The Food Forward Summit will bring stellar line up of global industry experts to the Kingdom
RIYADH – Building on the phenomenal success of its inaugural 2024 edition, the second SaudiFood Manufacturing show is set to return from 13 – 15 April at Riyadh Front Exhibition and Conference Centre. This year's edition will be packed with exhibitors, buyers and international expert speakers as the Kingdom continues to enhance its position as a regional leader in the F&B industry. The event will be held under the patronage of Saudi Arabia's Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, His Excellency Bandar bin Ibrahim AlKhorayef, with the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) as Strategic Partner.
SaudiFood Manufacturing is the first and only dedicated F&B manufacturing event in the Kingdom spanning processing, packaging, ingredients, supply chain solutions, and control and automation, convening the industry to chart a course towards a more sustainable, resilient, agile and efficient future in the Kingdom.
The exhibition will convene over 550 global brands, including industry powerhouses: Allagro, Al Wataniya, Anasia, Azelis, Brenntag, Buhler, FSL, Kanoo, Kaydee, MEPEQ, Multivac, Napco, Novonesis, Provisur, Reda, Sapin, UCIC and many more. Country pavilions exhibiting this year include: France, Netherlands, UK, Turkiye, India, Switzerland, Spain, Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, China and Italy.
The staging of the event comes at a time where Saudi Arabia's food sector is valued at $55 billion, with the growth of food industry companies in Saudi Arabia increasing by more than 31% in recent years. The burgeoning Saudi F&B manufacturing industry continues to reflect strategic growth and importance within the nation's economy. Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) announced plans last year to localise 85 percent of the country's food industry by 2030.
Trixie LohMirmand, CEO of KAOUN International, said: 'SaudiFood Manufacturing has established itself as an industry-leading trade event, garnering interest from leading global production players, and serves as a powerful springboard for the industry to take its place at the heart of Saudi Arabia's burgeoning industry, transforming Saudi Arabia's food processing landscape.'
The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) continues its pivotal role in supporting and empowering the food manufacturing sector through its strategic partnership for the second consecutive year with the Saudi Food Manufacturing Exhibition, the most prominent platform in the Kingdom and the region for showcasing the latest technologies and solutions in this vital sector. This participation is an extension of MODON's efforts to develop the food industries sector, as a strategic pillar for achieving national food security and a major source for boosting non-oil exports. This is in line with the objectives of the National Industrial Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030.
Business solutions with an immediate and measurable impact
For professionals in F&B manufacturing, the SaudiFood Manufacturing Show offers a strategic platform for exhibitors to present their products, services, and solutions to prominent buyers, with opportunities to discover tailored solutions for your business, build new professional relationships, strengthen existing ones, and execute high-value business deals over the three days.
Tony Meghabghab, Founder & CEO of MEPEQ commented 'Saudi Food Manufacturing is MEPEQ's door to engaging and connecting with local and regional manufacturers in the Saudi F&B industry, especially those looking to be key players in the transition to Industry 4.0'.
Strategic insights from an international speaker line-up
Away from the exhibition floor, the Food Forward Summit will also convene over 50 of the global industry's most dynamic and engaging experts, decision-makers and thought leaders, to offer fresh new perspectives, insights and inspiring strategies on the biggest topics facing the industry. Topics will include how AI and cutting-edge innovations can accelerate sustainable food solutions and support Saudi Arabia's ambitions in food security and biotech.

Philippine envoys join ILO in talks to boost Saudi labor market reforms

Philippine Ambassador Raymond Balatbat met with senior officials from the International Labour Organization (ILO) on Aug. 12 to discuss strategies aimed at improving Saudi Arabia's labor market. He was joined by Labor Attaché Atty. Dominador Salanga of the Migrant Workers Office–Riyadh and First Secretary and Consul Dean Jason Arriola. The ILO delegation was led by Deputy Regional Director Peter Rademaker. The talks followed the recent signing of a cooperation agreement between the ILO and the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. Both sides outlined measures to strengthen labor policies in the Kingdom, with a focus on fair recruitment practices, enhanced market data, and improved protection for workers. Filipinos, one of the largest expatriate groups in Saudi Arabia, are seen as a key stakeholder in the initiative. The ILO aims to create a comprehensive baseline of the Saudi labor market to guide future reforms that will benefit both employers and migrant workers. The meeting underscored the Philippines' active role in shaping labor reforms in Saudi Arabia and its commitment to safeguarding the rights and welfare of overseas Filipino workers. Officials expressed optimism that the collaboration would lead to concrete improvements in labor standards across the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia's inflation rate remains stable at 2.1%

