ITV Coronation Street star left 'medically dehydrated' on final day after heartbreaking exit

Daily Record21-04-2025

Coronation Street star Charlotte Jordan has shared her final scenes as Daisy Midgeley are set to air next week, revealing the emotional toll her heartbreaking exit had on her.
Coronation Street's Charlotte Jordan, who plays Daisy Midgeley, was left in tears for four hours on her last day of filming. The 29-year-old actress wasn't the only one shedding tears; her imminent departure had her co-stars crying throughout the day.
Her continuous crying resulted in her being "dry as a bone" during her final scene.

After almost five years playing Daisy, she will be leaving the show in just a few days. Whether she is fleeing or not, there were no dry eyes on set during Charlotte's last day and those 'emotional' final scenes.
She confessed: "I'm not a big crier. But let me tell you, I cried on and off for about four hours straight. My last scene was with the beautiful Rob Mallard, and we were meant to cry in the scene – but we were both dry as a bone.
"As soon as they yelled our final cut, we both burst into tears. Typical."
Her colleagues and co-stars made an extra effort to "make it so special" for her, while also mourning the end of her time on the show, reports the Mirror.
Charlotte Jordan, who has been a familiar face on Coronation Street, shared her emotional last moments on set: "The Corrie gang made it so special for me. The canteen made me my favourite lunch – which made me cry. The art department drew me a beautiful card – which made me cry. I would look over to Channique [Sterling-Brown] or Julia [Goulding] or Sal [Sally Ann Matthews] during our last lunch break and see them crying – which made me cry. I think I was medically dehydrated by the end of the day."

As fans grapple with the news of her departure announced earlier this year, Charlotte has opened up about the reasons behind her leaving and what's in store for her character Daisy as she makes her exit from Weatherfield in upcoming episodes.
She expressed her gratitude for her time on the show, saying: "I'm feeling really grateful for my years on the show and the people I've gotten to work with. Kate [Brooks] has been so supportive about me wanting to go back out into the audition circuit and very generous with Daisy's exit story, as she really wanted to do the character justice."

She also revealed the fun she had with fellow cast members during her final scenes: "And I can't tell you how much fun the other cast members and I had playing out this last hurrah."
However, Charlotte admitted that Daisy's departure is "bittersweet" as the character is "running from her heartache" and will leave "destruction" in her wake.

Charlotte further explained the complexity of Daisy's feelings towards leaving: "I think it's very bittersweet for Daisy. Weatherfield has been her home for a while now and, early on, was giving her all the things she wanted – family, community, stability, people to love more than she perhaps loves herself – but it's also been the source of so much trauma for her. ".
Charlotte stated: "I think we've watched her slowly try to pick up the pieces since her stalking storyline, but she's ultimately realised she doesn't need to stay in a place that's caused her so much heartbreak. And it's just as well she's running far away to the other side of the planet, as she's left a mountain of destruction and angry people in her wake!".

But for those wondering if this is the last we'll see of Daisy, there's a glimmer of hope. Charlotte hinted: "It's a very special building, and I have loved it. And it's just goodbye for now, not goodbye forever."
As for the anticipated happy ending between Daisy and Daniel Osbourne, expect heartbreak instead. Charlotte divulged: "I think they'll both be each other's 'what if' love story. I think we'll all be mourning what could have been."
She continued, revealing Daisy's inner conflict about her actions affecting Jenny and Daniel: "I think she also knows, deep down, that if Daniel were fully aware of what she's about to do to Jenny, he wouldn't be willing to let it slide and continue to stand by her side. So it's almost like she's cutting him loose before she can see how disappointed in her he'll be."
Finally, Charlotte teased intense upcoming scenes leading up to Daisy's departure, with drama and betrayal at the forefront as Daisy's mother Christina targets Jenny: "Daisy knows exactly what her mother is like.
"She keeps giving Christina these chances to step up and be there for her and every time Christina throws it back in her face. She wants to believe Christina can change, but I think she's more mad at herself for continuing to allow Christina to hurt her – when Daisy knows that's all she's ever done. But unfortunately for Christina, you reap what you sow, and no one can manipulate and backstab quite like our Daisy!".

