Oklahoma Sooners predicted to land electric in-state wide receiver

Yahoo21-02-2025

The Oklahoma Sooners are trending in a positive direction for one of the best players in the state of Oklahoma, wide receiver Mason James. Oklahoma earned a Rivals Futurecast from national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman on Thursday evening.
James is a talented four-star prospect in the 2026 recruiting class and is considered the No. 2 player in the state of Oklahoma by 247Sports. On Wednesday, he included Oklahoma in his top 10, along with Florida, Notre Dame, Michigan, Washington, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Kansas State, Missouri, and Arizona State.
He had a huge season for Norman North with 56 receptions for 1,233 yards and 17 touchdowns.
The first thing that jumps off the screen about James is his route running. The Norman North product does a fantastic job setting up defenders without having to slow down going into his break. That puts defensive backs out of position as he flies down the field. James is an electric playmaker with the speed to run past the secondary in the deep passing game or take a pass in the short passing game the distance for a touchdown. James shows fantastic lateral agility, making defenders miss in the open field. He also does a great job tracking the ball in the air and displays soft hands.
James is one of the most dynamic players in the class and would make a huge impact with the Sooners. His route-running ability and speed make him an option to play on the outside or in the slot. He can be a threat in the return game. Just get Mason James the ball and watch him go to work.

BOOM! Ohio State football lands highly sought after defensive back

The Ohio State football team continues to add to one of the best 2026 recruiting classes in the country. The latest verbal commitment comes from four-star defensive back Jordan Thomas, who announced his pledge to the Buckeyes on Monday afternoon. Out of Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, New Jersey, Thomas is ranked as the No. 17 cornerback and 176th overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting cycle according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He chose the Buckeyes over finalists Auburn, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Texas A&M. When reacting to the commitment on a live stream hosted by On3, he said that Ohio State "checked off all the boxes." Advertisement 'When it comes to development in all aspects of life,' Thomas said, 'in the faith part, field part, academically, in my character, there's no place better than Ohio State.' The commitment now gives OSU a total of 13 pledges in the 2026 class, a crop that is currently ranked as No. 3 in the country according to the 247Sports Team Composite rankings. Thomas is the fourth defensive back committed to the class, joining safeties Blaine Bradford and Simeon Caldwell, and cornerback Jakob Weatherspoon. Ohio State football 2026 recruiting class commitment tracker

Though changes like Name, Image and Likeness (NIL), and the transfer portal have changed how rosters are put together in college football these days, getting things off on the right foot with a talented recruiting class is still the baseline of building a roster. The Ohio State football program recruits at an elite level, and has for decades, and there are a few national titles to show for all the efforts. The same applies to the likes of Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, and others over the last few years. Bring in the groceries to stock the shelves, cook the dinner, then supplement with other key ingredients -- that seems to be the recipe for success. Advertisement We keep tabs on what Ohio State is doing with its football recruiting and keep a recruiting commitment tracker for each of OSU's classes as players commit, all the way through putting pen to paper on National Signing Day and we are doing the same for the 2026 class that is also looking like another elite one in the country. Here's a look at each of Ohio State's commitments with star and recruiting service rankings, measurables, and hometowns. We will continue to keep this tracker updated as the class takes shape, so check back often and get up to speed with where the Buckeyes' efforts go towards continuing the momentum it's had for a long, long time. BOOM! Ohio State football gains commitment from 4-star running back

The Ohio State football program is deep in the throes of summer recruiting season with camps and contact taking place. It just finished off a big recruiting weekend, and the Buckeyes appear to have made a good impression with in-state, 4-star running back Favour Akih because he gave his pledge to the Scarlet and Gray on Sunday. Out of Rutherford B. Hayes High School in Delaware, Ohio, Favour is a 4-star prospect ranked as the No. 166 overall prospect in the country and 14th running back recruit in the 2026 recruiting cycle according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Advertisement Favour grew up an Ohio State fan and longed to play for the Buckeyes but went through with his official visits, eventually narrowing his list down to OSU, Miami (FL), and USC. He established a close relationship with the Buckeyes' coaches, most notably running backs coach Carlos Locklyn. It always felt like he would don the Scarlet and Gray, but he made it official finally on Sunday just a couple of days after his official visit to campus on Friday. Read More: Ohio State football 2026 recruiting class tracker Favour becomes the first running back commitment and 14th overall commitment in the 2026 class, one that is a consensus top-five group at the moment, right where Ohio State is used to being. The Buckeyes would love to land one of the big running back targets still out there and are in play for Savion Hiter and Derrek Cooper.
