Jason Momoa's shocking beard shave stuns fans ahead of Dune 3
The Aquaman actor shaved off his facial hair for his return as Duncan Idaho in Dune: Part Three. Sharing the moment on Instagram, Momoa buzzed away his signature scruff on July 30, joking, 'Goddammit, I hate it.' He called the drastic change a 'kickoff' to the next chapter of his career and added a special shoutout to director Denis Villeneuve: 'Only for you.'
Momoa, 45, sat out Dune: Part Two in 2024 but will now reprise his role in the sci-fi franchise. He won't be the only Momoa on set either—his 16-year-old son, Nakoa-Wolf, has officially joined the cast as Leto II, the son of Paul Atreides (played by Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya).
Speaking to Extra, Jason shared how proud he is of his son's first professional acting job: 'A rude awakening is what he's in for… He's into the workforce for the first time. It's going to be good.'
The Game of Thrones alum reflected on Nakoa-Wolf's independence, saying, 'You want your children to be better than you, and I believe he is.'
Momoa is also dad to 18-year-old Lola and says spending time with his kids remains his top priority, even as they grow older and busier.

Jason Momoa turned 46 on August 1, and his girlfriend, actress Adria Arjona, marked the occasion with a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. Arjona, 33, shared a romantic message along with a series of photos capturing the couple enjoying time together — riding motorcycles, walking in nature, and embracing on the beach. "Happy birthday mi amor," Arjona wrote. "There's nothing I love more than doing life by your side. So here's to one more year of being wild and free and to forever growing young. Love you so much babii." The Hit Man star also praised Momoa's latest project, the Apple TV+ historical drama Chief of War, which premiered the same day. "Excited for the world to watch what you've poured your heart and soul into for the past years," she added. Fans responded warmly to the post, calling the couple 'beautiful' and praising their chemistry. Momoa himself commented, 'Te amo mi amor. Luckiest man alive.' The couple made their relationship public in May 2024 when Momoa shared photos of them together during a trip to Japan. Since then, they've frequently appeared in affectionate posts on social media. Chief of War, a nine-part series starring and co-created by Momoa, focuses on true events in Polynesian history and features a predominantly Polynesian cast. The first two episodes are now streaming, with new episodes released weekly. Adding to the buzz, Momoa recently shaved his iconic beard for the first time in over six years, ahead of filming Dune: Part Three. In a video shared online, he dedicated the transformation to director Denis Villeneuve. Momoa was previously married to actress Lisa Bonet, with whom he shares two children. Bonet filed for divorce in early 2024, officially ending their marriage.

Sofia Carson & Corey Mylchreest talk My Oxford Year, filming romance in Oxford
In a recent interview on Extra, Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest opened up about starring in My Oxford Year, Netflix's new romantic comedy premiering August 1, 2025. The film explores a summer at Oxford University, where Carson plays Anna De La Vega, an ambitious American student, and Mylchreest portrays Jamie Davenport, whose poetic outlook transforms her experience. Carson, also serving as co‑producer, described filming cherished scenes on historic Oxford bridges and libraries, highlighting the authenticity of location work. She called one memorable kiss scene 'cold and wet' and joked it was 'more soggy than sexy.' Mylchreest reflected on drawing from personal inspiration: 'I have a friend who studied at Oxford and I'd take the train there frequently, and we captured that feeling in the film.' The story, adapted from Julia Whelan's novel, blends literature, poetry, and first love amid the backdrop of Oxford's architecture. Carson emphasized the emotional weight and realism infused in the narrative. Organically filmed across iconic locations such as Magdalen College and Windsor, the production leans into realism, aiming to immerse viewers rather than rely on soundstage sets. The film's promotion continues with interviews on platforms including CBS Mornings and ABC News Live, where the leads discussed the depth of their characters and the emotional resonance of the project. My Oxford Year joins Netflix's expanding slate of romantic features and marks another starring vehicle for Carson, reinforcing her growing profile in English-language streaming cinema.

Superman is 2025's top superhero movie, giving DC's Supergirl a major box office boost
James Gunn's Superman has become 2025's highest-grossing superhero movie, a major win for DC Studios and a promising boost for the DCU's next big release—Supergirl. According to Box Office Mojo, Superman has earned $510.8 million globally so far, outperforming all of Marvel's 2025 entries, including Captain America: Brave New World ($415.1M), Thunderbolts ($382.3M), and The Fantastic Four: First Steps ($241.3M and still in theaters). Superman, starring David Corenswet, serves as the official launch of the DCU's Chapter One. Its impressive box office performance is critical not only for franchise momentum but also for upcoming projects tied to this universe. One major beneficiary is Supergirl, set for a 2026 release. Milly Alcock's Supergirl made a surprise cameo in Superman, revealing her as the owner of Krypto and teasing her solo storyline. This early introduction has sparked strong interest in her character, making her the most connected DCU hero after Superman. Adding further firepower to Supergirl's box office potential is Jason Momoa, who joins the cast as Lobo, a fan-favorite bounty hunter. Momoa's proven track record includes Aquaman ($1.15B) and Minecraft ($955.1M), establishing him as a reliable box office draw. With Superman soaring above expectations, Supergirl is now well-positioned to ride that momentum. Between Alcock's debut, strong franchise connections, and Momoa's star power, Supergirl could become the next major hit for the revitalized DCU.
