Gurugram: Married man killed by live-in partner for talking to wife
Gurugram, Aug 2 (PTI) A 40-year-old scrap dealer was stabbed to death by his live-in partner in the DLF Phase 3 area here early Saturday after an argument over him talking to his wife, police said.
Harish Sharma, a resident of Baliawas village in Gurugram, had been in a live-in relationship with the 27-year-old accused, Yashmeet Kaur, for more than a year. They lived in a rented flat.
Sharma was married and had two daughters who lived with his wife in the village. His wife was not keeping well for some time, and Sharma would often talk to her, which infuriated Kaur, police said.
On Saturday night, Kaur walked in on Sharma conversing with his wife, and the couple had a heated argument. In a fit of rage, Kaur stabbed Sharma in the chest with a kitchen knife. He was taken to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
A friend of the deceased, Vijay alias Sethi, who was reportedly present in another room, is also under the scanner. The victim's nephew has alleged in his complaint that both Kaur and Vijay planned the murder.
Kaur, a resident of Delhi's Ashok Nagar, has been arrested and confessed to the crime, police said, adding that the murder weapon and a blood-stained T-shirt were seized from the flat. PTI COR RHL

I-day honour: 7 cops to get gallantry medals for Naxal encounter in Gadchiroli
Mumbai, Aug 14 (PTI) Seven Maharashtra police personnel will be awarded gallantry medals, three will get the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service and 39 the Medal for Meritorious Service on Independence Day, an official said on Thursday. The Centre announced service medals for 1,090 police personnel of various central and state forces on the eve of Independence Day. According to a Union Home Ministry statement, 233 personnel have been awarded the Medal for Gallantry (GM), 99 personnel awarded President's Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) and 758 have been decorated with Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) nationwide. The Police Medal for Gallantry will be given to seven personnel, including one posthumously, for their valour in an encounter against Maoists at Hemalkasa-Karampalli Road in the state's Gadchiroli district, an official said. The seven are assistant inspector Netaji Bandgar, assistant sub inspector Manohar Mahaka, constables Manohar Pendam, Prakash Kannake, Atul Yegolpawar, Hidayat Khan as well as Suresh Telami, who was martyred in the encounter, the official said. Anil Kumbhar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) of Mumbai Police; Navinchandra Reddy, Joint Commissioner of Police, Nagpur City; and Rajendrasingh Gaur, Assistant Commissioner of Police have been awarded the President's Medal for Distinguished Service. The Medal for Meritorious Service has been conferred on Deputy Inspector General of Police Pramodkumar Shewale, ACP Dattatray Dhole, Sanjay Chandkhede, Shailendra Dhiwar, Jyoti Desai, Rajan Mane, Kailas Pundkar and Narendra Hiware, he informed. Police Inspector Deepakkumar Waghmare, Ravindra Vani, Satyawan Mashalkar, Police Sub-Inspector Sandeep Shinde, Sandeep More, Joseph Dsilva have also been selected for the police medal for meritorious services. The medal for gallantry is awarded on the grounds of rare conspicuous act of bravery, in saving life and property or in preventing crime or in arresting criminals. Two men rape 17-year-old girl after convincing her she is possessed by ghosts
Palghar, Aug 14 (PTI) A 17-year-old girl was raped in Virar in Maharashtra's Palghar district allegedly by two men who convinced her she was possessed by ghosts, a police official said on Thursday. Accused Prem Patil and Karan Patil were arrested on Tuesday, the Virar police station official said. 'The victim felt unwell after visiting Jeevdani Temple in Virar and was told she was possessed by ghosts. She was taken to a baba who claimed he would carry out some rituals to save her, failing which she will not have children and her future husband could die. The two accused took her to a hotel in Nalasopara and raped her," the official said. Delhi: 9 held for flaunting, possessing illegal arms; 24 pistols seized
New Delhi, Aug 14 (PTI) Ahead of Independence Day, nine individuals, including suspected members of the Neeraj Bawana gang, were held in Delhi for flaunting illegal arms on social media and allegedly possessing a large cache of weapons, officials said on Thursday. According to the police, on the intervening night of August 12 and 13, multiple teams, acting on a tip-off, zeroed in on the suspects who had allegedly been displaying firearms on social media. The crackdown, based on patrolling inputs, led to the recovery of one semi-automatic pistol, 23 country-made pistols, and 28 cartridges from the accused, the official added. 'Ahead of Independence Day, we intensified our cyber monitoring to identify such criminals. Dedicated teams were deployed to track and apprehend them," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Hareshwar Swami said in a statement. The officer further stated that three accused — Yameen alias Joni (28), Shri Ram alias Chotu (21), and Aaditya (19) — were caught from Shahbad Dairy, NIA, and Bhalswa Dairy areas. Nine country-made pistols, a semi-automatic pistol, and 15 live cartridges were recovered from them. Two others — Aakash (21) and Amarjeet alias Happy (26) — were nabbed from Narela and Bawana, respectively. Five pistols and six live cartridges were seized from them. In another set of operations, four men — Sonal Mishra (23), Momin Khan (25), Noor Hasan (26), and Anand alias Mitthu (36) — were arrested from Shahbad Dairy, JJ Colony in Bawana and Nathupura. The police recovered a pistol and two cartridges from Mishra, a pistol and a cartridge each from Khan and Hasan, and a pistol with two cartridges from Mitthu. Yameen alias Joni, with three previous involvements in robbery and hurt cases, is allegedly an associate of criminal Sanju Sehrawat and linked to the Neeraj Bawana gang. While Shri Ram and Aaditya allegedly used to flaunt firearms on social media to instil fear, Aakash and Amarjeet, both from the Narela-Bawana belt, were allegedly active in illegal arms circulation, the police said. Sonal Mishra has a prior record of 14 cases, including robbery, snatching, theft, and offences under the Arms Act, while Momin Khan has four past cases under the Arms Act and the NDPS Act. Noor Hasan has a staggering 50 criminal cases to his name, the police mentioned, adding that Anand alias Mitthu also has a criminal history. Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the weapons, the police stated.
