However, it has decided against making more episodes beyond 2025 and
Alan, who has played Dr Karl Kennedy for 31 years, believes executive producer Jason Herbison has crafted the perfect goodbye though, one which is very different from the last farewell.
For its initial swansong, legends of the show's past returned, including Kylie Minogue,
In an exclusive interview with The Sun,

"And, of course, he could never go anywhere near where we went last time. Now, that's done, that type of episode. So it's been really, really fantastic to work on this last ending.
"I know the fans are going to love it. It'll go to air in December and it'll be adored."
Having been saved once, fans might be holding out hope that another production company will intervene, but Alan doesn't think it's likely.
"It'd be lovely if a TV saviour came along and said, 'oh no, let's keep
Neighbours
going', but I don't think that's very likely," he says.

His feelings towards Neighbours' retirement is very different this time round, with disappointment now replaced by satisfaction.
A modern filming style and fresh team reinvigorated the programme and the product was noticeably more refined.
I collapsed after being rescued from terrifying drowning on Neighbours set, reveals Karl Kennedy star Alan Fletcher
"The first time around, I was gutted," he says. "I was gutted for the fans, I was gutted for everyone losing their job, but partly I was gutted because I felt like Neighbours had unfinished
business
.
"And when Amazon bought the show back, suddenly the show was revitalised. It had a new
energy
, a new crew, and I think it just looked a million times better. We changed the way we shot the show.

"So by the time we got to the end this time, I think a lot of us just looked at each other and went, you know, we have just made 400 episodes of the highest quality TV drama that you could do on the budget.
"If you think about how many shows are on
Netflix
that maybe do 16 or 13 shows in a season, we've done a hell of a lot of episodes, and they have been superb. So I just think we felt very proud at the end."
While there's plenty of action to air between now and December, Karl's already been at the heart of some dark and challenging plotlines this year.
He's fought to save his
marriage
to wife Susan as well as his
health
after growing addicted to painkillers, something that Susan's doctor nephew Darcy exploited.

"This is what we crave as actors, of course, because it gave, it gave a really great opportunity to explore Karl's flaws," says Alan.
"We've all perhaps seen the series Dopesick about who becomes addicted to painkillers and Karl gets stuck in that maelstrom. But he doesn't want to be in it. He actually genuinely believes he's shaken his addiction.

"And then, of course, Darcy
drugs
him in a way by giving him painkillers without him knowing it. Yeah, a great, clever story and a wonderful way to finish up on the show."
Alan is currently in the UK and Ireland on a 34-date music tour, playing his honest and occasionally comedic brand of Americana, alongside his band, which includes his wife of 35 years, Jennifer Hansen.
Though the music is his sole focus, he's also on the lookout for a UK TV agent that could get him some roles on our shores.
"Like a lot of Aussie actors, I would crave to come and work in the UK," he admits. "And I'm looking to try and find myself a UK agent because I think the UK makes some of the best
television
in the world.
"I think in terms of
comedy
, which I love to be involved in, the Brits are like the Australians.
"We do understand satire and so there's incredibly sharp and witty television made here. And in terms of drama, the thing I really love about being in the UK is seeing how older actors, and I put myself in that bracket now, how older actors really get a good run on television and
film
. And some of the best UK actors, of course, are the older contingents.
"You know, you name
Australia
so much. Generally, the main roles are taken by younger people. So, you know, I'd crave to work here."
Before that comes to pass, Alan is on the promo trail for his latest single,
Back To School
, a poignant ballad on how to nurture a loving relationship.
"The title was about what I've learnt in studying philosophy, that love is something you can't take for granted, you have to really look at it," says Alan.
"I mean, that's a bit of a cliche, but a lot of people don't spend the time. So it's really saying, let's get back to school and learn how to love.
"It's a very musical, laid-back track, and it gets a great reaction from people."
Both Alan and Jen went back to school, as it were, when they attended a lecture on love by philosopher Alain de Botton that helped to improve their own relationship.
"It was quite transformative for us, because it reminds us that perfect love is a bit of an 18th century creation," says Alan. "And in reality, we all love each other's flaws, rather than trying to change each other.
"And once we heard that, and kind of accepted that, and went, 'yes, absolutely, that's what it is'. So now if either one of us in the relationship do something that the other one would normally think is annoying or troublesome, now we look at it and go, 'oh, it's adorable that you do that'.

The tour comprises of 34 dates and is underway now
Credit: Lime Tree Music
"So just accepting that we are who we are, and trying to change people, mold them to be the perfect human being, is a waste of time."
At the tail end of last year Alan also released a classic slice of Americana in Tell 'Em, a duet with Jennifer that tells the tale of lost love.
"It really is the first cut, the deepest I suppose, that notion of the first relationship you have and how it kind of never leaves you, even though you break up and move on with your life and you have other loves, there's some little tiny part of you that's still wishes that somehow you've been able to work it out all those years ago.
"So essentially just saying, look, I know we'll never be together, but I just think of you all the time, or in flashes."
Both tracks will be joining Alan on his tour which is taking place now and runs until September.

