HDK announces proposal for tourism devpt of Srirangapatna

Mandya: Union minister for heavy industries and steel HD Kumaraswamy announced that a proposal was submitted to the Union ministry of tourism for the development of historical monuments in Srirangapatna under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme, with an estimated outlay of Rs 100 crore. Speaking during the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting here on Friday, Kumaraswamy said the initiative aims to boost tourism in Srirangapatna taluk, alongside the preservation and development of its heritage sites. On the agriculture front, he noted the favourable monsoon this year and instructed the agriculture and horticulture departments to provide timely and consistent guidance to farmers. Deputy commissioner Kumara reported that awareness drives are being held in schools and colleges on the legal and social consequences of child marriage, including education on the Pocso Act. He also informed that AI-enabled cameras have been installed along the Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway to monitor speeding and reduce accidents, with fines being imposed on violators. Zilla panchayat CEO KR Nandini said special attention is being paid at festival and mass marriage venues to verify the age of the bride and groom, as a measure to prevent child marriages. MLAs P Ravikumar (Mandya), HT Manju (KR Pet), and MLC Vivekananda were also present. *** BOX Congress MLAs absent from DISHA Meeting Addressing the issue of Congress MLAs skipping the DISHA meeting, Kumaraswamy said, "I don't know whether they will attend or not—but I will still do my duty." He added that personal prestige and political rivalry were not his concerns. "I don't need an invitation from Congress MLAs. The people of Mandya have invited me, and I am here to work for their development," he told reporters. In Mysuru, agriculture minister N Cheluvarayaswamy, who is Mandya district in-charge, responded to the conduct of the DISHA meeting by Kumaraswamy in Mandya. Cheluvarayaswamy stated that Kumaraswamy didn't attend meetings he chaired. He accused Kumaraswamy of failing to focus on the development of the Mandya Lok Sabha segment. Speaking to reporters, he said: As a Union minister, Kumaraswamy should get major projects and funds to the state and Mandya. He allocated Rs 30 lakh for an auto stand from his MP Local Area Development Fund. This will not help the people, he said. He remarked that everyone, including former MP Sumalatha Ambareesh, has done similar work, as funds are available to legislators and MPs. He suggested that Kumaraswamy, being a Union minister, should work with senior Union minister from Karnataka, Pralhad Joshi, to get funds due to the state from the Centre.

Before Arvind Kejriwal's ‘hidden romance' jibe, Punjab Congress called AAP BJP's ‘B Team'

Jalandhar: While Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal recently alleged a secretive understanding between the Congress and the BJP in Gujarat — calling it a "hidden romance"—the Congress in Punjab has been bracketing AAP with RSS-BJP for over two years or accusing the Punjab chief minister of following the Centre's line on different issues. Even as the parties held a seat-sharing arrangement in Delhi, Haryana, and Gujarat, Punjab Congress leaders usually called AAP the 'B team' of RSS-BJP. They sharpened the attacks before the Lok Sabha elections. Amid these allegations, they strongly opposed an alliance between the two parties in Punjab during the parliamentary polls, arguing that Congress could not cede opposition space to Shiromani Akali Dal or BJP. Kejriwal, during a gathering of AAP leaders and workers in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, asserted that his party had no alliance with Congress, and that the INDIA bloc was confined to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He likened the Congress-BJP dynamic to lovers meeting in secret, saying, "They meet secretly because society won't accept their marriage. Be cautious of them—they are very dangerous." BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Friday slammed Kejriwal over his "hidden romance" jibe at the BJP, saying, "The entire country knows it was you, Kejriwal, who struck an 'unholy alliance' with Congress back in 2013 to form the Delhi govt. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Global Indices Are on the Move — Time to Trade! IC Markets Learn More Undo In Punjab, it's now an open secret — AAP and Congress have made a secret pact to rule alternately and loot Punjab every five years." Punjab Congress leaders started levelling the allegation of collusion between AAP and RSS-BJP, or calling the former the 'B team' of the latter or 'two sides of the same coin', just after the Bhagwant Mann govt completed a year. Leader of opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Waring, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, and Pargat Singh started the attacks on these lines, and then a few other party leaders followed suit. Punjab Congress made it a point to accuse the Punjab govt of following the central govt's line over its handling of the farm protest, and its removal from the Shambhu border. On a few other issues, they levelled similar allegations. Recently, Waring, while addressing a rally at Hoshiarpur, alleged that the AAP govt in Punjab was hand in glove with the Centre. At the same time, Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar has been alleging that a few leaders of Punjab Congress had surrendered before the AAP govt to escape action by anti-corruption agencies. Jagan claims collapse of law and order in Andhra, demands President's rule

'When there is no protection to politicians and citizens, law and order is deteriorating, and the Constitution is being violated, then why shouldn't President's rule be imposed?' Reddy posed on X. He alleged that YSRCP leaders and activists were being targeted through false cases, 'illegal' arrests, and an 'organised campaign of political harassment'. Amaravati, Jul 4 (PTI) YSRCP chief and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday advocated the imposition of President's Rule in the state, alleging a total breakdown of law and order under the TDP-led NDA government. He said the recent attack on Dalit sarpanch Nagamalleswar Rao of Mannava village in Guntur district in broad daylight shows the 'lawlessness' in the state and the video of that incident depicts the gravity of the situation. The former chief minister alleged that YSRCP workers were being 'assaulted' for defying the ruling TDP and questioned whether people are truly safe under the Chandrababu Naidu government. Meanwhile, YSRCP SC Cell president TJR Sudhakar Babu accused Naidu of insulting Dalits. He alleged that the chief minister demeaned Dalit YSRCP supporter C Singayya, who died by allegedly falling under the wheels of Jagan Mohan Reddy's convoy at Etukuru Cross in Guntur district. Naidu likened Singayya to a dog and resorted to disrespecting the deceased person and politicising the tragedy, Babu alleged. The YSRCP leader also accused Naidu of showcasing 'a pattern of hurling casteist insults', and cited previous remarks by TDP leaders, ostensibly questioning Dalits' education and political rights. Babu alleged that CM Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh prioritise real estate over welfare and foster violence against Dalits, and demanded a full probe into Singayya's death.