Coronation Street star 'bullied' by classmates for being on ITV soap

Helen Flanagan has become a household name as a result of her Corrie role (Picture:for the NTA's) Coronation Street's Helen Flanagan has opened up about being bullied as a child. The star portrayed the role of Rosie Webster in the ITV soap on and off from 2000 to 2018. The star left the cobbles to go on maternity leave, and hasn't returned since. Due to the fact Helen was a youngster when she joined the show, some of her classmates ended up bullying her as she divided her time between school and the soap. It's this experience that has impacted Helen's decision on choosing a school for her daughter Matilda, who she shares with footballer and ex-partner Scott Sinclair. Helen has three children with her ex Scott Sinclair (Picture: Karwai Tang/WireImage) Helen admitted recently that the bullying she suffered when she was a child got so bad, she ended up moving to a private school for girls. 'Picking a secondary school for my little girl can be quite daunting because I remember I did struggle with a lot of bullying as well in my first school, because I was on Coronation Street. I'm naturally quite a soft person as well, and I did really really get picked on', she told the Daily Star. When Helen moved schools, she ended up doing half of the time due to commitments at the ITV soap. She added: 'I got extra support and I did tutors as well at Corrie. I had to be in education until I was 16 and had to do four hours a week. I think I was the only one who was a bit of a geek out of the Corrie lot. But I actually did quite like it. Helen played Rosie Webster, daughter of Sally and Kevin (Picture: ITV) 'But because I got picked on an awful lot, this is now why as a mum, I worry. My little girl she is a sweetie and soft like me, but you don't want to put your insecurities onto your children.' As a result of becoming a household name through the soap, Helen is often asked about whether she'd ever reprise her role. After previously admitting that she wouldn't go back due to her children being young, Helen now feels she's at a point where she'd be able to juggle motherhood with the busy life at the soap. Helen also touched on how she believes Rosie is an important character to have on our screens, saying 'they do need me. They do need Rosie.' Corrie arrest in early ITVX streaming release as legend taken to the station

The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Coronation Street that hasn't aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX. Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) has been arrested in Coronation Street. The popular character spent the afternoon at the Platt house in tonight's episode, as David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) decided to organise a family BBQ. Also in attendance was Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien), Shona Platt (Julia Goulding), Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and his partner Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor). Earlier on in the episode, Shona had popped into the salon to see Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls). She was busy cashing up, and said she wasn't coming to the BBQ as she had other plans. Listening in on the conversation between Shona and Audrey was Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty). Ever since Mick (Joe Layton) was arrested for killing Craig Tinker (Colson Smith), Lou has found herself isolated from the rest of the Weatherfield community. After hearing that Shona would take the salon money back home for David to take to the bank, Lou realised that she had left her phone. An idea forming, Lou then needed to get someone else to look after her two daughters, so she could go to the Platts. Lou ended up asking Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine). He's previously kept an eye on Joanie and Shanice, and eventually agreed because he knew it would be good practice for him and Sally (Sally Dynevor), who are hoping to become foster parents. With that, Lou headed to the Platts with Shona's phone. She was invited in and sat down with the clan, but was regularly given dirty looks by Maria. Lou found a moment to sneak off, but it was spotted by her enemy Maria. In the lounge, the two women ended up arguing over Lou planning on stealing the salon cash. More Trending Moments later, the residents in the garden heard a huge smash. Rushing inside, they found Lou in the middle of the coffee table after falling through it. ITV This Morning tribute to guest feared dead after Air India plane tragedy

Fiongal Greenlaw, 39, and his husband Jamie Meek, 45, are feared to be among the passengers and crew on the Air India flight that crashed Former This Morning editor Martin Frizell has paid tribute to guest Fiongal Greenlaw and his husband Jamie Meek, believed to have perished in the Air India crash. The tragic incident occurred yesterday (June 12), and the couple were among those en-route to London's Gatwick Airport from India. ‌ The couple had been on holiday when the disaster struck their flight shortly after take-off. They were known not only for their travels but also as co-founders of a wellness brand that had been featured on This Morning, reports the Mirror. ‌ Martin, 66, took to Instagram to share his sentiments, posting an image of Fiongal alongside hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley from when they appeared on the show. He reminisced about Fiongal's appearance in January, noting his "vibrancy" and "sheer enthusiasm". His caption read: "So so sad to hear that Fiongal Greenlaw Meek and his partner are reported to be among the passengers and crew killed today on board the Air India flight bound for Gatwick. I remember his visit to the studio in January, he was passionate about auras and although I'm a sceptical sort his vibrancy and sheer enthusiasm won folk over." Adding further to his emotional message, Martin said: "And I know for a fact that he hoped to use his appearance on This Morning to build his Wellness brand, he had a great future ahead of him. Thoughts are with his family and friends and those of his partner Jamie." Amongst those reacting to Martin's poignant post was Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid. TV regular Lisa Snowdon, also familiar with the programme, expressed her sorrow in the comments with a tearful emoji followed by one of a broken heart. Fiongal graced This Morning as a guest back in January, giving hosts Ben and Cat insight into their auras during that episode. At that time, Martin was still at the helm as editor, before leaving in February. ‌ Post-Martin's exit, Fiongal made another appearance on the show, this time serving as spiritual advisor in April, joining Ben, Cat, and Josie Gibson in the London-based television studio. The couple had uploaded a video from Ahmedabad airport just before they boarded the ill-fated flight. During their trip to India, Fiongal and Jamie shared a cheerful video from the airport, beaming as they prepared to jet back home. Their lighthearted exchange during the video saw them reflecting on their adventures abroad. ‌ In the footage, Fiongal can be heard stating: "We are at the airport just boarding. Goodbye India. Ten-hour flight back to England. What was your biggest takeaway Jamie?" to which Jamie quips: "I don't know." This sparks laughter from Fiongal, who jibes at his partner: "Thanks for your contribution." Fiongal playfully remarks that he's learned "don't lose your patience with your partner", before Jamie retorts: "You snapped at me at the airport for having chai." Amidst their fellow passengers, the video concludes with Fiongal declaring his return to the UK is "happily, happily calm".
