'Easy to use' Tefal air fryer that brings 'convenience' to kitchen now 54% off
Air fryers have fast become a kitchen staple for their speed, simplicity, and energy-saving benefits. And now, one of Tefal's top-rated models, praised as "easy to use" and a genuine source of "convenience", is available at a significant discount.
The Tefal Easy Fry Mega Air Fryer is now priced at just £63.99 on Amazon, down from £139.99, a 54 percent price cut on this extra-large capacity model.
Finished in grey, this compact but high-capacity appliance boasts a 7.5L cooking space, enough to serve up to eight people, making it ideal for families or batch cooking.
Despite its size, the design is surprisingly space-saving, and it comes with eight preset cooking programs, one manual mode, and a rotary knob for precise control over time (up to 60 minutes) and temperature (from 80C to 200C).
In addition to its large basket and ease of use, the Tefal Easy Fry Mega Air Fryer is also energy-efficient, with tests showing it uses up to 65 percent less energy and cooks up to 37 percent faster than a traditional oven when preparing frozen fries.
The basket is dishwasher-safe, and Tefal promises 15-year reparability with parts available at over 6,200 global centres, a strong selling point for anyone thinking long term.
If you're exploring other air fryer options, the Tower T17182 7.2L Air Fryer is available at £60 on Argos and offers similar capacity and functionality with a sleek black finish.
Another option is the more advanced Ninja 6-in-1 Dual Zone Air Fryer 7.6L, currently £129.99, down from £199.99.
While pricier, it allows for dual-zone cooking and boasts strong reviews, but if it's the Tefal air fryer's simplicity and size you're after, this model remains a popular pick with a 4.7-star rating from 357 reviews.
One user said: "Clean, convenient and quick, this little fryer has made a big difference to the convenience of my life in a very short time… I'm very pleased by the taste and texture of meals produced by this excellent little gadget."
However, some reviews were less enthusiastic. "Airfryer is great, works well and cooks well too. My only issue is that the screen has a ton of scratches all over it… disheartened."
Another user praised its beginner-friendly design: "This is my very first air fryer… it looks smart, is quiet and is very easy to operate. It cooks superbly well and cleaning isn't a chore."

Another called it a worthy purchase: "Absolutely love this air-fryer! Quick, efficient and super easy to use! Most definitely worth every penny... even my wife now cooks!"
Despite a few drawbacks, the Tefal Easy Fry Mega has impressed many with its power, capacity, and user-friendly design. For those looking to simplify everyday cooking, it's a model that promises ease and efficiency in one compact unit.

Emergency alert will go off on millions of phones - 'spread the word'
The government's emergency alert system will be tested at 3pm on Sunday, September 7, with millions of phones receiving a message warning of danger to life nearby Brits have been urged to brace themselves for a loud alarm from their mobile phones in a national drill of the emergency alert. The system will be tested at 3pm on Sunday, September 7, with millions of phones receiving a message warning of danger to life nearby. Mobiles on 4G and 5G networks will vibrate and emit a loud siren for around 10 seconds - even if they are set on silent, and also see a test message appear on screens, making it clear the alert is a drill. The public won't need to do anything, just swipe the message away or click 'OK' on the phone home screen. The test will be just the second of its kind and follows a government pledge to test the system regularly to make sure the alarm works and get the public used to it. It follows similar alarms in other countries such as Japan and the USA. It comes after everyone in the UK with WhatsApp was put on red alert and told to follow three new rules. With one month to go, the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Pat McFadden, is now rallying the nation to get ready for the second ever national test of the UK's Emergency Alerts system. He said: 'From major storms to wildfires, this system could save your life in an emergency. Just like the fire alarm in your house, it's important we test the system so that we know it will work if we need it. It's part of our Plan for Change to secure the nation and keep people safe. 'This test will be one of the biggest public safety exercises in our nation's history. Mark the date, spread the word, and take a moment to think about how you would respond in a real emergency.' The largest use of such an alert came during Storm Éowyn in January 2025, 4.5 million people in Scotland and Northern Ireland got an alert warning of life-threatening conditions. It was also rolled out when an unexploded World War II bomb was discovered in Plymouth in February 2024, helping evacuate 10,000 residents in just hours. Since the first national test of the Emergency Alerts system in April 2023, five alerts have been sent, including during major storms when lives were at risk. Ahead of the national test, the government is running a public information campaign to notify people it is taking place, including communications targeted at vulnerable groups such as victims of domestic abuse. The campaign has also featured the first national information video in British Sign Language. Last week, the full text of the test message was revealed for the first time. It will say: 'This is a test of Emergency Alerts, a UK government service that will warn you if there's a life-threatening emergency nearby. You do not need to take any action. In a real emergency, follow the instructions in the alert to keep yourself and others safe. Find simple and effective advice on how to prepare for emergencies at As well as making clear the test is just a drill, the message will point the public to a one-stop site offering advice about steps households can take to prepare for emergencies. The test follows the publication of the Resilience Action Plan, which set out a raft of measures to secure the nation. This included investing £4.2 billion in new flood defences to more than £1 billion in a network of National Biosecurity Centres, ensuring communities across the country will be better protected from threats like extreme weather and pandemics.