Olly kicked off with his 2012 hit Troublemaker, before belting out Right Place The Right Time and Please Don't Let Me Go to a packed out crowd. The musician then took a trip down memory lane and told fans: "Ladies and gentleman, I'm taking you guys all the way back, right to the beginning, put your hands up." Olly brought the energy with his cheeky-chappy charisma as he sang his catchy 2010 track Thinking of Me, with the star rocking the stage with his slick moves and turning the crowd into a full-on singalong. The atmosphere was buzzing with festival-goers of all ages attending this four-day music event, with even Wayne Rooney's wife Coleen and her family enjoying the weekend. This is the first year this new festival was held at Bolesworth Castle, a Grade II listed building. The views alone are worth the visit, with plenty of rural beauty to admire while rocking out to the music and enjoying a bite to eat. UB40 also took to the main stage earlier that day and it wouldn't be a UB40 performance without them singing their arguably best know hit Red Red Wine, which got the festival-goers singing along. Another standout star from the line-up was rapper Professor Green, who performed a set on Sunday. Although there was some rain and grey skies at times, it definitely didn't dampen spirits and if anything brought attendees together. Olly Murs breaks silence on baby two 'I didn't expect it to happen this quick' The Lullaby hitmaker looked in good form as he performed in front of a lively crowd, opening with his 2019 track Bad Decisions. He was full of enthusiasm as he sang other well known hits Remedy, Monster and Read All About It while bouncing around the stage. British singer-songwriter Cat Burns also delivered a flawless performance with her silky smooth vocals on Saturday night. Cat commanded the stage as she belted out her hugely successful huge track Go, leaving the crowds wanting more. There was plenty more artists taking to the stage across the weekend - with noughties favourites Scouting for Girls, Britain's Got Talent's Diversity, X Factor double act Jedward, international DJ Nathan Dawe, Artful Dodger and Ocean Colour Scene. Nineties icon Gabrielle brought the sunshine with her during her set, with classics like Out of Reach, Sunshine, Dreams and Rise. The mums, dads, grandparents and kids were up on their feet for this one. There really was something for everyone. The music is not the only thing that this festival has to offer. We headed to the Wonky Lizard tent for some late night comedy and spent some of the afternoon channelling my inner Nicole Kidman in a special Moulin Rouge Cabaret show. The variety of entertainment available will keep you busy all day. There was also bingo, a Greatest Showman circus - with firebreathers and hula hoopers, and a family quiz, while tribute band Oasish paid homage to rockers Oasis in the tent, amid Noel and Liam Gallagher's comeback tour. There was a whole dedicated section to keep children occupied, with a fun fair, rides, a silent disco and even a Bluey, Peppa Pig and Bing meet and greet. The little ones were also able to enjoy some downtime in front of the a big screen playing children's films throughout the day. If you fancy taking some time out, many headed to the Retreat zone which ran from the morning to mid afternoon, offering Thai massage workshops, south baths and yoga which will leave you feeling very zen. The weather did pick up and those who wanted to get a dose of Ibiza headed to O beach, a premium pop up space with everything synonymous with O Beach including iconic round pool beds. There was even hot tubs and a dance floor with dancers putting on a immersive shows throughout the day. The quality of food vendors at the festival made the experience even better knowing we could grab some delicious food and drink without having to leave the venue. We tucked into some piping hot jacket potatoes, freshly made pizzas, and mac and cheese with loaded fries and chicken. And if you thought you'd be waiting hours for some nosh, then you'd be pleasantly surprised to know that queues were quick and efficient. Five reasons to visit Together Again Festival The music has something for everyone, if you want your cheesy pop tunes, your more electric beats, some chilled out country vibes or some throwback beats, then you'll love this. The food is reasonably priced and has a variety - from Greek food, to noodles or Italian, there is something delicious that will keep you full and happy The venue and location is breathtaking and when your attention is not on the stage, then it will be on the gorgeous scenery and the Bolesworth Castle in the backdrop Perfect for all ages whether you're a toddler or over 80. The organisers have really catered for everyone. If you fancy taking some time out you can head to the Retreat zone or if you want a mini rave then Agora tent is for you. There was also baby sensory class, science fun and circus school for the little ones. Chester perfect place to explore if you've got a few hours spare between acts. Cheshire Zoo is around a 25mins drive from Bolseworth Castle and has over 37,000 animals from over 500 incredible species. The city centre also has an array of food spots, stunning architecture and Chester Cathedral is a must