NHRC flags police lapses in Bhopal love trap, forced conversion racket; seeks action, deeper probe
The racket allegedly involved youths from one community befriending college girls from another, raping them, making obscene videos, and pressuring them for religious conversion and marriage.
In its four-page communication to the state's chief secretary and DGP earlier this week, the NHRC has mentioned, 'Perusal of the facts of the case revealed that the main accused Farhan Khan was in touch with several persons in MP and outside. His criminal network connection with the crime in different states cannot be ruled out. However, the findings of the investigation remain silent on this aspect. Such a network of crime within the state as well as pan-India, if any, needs to be ascertained.'
'There is a need for more rigorous investigation to find out the possible network of crime inside the state as well as pan-India to protect the children and teenage girls from sexual exploitation and the pattern of dominant gender crime of trafficking,' the NHRC wrote in the communication.
The human rights body further highlighted there being no doubt regarding the relationship between the main accused, Farhan and one Shariq Machli, particularly as Machli appears to be involved with the prime accused in this entire case. Importantly, the man Sharif Machli, is a Bhopal-based businessman, who is believed to have powerful political links.

Execution of RRC: HC summons Bhopal collector in contempt case
Bhopal/Jabalpur: The MP high court has summoned Bhopal collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh on August 25 in connection with a contempt petition filed over non-compliance of the court order to execute the revenue recovery certificate (RRC)for recovery of Rs 70 lakh from a builder issued by Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA). Bhanu Pratap Singh from Gwalior in his contempt petition said that he had filed a petition in RERA for recovery from a Bhopal-based builder. RERA decided the case in his favour and issued a RRC of Rs 70 lakh. The RRC was to be executed through collector Bhopal but he didn't execute the RRC. Then, he moved the MP high court seeking direction to collector Bhopal to execute the RRC. The high court disposed of his petition with a direction to collector Bhopal to execute the RRC for recovery of the amount from the builder. However, the RRC has not been executed yet, thus bringing him back to court with a contempt petition. Following initial hearing, the bench of Justice Vishal Mishra directed the Bhopal collector to appear in the court in person to explain the reason for his non-compliance of the court order. Man Kidnaps Infant In Delhi For Relative Seeking Male Child, Arrested
New Delhi: Delhi Police has arrested a man from Khetri in Rajasthan, who kidnapped an infant from central Delhi to hand the child over to a relative seeking a male child in exchange for financial gains, officials said on Thursday. The infant has been rescued safely and reunited with his mother, while the accused, identified as Jitender Kumar (32), has been taken into custody, DCP (Central) Nidhin Valsan said. The incident was reported on August 19 when the child's mother, a resident of Chennai, arrived in Delhi by train with her child to meet a relative. She told police that Kumar befriended her during the journey, spoke to her for nearly two hours, and won her trust. "According to the complaint, the man offered to accompany her to her relative's house. On the way, he stopped at a garment shop, gave her Rs 150, and asked her to buy a dress for the child whom he waited outside. When she came out, the child and the accused were missing," the DCP said. Police scanned nearly 100 CCTV camera footage and used an Artificial Intelligence-based facial recognition system (FRS) to identify the accused. After tracking his movement, Kumar was traced to his native village in Rajasthan's Khetri with the help of local police, the DCP said. Accordingly, a police team arrested Kumar from Khetri and rescued the child, he added. During interrogation, Kumar disclosed that one of his relatives, who did not have a male child, asked him to arrange for a baby boy in return for money, the officer added.

The US Department of State announced sanctions on two China-based crude oil and petroleum product terminal operators that helped import millions of barrels of illicit Iranian oil on multiple US-designated tankers. This marks the fourth round of sanctions targeting Chinese operators in Iran's oil trade network.'These terminal operators play a vital role in the trade network for Iranian crude oil that funds Iran's terrorism abroad and destabilises the region,' a Department of State spokesperson the Department of the Treasury targeted Greek national Antonios Margaritis, his network of companies, and nearly a dozen vessels linked to Iran's shadow fleet. Margaritis has reportedly used his extensive experience in shipping to facilitate the illicit sale and transport of Iranian petroleum. 'Today's action against Margaritis and his network degrades Tehran's ability to fund its advanced weapons programs, support terrorist groups, and threaten the safety of our troops and our allies,' Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said. 'Under the leadership of President Trump, Treasury remains determined to hold accountable all those who seek to aid the Iranian regime and threaten global security.'The sanctions are being imposed under Executive Order 13902 and are part of a broader campaign launched under National Security Presidential Memorandum 2 (NSPM-2), aimed at maximising economic pressure on the Iranian regime.- EndsMust Watch