Popular free iPhone and Android apps have a hidden cost - check your settings now
Android and iPhone users could find that their data is running low each month due to 10 popular apps. Unless you have an unlimited data plan, you'll need to keep a close eye on how much you are getting through each month. Adding one-off bolt-ons to accounts can be hugely expensive, and running out means no access to vital services such as WhatsApp, Google Maps or email when away from Wi-Fi. If you constantly find yourself with no data in the bank at the end of the month, there could be a very simple reason why. According to the team at TRG Datacenters, we are all ploughing through more data than ever, with the average phone user now consuming over 11GB per month - that's a 40% increase from just two years ago. As you might expect, the biggest drain is apps - especially those that show video content. TRG Datacenters has now revealed its top 10 list of applications that will munch through that monthly allowance, and YouTube comes out on top. This popular video platform is then followed by Twitch, Snapchat, TikTok, Threads and Netflix. It's probably no surprise to hear that content streaming platforms are the worst offenders, but TRG Datacenters also says that many apps - including YouTube - are also munching through data when not being used. "The mobile app that uses the most data is YouTube, with 69.4K megabytes per hour, and over 90% of it is spent on background usage," TRG Datacenters explained. It is easy to turn off background usage of any app in the settings, and it's definitely worth considering if you find you keep running out. Here are the top 10 apps for data based on average user usage. Twitch Snapchat TikTok Threads Netflix Instagram Facebook Telegram Pinterest As a guide, if you have a data plan with 1GB of usage, it would take less than 2 hours of high-quality YouTube streaming to run out. Speaking about the study, a spokesperson from TRG Datacenters said: 'People often don't realise that the apps eating up their data plans aren't necessarily the ones they're actively using. "Background data consumption has become a hidden drain on mobile plans, with many popular apps continuously syncing content, updating feeds, and preloading videos even when you're not looking at your phone. T "his creates a particularly frustrating scenario for users on limited data plans who find themselves hitting their monthly caps despite feeling like they haven't been streaming that much content, when in reality, their apps have been quietly consuming data around the clock.' Both Android and iPhone devices let you check data usage and which apps are the worst offenders so it's worth checking to see what's been chewing through your allowance as it could save you buying more data.

'Robust and versatile' Amazon £30 smartwatch is 'tough enough for outdoor use'
Over 2,000 shoppers have bought the watch in the last month - and it's currently £130 off. Smartwatches are a part of everyday life for many of us. From tracking our sleep overnight, to monitoring our steps throughout the day, and recording any workouts we do. On top of this, they sync to our phones allowing us to take and make calls and texts, as well as checking various apps. One issue that some people have found, however, is that they can be a bit lightweight and can't always handle the rough and tumble of heavy activity. Step forward the Atheewon S10 Military Smart Watch. This "rugged" watch has been "built to endure the toughest environments". And, to make things even better, it has been slashed by 81 per cent on Amazon, down from £159.99 to an affordable £29.99. The Atheewon S10 is equipped with triple defence technology, according to Amazon. It is shockproof, drop-resistant, and scratch-resistant. It "ensures reliable performance" for daily activities, intensive training, or adventuring in the great outdoors. Its Bluetooth tech means users get real-time updates on calls, messages, and app notifications, meaning you can stay connected whether you're walking, working, or working out. And it boasts a five-day battery life from a two-hour charge in normal mode - extending to 20 days in standby. The smart watch also monitors key health metrics like heart rate, blood oxygen, and sleep quality, and you can track it all with the 'GloryFit' app, It also boasts over 100 sports modes, so it is ready for any sporty adventure you want to undertake. Similar options on the market for budget sport smartwatches include the Karrimor Smart Watch, which is £19.99 at Sports Direct, or the Reflex Active Series 23 Smart Watch, which is £39.99 at Currys. In terms of bigger brands available, the Apple Watch SE 2 can be picked up for £219 on Amazon, while the Samsung Galaxy Watch6 is currently at its lowest ever price at Argos - £279. Back to the Atheewon S10 Military Smart Watch, it has received rave reviews on Amazon, where over 2,000 have been bought in the last month. Many users praised its versatility and durability. One happy customer said: "Bought this military smartwatch for my tech-savvy younger brother who loves unique wearables. It's been a total win. Exceeds his expectations for style, durability, and functionality. "Perfect for active users who want a bold, versatile smartwatch. What makes it substantial is its screen, which is vibrant and easy to read outdoors. Highly impressed" An outdoor enthusiast commented: "Rugged, feature-packed, and surprisingly stylish. Call function and fitness tracking work well, and it's tough enough for outdoor use. Very comfortable and the size is just right." And another five-star reviewer was "blown away" by the watch. They said: "[It] brilliantly combines robust design, technical performance and sporty versatility. Whether you are sporty, adventurous or simply a fan of smart gadgets, this smartwatch will accompany you everywhere, while enhancing your wrist." However, not everyone was as enthused about the smartwatch. One shopper said: "Nice watch but step counter doesn't work properly for me. Some days it doesn't register at all and I know I've walked three or four miles." Another raged: "This watch is totally not usable. It stops working, the screen brightness is not adjustable, it steals all of your data from your phone! It doesn't keep up with what you are doing." Tech deal of the week Shoppers keen to take their fitness to the next level would benefit from purchasing a smartwatch. One of which is on the popular Jugeman Smartwatch. Normally retailing for £99.99, shoppers can now snap up this 4.8 star rated gadget with the pink strap for only £22.79 in a limited time deal. Boasting a 1.92-inch HD touch screen, shoppers can truly make this smartwatch their own as it comes with over 220 personalised watch faces to choose from. Featuring an ultra lightweight design to provide a comfortable and relaxed fit, the smartwatch will monitor your heart rate throughout the day as well as analyse your sleep. Shoppers will also be able to use a range of other features, such as music control, weather forecast, find my phone, as well as receive calls, texts and social media notifications One delighted shopper said: "I'm genuinely impressed with this smartwatch! It looks sleek and modern, and the bright display is easy to read even in daylight. The features are exactly what I need fitness tracking, notifications, heart rate monitoring, and more. "The orange strap adds a fun and sporty touch, and it's surprisingly comfortable to wear all day. Setup was quick and straightforward, and the battery life is better than expected.
