Jack Osbourne admits he and his sister Aimee are 'not close at all' as he addresses her decision not to appear on The Osbournes. The pioneering reality TV show followed rocker Ozzy Osbourne and his family for four series.
While Jack, 39, and his sister Kelly, 40, starred in the MTV hit, 41-year-old Aimee opted not to appear at all. Aimee reportedly feared she would be seen as 'riding on the coat-tails' of her family as she tried to make a name in the music industry.
Speaking on the Disrespectfully podcast, Jack said: 'Back then she really wanted to be a musician and the kind of musician she wanted to be was like a Fiona Apple, Mazzy Star, like this kind of obscure, mysterious, moody…and she deemed doing a show on MTV as low-hanging fruit. She was like, 'I'm not going to be seen riding coat-tails,' kind of thing, that's how she perceived it.
'Once the show was hugely successful I think she was kind of like, 'Well I can't now come on because I don't want to be seen even more so as jumping on the bandwagon'. And she dug her heels in and wanted to be relatively private and obscure.'
The Osbournes is said to have paved the way for reality TV shows following famous families. It followed the family as they tackled tough issues such as Sharon's cancer battle and an ATV accident that almost killed Ozzy.
When asked if Aimee regretted not joining the show, Jack replied: 'I've never had the conversation with her, we're not close at all. We don't have a great relationship, she'll be the first to tell you that, so it's no secret.
'I've never asked her outright, 'Do you regret it'. I think there must be a level of like, 'Hey, my life would have probably been different than what it is if I'd done that', so I don't know, I think I would feel like I would have regretted it.'
When quizzed on if he's 'glad' he did the show, Jack replied: 'Absolutely, it was such an interesting thing to be a part of, especially how much media has changed, there's just not that level of excitement around TV anymore like there was back then.'
Aimee was recently spotted with her family as she attended her dad's funeral on Thursday. Rocker Ozzy died aged 76 on July 22, just weeks after his final performance with Black Sabbath.
The family stopped at Black Sabbath bridge in Birmingham to read the messages left by thousands of fans since Ozzy's death. They were met with fans chanting 'Ozzy' and waiting for around five minutes before the procession continued on.
The Black Sabbath frontman was laid to rest aside an ornamental lake on his 250-acre estate in Buckinghamshire. Since his death, fans have left floral tributes outside the property.
Elsewhere Jack is set to appear on ITV One's Cooking with the Stars from 7pm tonight (August 3). He will be going head-to-head against reality star Jessica Wright.

On Monday, Birmingham City Council began gathering up the tributes so they can be stored before being handed over to the Osbourne family. A handful of fans watched from behind barriers, took photographs and hugged each other as officials in hi-vis jackets collected all the flowers and tributes which had been laid in front of the bench and on the railings behind it. The council said the mementos would be gathered and preserved 'respectfully' in agreement with the rock star's relatives and then stored 'with the utmost care at a secure location, ensuring they are protected and treated with dignity'. The council said: 'In due course, they will be passed on to the Osbourne family, so they may keep them as a lasting reminder of the public's affection and support.'I n a statement released through the city council, the Osbourne family said: 'We are deeply moved by the heartfelt tributes that have been placed at the Black Sabbath Bridge and at the Black Sabbath mural on Navigation Street in recent days. In another poignant twist, Ozzy's daughter Kelly Osbourne got engaged to her boyfriend Sid Wilson at the veteran rocker's final concert. Last Thursday, an "incredibly emotional" funeral service was held for the rocker, a family friend told The Sun. Tents were erected on the 250-acre grounds of the house Ozzy and Sharon bought in 1993, along with a stage where tributes were paid to the rocker. The home was decorated with pictures of Ozzy, and mourners were given a photograph of him to take home. 110 of the singer's nearest and dearest attended, joining his wife Sharon and his children Jack, 39, Kelly, 40, Aimee, 41, and Louis, 50, his son from his first marriage to Thelma Riley. Stars at the service included Ozzy's Black Sabbath bandmates, Metallica's James Hetfield, punk singer Yungblud and Sir Elton John. The day before, thousands of fans gathered in the streets of Birmingham to pay tribute to Ozzy.
