Goalkeeper Donnarumma left out of PSG squad for UEFA Super Cup match amid reports he will leave
PSG named its squad on Tuesday for the match, which is being held in Udine in Italy. Goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, who recently joined from Lille for just over 40 million euros ($46.44 million), was included along with backup goalie Matvei Safonov.
Chevalier's arrival could signal Donnarumma's departure, with the 26-year-old Italy international unlikely to accept being No. 2 if coach Luis Enrique decides so.
Donnarumma was arguably the best goalkeeper in Europe last season, playing a key role in PSG's Champions League success with inspired shot-stopping in the knockout stages. He also starred for Italy when it won the European Championship in 2021.
But with one year left on his contract, Donnarumma has refused to sign a new contract and PSG is unlikely to let him leave for free at the end of the season.
PSG experienced the same situation two seasons ago with Kylian Mbappé, who ended up joining Real Madrid on a free transfer after refusing to take up the option of a one-year contract extension.
PSG is already well stocked with backup goalkeepers, including Arnau Tenas and 19-year-old Renato Martin.

Five goalies could prove problematic to manage so at least one, and probably two, will need to leave during the summer transfer window.
Donnarumma was in a similar position to Chevalier when he joined the club after helping Italy win the Euros. He replaced Keylor Navas as No. 1, even though Navas had been outstanding for PSG the previous season.
Donnarumma's arrival at PSG was seen by fans as hugely unfair on Navas and a clumsy move by the club. Now the situation has come full circle for the Italy keeper, who finds himself in much the same position as Navas was.
PSG begins its league campaign at Nantes on Aug. 17. ___

Oklahoma QB John Mateer denies gambling, says Venmo transaction titles were ‘inside jokes'
Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer says he has never gambled, and the school says there is no NCAA investigation after a recent report showed Mateer twice paid someone on Venmo in 2022 for 'sports gambling.' 'The allegations that I once participated in sports gambling are false,' Mateer said in a statement Tuesday on social media. 'My previous Venmo descriptions did not accurately portray the transactions in question but were instead inside jokes between me and my friends.' Mateer, who was at Washington State during the time in question, said he can understand why the Venmo descriptions could lead one to believe otherwise, so he decided to set the record straight. 'I have never bet on sports,' he said. 'I understand the seriousness of the matter, but recognize that, taken out of context, those Venmo descriptions suggest otherwise. I can assure my teammates, coaches, and officials at the NCAA that I have not engaged in any sports gambling.' In a statement, Oklahoma said it uses ProhiBet for comprehensive monitoring of sports gambling activities. 'OU takes any allegations of gambling seriously and works closely with the NCAA in any situations of concern,' the statement said. 'OU Athletics is unaware of any NCAA investigation and has no reason to believe there is one pending.' Mateer followed former Washington State offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle to Oklahoma this past offseason. Mateer passed for 3,139 yards with 29 touchdowns and just seven interceptions and ran for 826 yards and 15 scores last season. Pakistan skittled for 92 as West Indies wins third and final ODI by 202 runs to clinch series 2-1
TAROUBA, Trinidad and Tobago (AP) — Shai Hope hit 120 not out before pacer Jayden Seales destroyed Pakistan's chase with six wickets as West Indies won the third and final ODI by the huge margin of 202 runs on Tuesday to clinch the series 2-1. Pakistan was dismissed for 92 in 29.2 overs after West Indies had lost the toss and made a challenging 294-6 at Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad and Tobago, with Hope dominating the innings. The West Indies captain hit five sixes and 10 fours in his 94-ball knock, sharing an unbroken seventh-wicket stand with Justin Greaves of 110 runs in around eight overs. Greaves was 43 not out in only 24 deliveries, including two sixes and four fours. Pakistan collapsed early in its chase to 23-4 in the ninth over, with three ducks from its top four batters. Opener Saim Ayub was caught behind on the third ball of the innings, Abdullah Shafique also failed to score, and Pakistan was 8-3 when captain Mohammad Rizwan was bowled by Seales for a golden duck in the third over.
