VeeFriends, Bowman Baseball Highlight Big Week in Card Releases
A soughtafter baseball card once coowned by hockey great Wayne Gretzky has been purchased by a Southern California collector for a recordsetting $2.35 million. The famous 1909 Honus Wagner tobacco card, considered the "Holy Grail" of baseball cards, was shown at Dodger Stadium by part owners of the card from SCP Auctions on 02/27/2007. Hey Collectors,
On Monday night our friends at Wheelhouse hosted an event here in LA, and the crew from Goldin came packing heat! Among the items they had on display? A signed check from Abe Lincoln, a pair of game-used Reebok Pumps worn by Shaq, a copy of Superman #1 and a T206 Honus Wagner . Museum pieces, all of them.

I don't have T206-level money, and security was watching me like a hawk, so I guess I'm going to have to keep ripping packs, hoping to hit something big the old fashioned way.
Good thing there were a few big card releases just yesterday…
Yesterday Topps Chrome VeeFriends, created by Gary Vaynerchuk, hit shelves (and sold out within minutes). The set is headlined by the ultra-rare ERUPT! cards. With odds as steep as 1 in 3,000 hobby packs—and 1 in 9,000 for blasters—these chase cards are among the rarest in the set, featuring high-end parallels like Black Lava (/10) and Superfractor 1/1s. The launch marks a major step in VeeFriends' evolution from digital NFT to tangible collectible, blending scarcity, storytelling, and artistic impact, and with Hobby Boxes selling for 2x retail, early interest is as strong as Alpha Alligator .
Also releasing yesterday? 2025 Bowman Baseball, and this year Topps included a new element, with the Red Rookie program. These special cards, marked with a red RC logo, unlock prizes if the featured player wins a major award—like Rookie of the Year—or eventually reaches the Hall of Fame. It's a long game, but there's real short-term upside. Using data compiled by Max Arterburn from Prospects Live , Mike Metzler narrowed the 30-player checklist to just four with real ROY potential in 2025: Jackson Jobe, Jacob Wilson, Roki Sasaki, and Dylan Crews. Pull a Red RC of the player who wins this year's ROY, and you'll be in line for $100 from Topps. A $1,000 prize can be yours if the player ends up in the Hall, but you'll have to wait a while to cash in.
Caitlin Clark's cultural and collectible dominance continues into 2025, with the return of her Crunch Time cereal to all Hy-Vee locations across the Midwest. Originally launched in Iowa in 2024 and flipped for five times retail on eBay, the limited-edition cereal still commands $20–$30 per box on the secondary market. With all of Clark's proceeds going to her foundation, the product exemplifies the blend of star power, scarcity, and social impact driving her market appeal. However, for all of the posts and stories we read about this cereal, not ONE mentioned how Crunch Time tastes…
Following a record-breaking 2024 season (led, in part, by Crunch Time Cereal's Caitlin Clark), the WNBA's 2025 rookie class enters a booming collectibles market fueled by rising viewership, historic attendance, and increased demand for women's sports cards. Headlined by No. 1 pick Paige Bueckers—whose Bowman 1st PSA 10s are already surging—this class includes international standout Dominique Malonga, high-scoring forward Kiki Iriafen, versatile guard Sonia Citron, and media-savvy Hailey Van Lith. With the WNBA preseason now underway, we'll start seeing which of these rookies will dominate on the court and in the card market.
For the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, Formula One swapped its usual driver parade truck for full-size, drivable F1 cars made entirely out of Lego bricks — a first-of-its-kind spectacle born from F1's growing partnership with Lego. Each of the 10 life-size cars required around 400,000 bricks and was constructed over three weeks at Lego's 'big builds' factory in the Czech Republic, complete with electric powertrains, hydraulic brakes, and custom steering systems. Designed to carry two drivers, the cars, of course, also featured fully accurate team liveries and sponsor details. Can't forget that Visa logo!

