MediaCo Unveils Estrella Media 2025 Programming Slate, Launches HOT 97 FAST Channel
MediaCo unveiled its 2025 programming slate and a shift in its business strategy at this year's IAB NewFronts, positioning itself as a multicultural, multiplatform media company targeting Hispanic and Black audiences.
Among the key highlights, the company is launching a HOT 97 TV FAST Channel and showcased EstrellaTV's featured programming: Don Cheto Al Aire Live , reality talent show Tengo Talento Mucho Talento: Nueva Era , and Tigres Liga MX Soccer. It also announced expanded content distribution and advertising partnerships.
Following the completion of its acquisition of Estrella Media's operations and broadcast assets on May 1st, MediaCo is looking to bolster its profile and reach by capitalizing on the combined strength of its Spanish-language radio, television and streaming properties across the country, alongside New York urban stations HOT 97 and WBLS, now reaching over 20 million people monthly.
"It's a new day for Estrella Media, Hot 97, and WBLS — now together under MediaCo. We have built an organization capable of delivering unparalleled solutions across video, audio, and events for national and local advertisers on all platforms, reaching vibrant multicultural Hispanic and Black audiences," says Albert Rodriguez, Interim CEO.
Most of MediaCo's assets are Estrella Media broadcast and streaming properties whose content is in Spanish. The change in course boils down to economics, explains René Santaella, COO of MediaCo.
"In today's new media and entertainment environment where you are competing against big players and independent creators, success is driven by achieving massive scale with lower operating margins," states Santaella, a former former Sony and Disney ad sales and media executive hired to overhaul Estrella Media's digital division in 2020. "The broader content story doesn't mean you are pivoting from your roots. It means you are being smarter, faster and more innovative on how you are meeting audiences where they are consuming content. There are three critical success factors that drive our focus every day: scale, differentiation and hustle."
A key component of MediaCo's strategy is its expansion into streaming through FAST channels. The new 24/7 HOT 97 TV FAST Channel will feature hip-hop and Afro culture programming, including Summer Jam coverage and Ebro in the Morning . It plans to replicate the Don Cheto Al Aire Live TV and streaming video best practices for Ebro in the Morning .
"The launch of HOT 97 TV is taking an iconic radio brand and making sure it rides the wave of CTV streaming growth," says Santaella,"We are capitalizing on our brands but also our expertise in streaming TV, distribution, monetization and operations."
The company is currently building a new New York studio with specs and capabilities based on what has been done in Burbank for Don Cheto Al Aire , while working closely with talent.

ETH Price Surges as $2.9B Inflows, EthCC, and Robinhood's L2 Fuel Bullish Sentiment
Ether (ETH) 3.5% in the past 24 hours to $2,519 as of 18:59 UTC on June 30, according to CoinDesk Research's technical analysis model, supported by continued institutional demand, network upgrades, and major retail platform integrations. Institutional interest remains robust, with CoinShares reporting $429 million in net inflows into ether investment products over the past week and nearly $2.9 billion year-to-date. This trend has coincided with a declining ETH supply on exchanges and rising staking levels, with over 35 million ETH —a round 28% of the total supply — now locked in proof-of-stake contracts. Market analysts suggest that these factors are reducing liquid supply and bolstering ether's long-term investment thesis. Robinhood announced on Monday that it is developing its own Layer-2 blockchain using Arbitrum's rollup infrastructure. The network is not yet live, but the initiative will eventually support Ethereum staking, tokenized stock trading, and perpetual crypto futures. Although the L2 is under development, the decision to build it on Ethereum's rollup ecosystem is seen as a long-term vote of confidence in Ethereum's scalability roadmap. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has also introduced a new digital identity framework using zero-knowledge proofs. This system allows users to verify traits or credentials without revealing private data and is designed to help Web3 apps incorporate privacy-preserving identity systems. Analysts view this as a key step toward wider adoption of decentralized applications requiring sensitive user authentication. Meanwhile, the Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC) kicked off in Cannes, France, gathering more than 6,400 attendees and 500 speakers. The event showcases Ethereum's ongoing developer momentum through presentations on new tools, scaling strategies, and protocol improvements. Despite the positive momentum, ETH remains just below its 200-day moving average, suggesting technical barriers still exist. However, the confluence of inflows, developer progress, and scaling plans continues to support a constructive outlook. Technical Analysis Highlights Ether traded between $2,438.50 and $2,523 from June 29 19:00 to June 30 18:00, marking a 3.47% range. The largest spike occurred during the 22:00–23:00 UTC window on June 29, when ETH surged 2.9% on volume of 368,292 ETH, briefly pushing through the $2,500 barrier. On June 30 at 15:00 UTC, ETH found strong support around $2,438 on above-average volume, confirming a bullish floor. A local high of $2,523 was reached earlier in the day, establishing resistance just above the psychological $2,500 level. During the final hour from 18:00 to 18:59 UTC on June 30, ETH retraced from an intraday peak of $2,499.19 to close at $2,487.19. A sharp upward move between 18:20–18:21 saw ETH climb 1.6% on 6,318 ETH volume, stalling near $2,499. As of 20:23 UTC on June 30, ETH traded at $2,519, up 3.49% in 24 hours, signaling renewed bullish momentum into the Asia open. 'Flashback' (1990) Blu-Ray Review - Unlikely Buddy Comedy Is Harmless Fun
Dennis Hopper and Kiefer Sutherland make a screen team that spans generations in Flashback. Infamous '60s radical Huey Walker (Hopper) has been caught by the Feds and is headed for prison under the watchful eye of an uptight FBI agent (Sutherland). Easy enough, right? But when Huey turns the tables on his escort, the two are in for a ride that's anything but easy. Carol Kane, Paul Dooley, and Cliff De Young also star in this laugh-packed road trip (emphasis on trip)! For thoughts on Flashback, please check out my thoughts on No Streaming Required: Video Quality Flashback debuted on Blu-Ray in 2023 with an inconsistent digital AVC encoded 1080p transfer derived from an older master that could use a refresh with its various drawbacks. The transfer retains a respectable amount of natural film grain, although there appears to be some amount of processing applied. Subtle signs of print damage show up sporadically, but it is an overall clear viewing experience. This is a pretty soft image for most of the runtime, but some fine detail can be observed in the clothing and backgrounds. Colors are somewhat muted yet stand out in certain moments in terms of saturation. Black levels are irregular with crush and compression artifacts occasionally visible in this presentation. Skin tones are natural and consistent across the ensemble. This feature could get a nice uptick with a fresh master, but it does what you need it to if you don't mind a careless HD presentation. Audio Quality This Blu-Ray presents the film with a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track and a DTS-HD 2.0 Master Audio stereo track that are quite a bit better than the video side of things. The witty dialogue comes through clearly in tandem with all competing sounds. The environmental effects, such as rushing river water and train noises, are defined without turning into an auditory mess. The soundtrack presents an immersive experience for audiences. Nearly every tune emerges with a forthright fidelity, but you do hear the slightest bit of strain in some notes. Shout! Studios has done good work overall. Optional English SDH subtitles are provided. Special Features There are no special features provided on this disc. Final Thoughts Flashback is a pretty standard unlikely buddy comedy that plays well enough within the conventions. Kiefer Sutherland seems a bit too stiff for this role, but Dennis Hopper seems to be completely in his element. Carol Kane is a scene-stealer who allows that back half of the film to feel a bit more lively. This is a good candidate for a mindless weekend watch. Shout! Studios has provided a Blu-Ray featuring a dated A/V presentation and zero special features. Fans of the talent involved will want to seek it out, but casual audiences may want to sample before they buy. Flashback is currently available to purchase on Blu-Ray. Note: Images presented in this review are not reflective of the image quality of the Blu-Ray. Disclaimer: Shout! Studios has supplied a copy of this set free of charge for review purposes.