visit, with plenty of history. Party-goers who wanted to get up on stage themselves headed to the Wonky Lizard for a bit of Barrioke, while you could rave from morning to night with electric dance music in the Agora tent. And those who wanted to throw things back to the 90s, boogied on down to the Rewind stage, where So Solid Crew, Ultrabeat, Sonique, East 17, Phats and Small and Soul Town performed some bangers. But my favourite had to be the Ranch stage. If you're a Taylor Swift fan and love your country music, this is the perfect little spot where you can don your cowboy boots and straw hat while chilling out on haystacks and sipping on a cold beverage. Singers Emilia Quinn, Fanny Lumsden and Shellyann were exceptional as they belted out smooth tunes and well known tracks. While the Whiskey Brothers performed some incredible covers and finished with an impressive medley - even dropping hits from Eminem and 50 cent into their round-up. Who knew I was a country girl at heart! Together Again Festival returns to Bolesworth Castle on the 24-26 July 2026. Molly-Mae shares first look at £2k a night luxury holiday after moaning about boring summer
Molly-Mae has been on no expense spared getaways to Dubai, Disneyland Paris and Budapest this year mae day Molly-Mae shares first look at £2k a night luxury holiday after moaning about boring summer MOLLY-MAE has shared a first look at her £2k a night luxury holiday after moaning about having a boring summer. The former Love Islander faced a barrage of criticism from followers last month after declaring she hadn't done "one fun thing" so far this summer. 7 Molly-Mae has shared a first look at her £2k a night holiday in Turkey Credit: instagram./"mollymae 7 The star was all smiles as she enjoyed the water slides with her daughter Bambi, two Credit: instagram./"mollymae 7 The family are staying at the 5-star Regnum The Crown Hotel Credit: Regnum The Crown 7 The hotel boasts stunning rooms and a new water park for families Credit: Regnum The Crown This is despite the fact she has been on no expense spared getaways to Dubai, Disneyland Paris and Budapest this year. Now Molly-Mae can add Turkey to her 2025 holiday list, after jetting off with partner Tommy Fury and their daughter Bambi, two. They are staying at the luxury 5-star Regnum The Crown Hotel, which has been "carefully curated to deliver a true family holiday without compromise" according to its promotional information. Taking to Instagram, the 26-year-old shared snaps of them enjoying the hotel's newly unveiled water park, Aqualantis. While Molly-Mae had failed to crack a smile when the family jetted off on the trip, she beamed as she got to the bottom of one slide with Bambi, who looked cute in a pink swimsuit and matching hat to protect her from the sun. Meanwhile her famous mum wore a black bikini and sunglasses as they went on various slides. The star also shared a cute snap of Bambi in bed with Tommy, 26, and captioned it: "Nappy is taken off at any opportunity currently." Another picture saw Bambi on top of Tommy on a sunlounger, with the boxer screwing up his face while his daughter clutched her blanket and soft toy. Molly-Mae captioned it: "My favourite view". The happy trip is in stark contrast to her comments about not having a social life. Molly-Mae sobs as she admits Bambi's 'terrible twos' are breaking her & says 'I don't care who tells me I'm out of touch with reality' She said: "I said to a friend the other day, that I'm going to make it to the end of summer having not done one fun thing." Speaking to her sister, she said: "Zoe, I haven't socialised once. I'm going to get to the end of this summer having not done one social fun thing. "I haven't a life. That's not good is it. Summer will end and I've not done one fun social thing." But her followers were quick to hit out at the star for taking her luxury lifestyle for advantage. One wrote: "I like Molly but she does complain." A second posted: "Wimbledon, lunches, Spain, Dubai, France, Centre Parcs... let's normalise that." Someone else commented: "This was so jarring because she can casually spend 6k in Dior on an outfit to log to Wimbledon then complains she has no time for herself. "'No life', when she has a better life than 99.9 per cent of girls/mums her age," a fourth said. 7 Molly-Mae had failed to crack a smile when they arrived at the airport to jet off Credit: Eamonn and James Clarke 7 But they all seemed a lot happier once they were away Credit: instagram./"mollymae

Well, let's just say it's been ONE HELL OF A RIDE." Brian spoke about the realities of being in a marriage. He wrote: ""Married life is not a walk in the park, it's FULL ON and can be a bit of a s*** show at times, but you've got to work at it, people. I'm very mindful of the words that I use and the conversations I have. "I don't want our daughter seeing something when she's older or reading something when she's older." "People would always say to me, 'She's the image of Arthur',' he added. 'It was like a knife in my heart each time people said that because they were unaware of my own issue. "The control was taken away from me. But now everybody knows the truth about my daughter's DNA. My name is not on her birth cert. It's just my sister Aoife and Arthur."
