During its eight-season run from 2011 to 2019, Game of Thrones received 164 Emmy nominations and won 59 awards, making it the most successful drama series at the Emmys by that measure.
Every season of Game of Thrones was nominated for "Outstanding Drama Series", winning the award four times. House of the Dragon Season 1 continued the series' presence at the Emmys with eight nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series.
However, Season 2's absence marks the first time a Game of Thrones-related series has not been nominated in this category.
The Outstanding Drama Series nominees for this year include Andor, The Diplomat, The Last of Us, Paradise, The Pitt, Severance, Slow Horses, and The White Lotus.
Season 1 of House of the Dragon aired in 2022, with Season 2 following two years later. Season 3 is expected to arrive in 2026, while the next Game of Thrones spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, is also set to premiere in 2026.