‘Fortnite' Is Down: Here's When Servers Come Back Online For Season 3
Fortnite Season 3 Fortnite servers have gone dark following the massive Death Star Sabotage live-event. The short, five-week Season 2 which featured all Star Wars content has come to an end, and the new Superman-themed Season 3 is about to begin. Typically new seasons of Fortnite kick off in the middle of the night or early morning, but Season 3 is slated to launch this evening, and possibly as early as this afternoon if you're on the West Coast. Server downtime is typically three or four hours, so with the game going down at roughly 2:30pm ET / 11:30am PT we could see Season 3 go live as early as mid-afternoon. Update: According to the in-game timer at the end of the live-event, downtime will last 5.5 hours, meaning Season 3 will launch at 8pm ET / 5pm PT. The new season brings James Gunn's Superman to the Battle Pass. The new model is based on David Corenswet's Man of Steel. The suit looks pretty good on this Fortnite version of the character. We also get Robin and Jonesy this season, along with other skins. Crossovers will be abundant, as per usual, with One Punch Man and Squid Game skins headed to the game. You can read all about the new items, weapons and POIs headed to Season 3 right here. Fortnite is now available on more devices than ever for Season 3, with the game returning to mobile devices and launching on the Nintendo Switch 2. Players were able to load in early and play a Tie-Fighter vs X-Wing dogfighting game for a couple hours prior to the event going live which was pretty fun. I had no trouble getting into the event this time, which is a nice change of pace from many previous Fortnite events. Coco Gauff defeats top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka in 3 sets to win her first French Open title
Associated Press PARIS (AP) — Coco Gauff has won the French Open for the first time by defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-4 in Saturday's final. The second-ranked Gauff came out on top of a contest that was full of tension and momentum swings to claim her second major trophy after the 2023 U.S Open, where she also came from a set down to beat Sabalenka in the final. It was the first No. 1 vs. No. 2 final in Paris since 2013, when Serena Williams defeated Maria Sharapova, and just the second in the last 30 years. After Sabalenka sent a backhand wide on Gauff's second match point, the 21-year-old American fell onto her back, covering her face with both hands before resting her forehand on the clay. After greeting Sabalenka at the net, she hugged film director Spike Lee and celebrated with her entourage, three years after she lost in her first final at Roland-Garros. Sabalenka started the deciding set strongly, sticking to her high-risk approach to hold her first service game. Gauff responded by raising her level, winning a superb rally in the third game that drew loud cheers and applause from the crowd. After an intense exchange of drop shots, Gauff hit a lob that Sabalenka chased down before attempting a shot between her legs — only for Gauff to intercept it at the net and finish with a winner. Gauff was consistent from the baseline and earned a break point which she converted when Sabalenka double-faulted, giving her a 2-1 lead. Sabalenka turned toward her box and shouted in frustration but then regained her composure, breaking back to level the match at 3-3. She was broken again at love, however, and Gauff then held serve twice to claimed the title after a match that lasted 2 hours, 38 minutes. ___ AP tennis: in this topic

Wayne Gretzky Reveals Secret to NHL Team Success Amid Stanley Cup Final
Wayne Gretzky Reveals Secret to NHL Team Success Amid Stanley Cup Final originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers are battling again in the Stanley Cup Final, meeting in the finals for the second year in a row. Edmonton took Game 1 in overtime, winning 4–3 at Rogers Place on Wednesday night. Advertisement Although both teams have lost and added players from last year to this season, NHL legend Wayne Gretzky believes there's a clear reason why they've returned to the Final. Appearing on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Thursday, after attending Game 1, Gretzky said team chemistry is the one thing that all real contenders share. 'We're always together, I mean, especially when you're playing, it's 20 guys and you go to dinner together,' Gretzky said. 'The teams who do that are more successful. "The teams where four guys go one place and three guys go to another place... they're not a team.' Gretzky pointed directly to the Oilers and Panthers as examples of that winning formula. Advertisement 'You look at the Edmonton guys, they're always together. You look at the Florida group, they're always together, Tampa Bay...,' Gretzky said. 'Those teams, year after year, are successful; there's no secret to why it is. 'They'll go through a wall for each other, and you gotta have that in our sport.' Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid plays in the Stanley Cup Nelson-Imagn Images Gretzky also believes Edmonton has what it takes to bring the Stanley Cup back to Canada, finally. 'This is the team to do it,' Gretzky said. 'I don't think Florida has played a team that is as physical as Edmonton. The speed of Edmonton matches Carolina, but Edmonton's a little more physical. 'And when you get to three championship series in a row, you're physically beat up.' Advertisement Game 2 of the series takes place Friday night in Edmonton, with the Oilers holding a 1–0 lead.
