Xsolla Unveils Cloud Gaming Trials to Convert Game Demos Into Revenue

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Xsolla, a global commerce company helping developers launch, grow and monetize their games, announces today game trials as a new focus for its Cloud Gaming solution. Designed to help developers and publishers boost visibility, player acquisition, and conversion, the upgraded Cloud Gaming solution bridges the gap between marketing and monetization by enabling instant game access, real-time performance tracking, and flexible pay-to-play models. In an increasingly competitive cloud gaming market projected to surpass $10.4 billion in global revenue by 2025, developers are seeking scalable and cost-effective ways to engage players both before and after launch. With over 19,000 games added to Steam in 2024 alone, visibility and differentiation are more critical than ever. Xsolla's upgraded Cloud Gaming solution addresses these challenges by offering a frictionless way for players to try games instantly in the browser, while enabling publishers to monetize that engagement through in-stream purchases, game key sales, and direct referrals. Players can instantly launch a game without downloads or installs with a simple 'Play Now' button or deep-link listing on Using our 'Play Before You Buy' feature, players can try the game for up to 15 minutes in a cloud-streamed session before deciding to purchase. These trial experiences support pay-as-you-go monetization and full-game purchases through direct key sales, including platforms like Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Epic Games, all accessible through the in-stream overlay. Key benefits of Xsolla Cloud Gaming Trials include: Instant Game Access: One-click browser-based demos with no install required. Flexible Monetization Models: Support for play-before-you-buy, pay-as-you-go, and direct key sales. Publisher Control: Full ownership over data, player journeys, and campaign performance. Marketing Attribution: Real-time tracking of engagement, referral sources, and conversion. Controlled Distribution: Whitelisting tools for media access, VIP demos, or phased campaign launches. Global Reach with Lower Cost: Direct-to-consumer and Xsolla Mall distribution lowers acquisition costs. 'With Cloud Gaming Trials, we've created a powerful way to transform marketing campaigns into measurable sales engines,' said Chris Hewish, President at Xsolla. 'You no longer need to wait for a wishlist or an install; we're giving the ability to provide players with instant access to their favorite games while giving developers full control over what happens next.' Cloud Gaming Trials is ideal for pre-launch community building and post-launch re-engagement. Studios can list demos on Xsolla's cloud store to drive early interest and conversion. Once live, publishers can use the same tools to enable sampling, track click-through-to-purchase rates, and adjust campaign targeting based on performance. By combining flexible monetization with actionable data, developers can optimize marketing spend and grow their audience more effectively. Unlike traditional marketplaces where visibility is algorithm-dependent and analytics are limited, Xsolla Cloud Gaming Trials puts discovery and data back in the hands of creators. The platform empowers teams to run whitelisted demos for press, partners, or influencers, enabling targeted promotions without public exposure. Xbox Gaming Controller Now Goes for Peanuts on Amazon Even Though It's 2025's New Model

Gaming these days can be pretty cheap, thanks to a huge horde of amazing free-to-play games, but it doesn't make the peripherals any cheaper. Gaming controllers are good now, for sure, but they're also pretty pricey. So, it really pays to keep an eye out for deals which bring the best ones down to a more affordable price point. Right now, Amazon has a 17% discount on the Xbox Wireless Gaming Controller. That means that instead of the usual price of $65, you can get it for just $54 instead. That's a solid amount of money off, and it makes this excellent controller a bit more affordable. Be quick though, as the deal won't last for long. See at Amazon Good gaming controllers can be, if you'll enjoy the pun, a game-changer. It means you can control what you're doing with more precision, a higher level of comfort for your hands, and just generally enjoy an all-around better experience. The Xbox controllers are some of the best ones around, and there are some good reasons for that. One of the big things is that they're so absurdly compatible with other things. You can use them with your Xbox, sure, but they're also great for PC gaming, Android and iOS gaming, virtual reality, and even gaming on your Fire TV stick. This just means you can potentially get a huge amount of use out of it, and that's what getting your money's worth is all about. The controller is incredibly comfortable, with a lovely cross-hatch grip to make sure you're always in control, and it's got what is essentially the de facto design nowadays. You will need to grab some batteries or a reusable battery pack for it though, as Xbox controllers are some of the only ones out there that don't come with a built-in rechargeable option for some reason. Of course, you can also just hook it up to a power source via USB and ignore that completely if you need to. The universal usage and sheer quality of the build and play experience make the Xbox Gaming Controller one of the best options for new gamers and veterans alike, and it's why so many people use it as the default. It's why it doesn't have to go on sale very often. So, if you feel like making a decent saving and getting a great controller, move quickly to secure it while it's down to $54. See at Amazon