Saudi Arabia's annual inflation rate remained relatively stable at 2.1 per cent in July 2025 compared to the same period last year, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. Data from the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed that Consumer Price Index (CPI) was also stable on a monthly basis, with prices across most categories remaining largely unchanged from June to July 2025. The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) remained stable at 2.1 per cent July, while recording a slight monthly decline of 0.1 per cent compared to June. The CPI measures changes in the prices paid by consumers for a fixed basket of 490 goods and services, while the WPI tracks changes in pre-retail prices for a fixed basket of 343 items. Meanwhile Saudi Arabia's real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 3.9 per cent in the second quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), flash estimates of GDP for Q2 2025, released today by the General Authority for Statistics in Saudi Arabia, showed that non-oil activities recorded the highest growth at 4.7 per cent, followed by oil activities at 3.8 per cent and government activities at 0.6 per cent. Seasonally adjusted real GDP rose by 2.1 per cent in second quarter compared to the first quarter, with oil activities leading the growth at 5.6 per cent, non-oil activities increasing by 1.6 per cent, while government activities declined by 0.8 per cent. The Saudi's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the first quarter of 2025, revealed a 3.4 per cent growth compared to the same quarter in 2024. This growth was driven by a 4.9 per cent increase in non-oil activities and a 3.2 per cent rise in government activities. Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that oil activities recorded a 0.5 per cent decline. Meanwhile, on a seasonally adjusted basis, real GDP increased by 1.1 per cent compared to the fourth quarter of 2024. WAM

Saudi Arabia's non-oil economy powers ahead amid cooling inflation

Saudi Arabia's non-oil economy is expected to grow by 4.5 per cent this year, contributing to a projected headline GDP growth rate of 3.7 per cent, according to Emirates NBD's latest economic update. The upbeat outlook is underpinned by strong consumer spending and easing inflationary pressures, which are helping to sustain momentum across key sectors. Consumer activity remains robust, with spending — measured through cash withdrawals, point-of-sale transactions, and e-commerce — rising 8.8 per cent year-on-year in June. The first half of 2025 saw average annual growth in consumer spending reach 9.4 per cent, well above the inflation rate, indicating solid real gains. Private final consumption rose 4.5 per cent in the first quarter, while wholesale and retail trade, restaurants, and hotels posted an impressive 8.4 per cent growth. The moderation in inflation has played a key role in supporting household consumption. Headline consumer price inflation (CPI) slowed to 2.1 per cent year-on-year in July, down from 2.3 per cent in June, marking the lowest annual pace since February. Prices remained flat on a monthly basis, compared to a 0.2 per cent increase the previous month. Emirates NBD forecasts average inflation for the year at 2.0 per cent, slightly higher than the 1.7 per cent recorded in 2024. Housing and utilities — accounting for just over 20 per cent of the CPI basket — continue to be the main drivers of inflation. However, housing inflation eased to 5.6 per cent in July, down from 6.5 per cent in June, thanks to base effects and government initiatives aimed at increasing housing supply, particularly in Riyadh. This marks the slowest pace of housing inflation since December 2022. Other CPI components showed mixed trends. Food and beverage prices rose 1.6 per cent year-on-year, slightly up from June but below the first-half average of 2.2 per cent. Prices in restaurants and hotels increased by 1.4 per cent, while recreation and culture saw a modest 0.7 per cent rise. Meanwhile, competitive pressures led to price declines in clothing and footwear (down 0.4 per cent) and household furnishings and equipment (down 2.0 per cent). With inflation remaining modest and consumer demand resilient, Saudi Arabia's non-oil sectors are expected to maintain strong performance through the second half of the year, reinforcing the Kingdom's broader economic diversification goals. The full report is available on the Emirates NBD Research website. 'We expect project spending to support non-oil growth in Saudi Arabia, with over $400 million worth of projects already in execution, and with over $1.5bn in the pipeline. Respondents to the Riyad Bank PMI survey for Saudi Arabia have continued to highlight new projects as supporting their businesses and the survey remained indicative of robust activity growth at 56.3 in July,' Daniel Richards, Senior Mena Economist, Emirates NBD, told Khaleej Times. The outlook for the Saudi consumer also remains strong, with robust growth in consumer spending, and only mild inflationary pressures. Unemployment fell to just 2.8 per cent in Q1, from 3.5 per cent in Q4 2024, and the population continues to grow, up 4.7 per cent year on year in the middle of 2024, Richards added. Oil GDP saw year-on-year growth of 3.8 per cent in Q2, a reversal of the 0.5 per cent contraction the previous quarter, as Opec+, and Saudi Arabia in particular, has begun to unwind some of the additional oil production curbs that had been in place previously. The pace by which barrels have been returned to the market has exceeded what had previously been projected by the producers' group, and while we anticipated this, the rate has exceeded even our expectations. For May and June it announced a return of 411,000 barrel to the market, around three times the previously scheduled volume, and this resulted in average Saudi oil production of 9.16 million barrels per day (bpd) in Q2, up from 8.95 million bpd in Q1 and compared with 9.0 million bpd in Q2 2024. 'Q3 will likely see even sharper oil GDP growth given that Opec+ has stepped up the pace of returning barrels to the market even more, with an additional 548,000 bpd announced for August and September. With oil production averaging 8.97 million bpd in H2 2024 according to Bloomberg estimates, the oil GDP growth rate in the second half of the year will be even stronger, and we forecast a full-year pace of 3.5 per cent,' Richards said.
