarily run twice daily. The journey from Prague to Copenhagen will take around 11hours - a duration expected to decrease with the completion of the Fehmarn Belt Undersea Tunnel. Onboard, passengers can enjoy a dining car, a children's cinema, and improved mobile signal. The ComfortJet trains will also offer space for bikes and be wheelchair accessible. This initiative is one of 10 pilot projects supported by the European Commission to enhance cross-border rail travel. The construction of HS2 is also behind schedule and the Government confirmed in June that the completion of the line would now be delayed beyond the target date of 2033. Plus, a gamechanger new budget train line is to launch from London next year.

The help comes as part of the Government's Household Support Fund, and aims to aid those who are most vulnerable. Each council in England is allocated a portion of the £742 million fund, which it then distributes to residents struggling with the rising cost of living. Eligibility criteria varies based on where you live but usually help is offered to those on benefits or a low income. Thousands of households in Walsall will soon be able to benefit from the scheme, after the local council was allocated a chunk of the fund. In a statement posted on Facebook, the council stated: "This week (week commencing 15 July 2025) we will make a one-off direct payment of £75 per child to families in receipt of Council Tax Reduction. "Families will not need to apply for these payments. "This is to support families over the holiday period. There are a small number of customers without bank accounts who will receive Asda Vouchers over the coming weeks. "Where we do not hold bank details, payments will be posted to Council Tax accounts where customers can then request a refund." What if I don't live in Walsall? The £742million Household Support Fund has been shared between all councils in England. So, if you don't live in Walsall but are struggling financially or are on benefits you will likely be eligible for help. Disability benefit explained - what you can claim This is because the fund was originally set up to help those on low incomes or classed as vulnerable. What type of help you can get will vary but it could range from a free cash payment to supermarket vouchers. It's worth bearing in mind, because the new round of the HSF has only just opened, you might not be able to apply for help yet. However, it's worth keeping an eye on your local council's website or social media channels. Most councils have pages on their websites dedicated to their HSF as well. You might be able to find it by typing in the name of your council then "Household Support Fund" into Google search. You may have to apply for help through the HSF or you may be contacted directly by your council. Some local authorities send letters to your home to let you know about next steps you need to take. Other help if you're on a low income It's worth checking if you're eligible for benefits if you haven't already - it could boost your bank balance by thousands of pounds a year. If you're struggling with the cost of food, check where your nearest food bank is, to help you get cupboard staples for less. The Trussell Trust has hundreds of food banks across the UK, and you can find your nearest one here - Meanwhile, if you have fallen behind on your energy bills, you might be able to get a grant to wipe any debt. British Gas and Octopus Energy, the UK's two biggest energy firms, both run schemes offering customers grants worth up to £2,000.