PlayStation launches massive Gamescom sale with PS5 and PS4 games from $4 — here's 12 deals I'd buy this weekend

Gamescom 2025 kicks off next week, and to mark the annual video game trade show, PlayStation Store has launched a new sales event with deals on PS5 and PS4 games starting from just $4. The deals include big savings on new releases like Monster Hunter Wilds and Days Gone Remastered, as well as some classics dropping to rock-bottom prices, including Alien Isolation, and now is the perfect time to play with "Alien: Earth" debuting on FX/Hulu earlier this week. I'm rounding up my favorite deals in the new PlayStation Store sale down below, and I've also found some epic deals at Amazon to give you even more choices ahead of a whole weekend of PlayStation gaming. In Dying Light 2 Stay Human, you'll control Aiden Caldwell, a skilled survivor searching for his lost sister in a city overrun with zombies. The game focuses on parkour, combat and making choices that impact the story and the fate of the city's factions. Plus, it's been consistently updated with new content since its initial launch in spring 2022. Experience the original Dead Rising with improved graphics across the board in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. This upgraded version of the 2006 classic sees you play as Frank West as he investigates the nightmare situation at Williamette Parkview Mall. Along the way, you'll rescue survivors and defeat memorable bosses, and also fight your way through an entire horde of undead zombies. Final Fantasy XVI is a mature, action-focused reinvention of Square Enix's long-running RPG franchise that spins a yarn closer to "Game of Thrones" than any of the previous entries. In FF16, you play Clive Rosfield, son of the Duke of Rosaria. After a tragic opening, you're forced to become a "Bearer" for another ruler, and set off for a gripping tale that's laden with twists, wielding all kinds of powers in precise, real-time battles as you travel the length and breadth of Valisthea. Sonic X Shadow Generations combines a remaster of 2011's Sonic Generations, a love letter to the Blue Blur that remains a fan-favorite to this day, with a new Shadow-focused campaign. It's a strong package, and it's perfectly timed to coincide with the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie, which is now available to watch on streaming, so you can have a whole Sonic X Shadow-themed weekend. We're in a golden age of horror remakes, and Silent Hill 2 is among the very best. This stunning new take on the survival-horror classic sees you step into the fog-blanketed town as James Sunderland, a man on the hunt for his missing wife. Tense and atmospheric, it's fantastic. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the game the PS5 was born to play. In this stylish intergalactic adventure, you'll take control of seasoned heroes Ratchet and Clank — as well as their distaff counterparts, Rivet and Kit. With 10 huge planets to explore, tons of weapons to customize and upgrade, a variety of enemies to fight, and plenty of puzzles to solve, Rift Apart is an absolute joy from start to finish. Kingdom Come Deliverance II is a vast RPG sequel that sees you once again step into the boots of Henry, a young nobleman on a quest for revenge in medieval Bohemia. Designed to be as immersive as possible, the world reacts to your actions, and most quests can be completed in a myriad of ways. Its more restrictive elements may be off-putting to some players, but if you're looking for a sprawling quest that gives you plenty of freedom, few do it better than KCDII. Returnal is a heart-pounding PS5 game that combines bullet-hell gameplay with an engaging roguelike structure. You play an astronaut stuck in a time loop on a mysterious and very deadly alien planet. It's your job to break the cycle and unravel the mystery of this strange new world and how you came to be stranded here. Long before Elden Ring, Bloodborne and Dark Souls, From Software released Demon's Souls, the first Souls title to truly establish the core gameplay loop that has taken the gaming world by storm. For the current generation, Sony had Bluepoint develop this faithful, beautiful remaster, which improves on the original title and updates it with amazing graphics, new weapons, and items. Split Fiction is a co-op adventure where two writers, Mio and Zoe, get trapped in a chaotic mix of their own stories. One minute, you're dodging cyber ninjas, the next, you're riding dragons. It's all about teamwork, solving puzzles, and navigating wild genre mashups to escape their own imaginations. Metaphor ReFantazio, an original fantasy adventure that combines social sim elements with stylish turn-based combat, comes from the creator of the acclaimed Persona series. Yes, it's basically Persona in a fantasy setting, but that's a recipe for success, and Metaphor easily gets its hooks into you. It's also meaty, with even a rushed playthrough taking several dozen hours.
